Coming from NYC, my husband and I didn’t expect to get good Italian food in Mexico, but boy were we wrong! The food is authentic and absolutely delicious, the ambiance is romantic and the service top notch. We are only staying in Sayulita for a week but we will certainly be back before we leave. Check this place out for sure!

This review is about 2 years late! You know a place is good when it makes a lasting impression and inspires you to write a review years later. I went here roughly two years ago, and boy was I satisfied. The food was delicious and most importantly, authentic. The owners are from Italy I believe, and if I remember correctly have many years experience of cooking and traveling around the world, so you know their taste’s are refined. You can tell when an establishment puts pride into what they serve and this place definitely does just that. Gusto is super cute and clean and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. If I ever make my was back to Sayulita, I will make sure to visit again. Side note: I just read a negative review and can’t help but feel like that person is fake. Like maybe a competitor in the area who feels threatened. I don’t know, but I assure you that I am not friends with the owner nor do I believe they use frozen ingredients.

I’ve been eating amazing Mexican food in this town and a friend recommend we eat here. When in Mexico eat Italian? Crazy right?! Well from the minute we sat down till we walked away this was like a little piece of Italy in the heart of Sayulita. The pasta, sauces, pizza are all made fresh and their fish special was the best fish we’ve had so far. What an amazing surprise!

Hands down our favorite restaurant! We live here in Sayulita, so we have tried every restaurant more than once, Gusto’s is amazing! Love, love, love the owners Daniel and Giusy, they are from Milan, Italy. Pizza is hand crafted and baked in a wood oven. The pastas are all freshly made… the lasagna is amazing! Try the carpaccio salad… awesome!

Fantastic place! Great wine list, creative food and great service. The food was similar to a meal I’d get in San Francisco at a third the price. Highly recommend.

It was delicious. The buratta was magic. And though it took a while I did not mind sitting on the plaza while I waited. The mushroom ravioli was amazing so delicate and flavorful. To top if of… Tiramisu! The owners were so lovely, we saw them all over town on our trip and they were so helpful and kind. Special place!

I can’t help but think these other reviews are all«friends» of the owner. Because wow, what a HUGE disappointment! We are big Italian fans, and this sounded like the right place — if not a bit pricy. Well it was definitely expensive, but omg the food was a joke. The pizza was a premade focaccia crust with bland, store-bought toppings that were barely cooked. I’m 90% sure the pizza was microwaved, but I’ve honestly had better nuked pizza from 7⁄11 so maybe I’m wrong on that. The wine was pretty good, but for the price you’re better off grabbing a chilled white from the Mercado next door and throw $ 50 in the trash. Sorry guys, but I’m just not seeing it. I wish you the best.

I passed this restaurant several times while traveling through the plaza and decided to give it a try. I though the service and food were very good although I thought the serving sizes were on the small side. On a side note it’s a cash only establishment.

An Italian couple from Milan runs this quaint restaurant on the Sayulita central square. Live music three nights each week is great if you catch it. Gnocchi, Pizza, and Burrata were our favorites. We enojoyed a nice bottle of Chianti and Montepuciano.

This place was AWESOME! We were craving Italian and came to the right place. It is a small restaurant but the owner of the bakery next door was nice enough to loan us a table. The owner of this place was so accommodating and everyone loved their food be it pizza or ravioli. We have found some of the best Italian food in Mexico, go figure.

This is my favorite restaurant in Sayulita. Gusto is right on the plaza. The food is excellent. The wine even better, which is saying something in Sayulita, where good wine is impossible to come by. Give it a try. Get to know Joosy and Daniel, like have. Eating there is not just dinner. It’s an entire evening. Fantastic.

Excellent authentic Italian. The owner/chef is delightful and his food is a nice break from all the tacos nearby. Highly recommended.

This place is amaaaazing. My friend and I shared the pesto gnocci and a pizza. Holy shit! Everything was sooooo delicious. Our other friends had the lasagna and said wow best lasagna theyve ever had. We all shared a tiramisu afterwards and were all wowed again. So light and smooth. The temptations were playing which gets this place bonus points for a great soundtrack. This restaurant is owned and operated by a young italian couple. They moved to sayulita 8months ago and opened this place up. They hand-make everything from scratch and you can really tell the difference in the intensity of the flavours and the far better textures than restaurants who use generic mass-produced ingredients. The resto is located in the heart of sayulita, right in the plaza between choco-banana and ya-yas cafes. It’s nice to be able to get a legit and trendy italian experience in a town where tacos easily become the daily routine. The owners are so lovely that I feel good about, and want to give them my business, to support them doin it right!

New place. Been open a month. Lots of Italian wine options. No list… yet. Owner totally friendly and informative and open to tastings. Nice bruschetta amuse-bouche; more fitting for a red wine pairing than my whites but a nice touch.
