Cool location, nice old building, great view. Couple of good local beers. Can’t speak for the coffee, don’t drink it but others in my group were pleased. Yummy baked goods.

Coffee is nice with attention to detail not to burn the milk. Nice view of Auckland city skyline. However some items on the menu are misleading. A «breakfast burrito» literally consists of seasoned scrambled egg with a side of avo and salsa. Literally you’re paying $ 14 for a tortilla wrap with scrambled egg. When I questioned the manager on this ridiculously over priced option, to be simply told welcome to Auckland prices, is less than satisfactory. Scrambled egg is NOT a breakfast burrito and is a misleading name for what it consists of. I recommend coffee and nothing more.

The food was good, nothing mind blowing and to be honest it’s not worth the price. The customer service was both great and awful, the cashier was rude and inattentive while the waitress was all smiles.. If you are in a hurry the food isn’t bad but if not there are amazing places nearby. The city of Auckland is full of amazing surprises but this wasn’t one of them

So this was my first morning in Auckland and I wanted to try and see the café culture. Everyone raves about how good it is. As this place was close to where I was staying and because of all the reviews I decided to try it. In summary this place is not bad, but no where near good — specifically in comparison to the rest of the brilliant cafes in Auckland. First and foremost this place is mainly atmosphere, but little substance. So in other words, if you are looking for a cool and hipster place to sit — this is the place for you. But honestly, comparing the food and coffee to other establishments, I wouldn’t waste my time. The coffee here was weak and not well brewed. I love my coffee, and so it, sadly, slightly ruins my morning when I don’t get a good cup of coffee. I actually went out and got another cup after here — ps I went to Violà, and yes that was a great cup of coffee. The food here was average. Nothing special. Saying that I did go for breakfast, maybe it is mind blowing at lunch. Either way I’m not from Auckland, so this might be awesome for New Zealanders, but compared to the other cafes in this city, I thought that this place was below par.

This bohemian-style café is located at the back of St Kevin’s Arcade, Karangahape Road with eclectic chairs and tables surrounding the outside of the café. The menu is on a blackboard on the shop window — so make sure you read this before you go in, as there are no menus or reference to what is available inside at the pay point? You can buy a selection of cakes, slices or cookies at the counter. Full bar on offer. Coffee is average. Service is below-average. Food is very average. I had two poached eggs on sourdough and they were over done, for $ 10! Not great. On the positive side: great meeting spot, performance space and majestic views!

You have to know about this place already as it’s not immediately obvious where it is. But as other reviews have testified, it is great coffee. I like my coffee on the slightly bitter but smooth scale and this place delivers.

Light, relaxed, bohemian setting looking over the park, and set back from the road in the arcade. We tried the Scandinavian sandwich and the parsnip fritters — both delicious. Beware closes at 3 pm on Sunday!

Cool relaxed vibe in St Kevin’s Arcade on K Road. With its mismatched tables and chairs, and relaxed vibe I got the impression Allelyua would be a wonderful place to spend a morning /afternoon whiling away the time. This is a vegetarian café but the kind of place where you wouldn’t even miss not having meat. I have so far only visited for a coffee(very nice) but spotted many a good option on the brunch menu. My friend whom I was with, and had visited before told me that their Jewish Ginger cake is amazing. She said it was worth buying, whatever the time of day, it was that good. Sadly it was not in the cabinet on this occasion, but I know I will definitely be going back to Alleluya.

I don’t drink coffee. But I’ve heard from pretty much everybody that the coffee at Alleluya is sensational. So that’s good. I’ve been to a couple of gigs that Alleluya has hosted, and they’ve shown refined taste and provided a very very nice ambience that has made the gigs ‘good’. Again, a good thing. I think I’ve eaten there ~3 times and every time the food has been quite good and priced at pretty much the exact price that you’d expect a kind of hip café in St Kevins arcade to be. What makes Alleluya worth a visit for me isn’t the coffee or the food or anything like that. It’s the location. It’s the stained glass windows and darling, baroque, stairwell fixtures. It’s a nice place to sit down for a while. It’s really nice.

As you walk up the stairs from Myers Park, thankful not to have collapsed on your way up, the buzz of conversation from Alleluya and the surrounding shops begins to lure you in. It’s a great place to pull up a chair and play a game of chess with a friend, have a coffee and reminisce about the days when you could smoke there… Having never eaten there, I cant comment on the food but the coffee I had was great, so much so that I got seconds. I’ve always found the service to be friendly and quick.

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody… who works there is a babe. Sad, but true. There is a real plethora of cafes along K’Road, but nowhere else can you see a group of baristas and servers who are as babein’ as Alleluya. This aesthetic extends to the space itself — rickety old retro chairs, tables of various ages and sizes and a stunning view of Myers Park and through to the SkyTower. I like heading to Alleluya in the winter when it’s cold and overcast outside — you get the comfort of enjoying the miniscule amounts of winter sun whilst tucking into a freshly made breakfast. The portions are sizeable, if a little pricier than the other cafes in the area, but with the nice set up(and the babes) you’ll have a good time.

I’ve always fancied the idea of the bohemian life, but let’s be honest: I’m a Shore boy living at home. Until such time as that changes, my occasional jaunts up to K Road are going to have to do. Once there, I always make sure to stop at Alleluya Café. The coffee is invariably perfect, and I’m a sucker for the excellent eggs benedict. But the food here is hardly the point. What really sets Alleluya apart is its fantastic setting in St Kevin’s Arcade, a charming art-deco space where you sit under a high ceiling among palms surrounded by all sorts of interesting looking people — some animated in groups, others alone and buried in a second-hand book they might have bought nearby. The prize spot is a table by the warm and sunny window that overlooks Myers Park, a somehow unknown green treasure in the centre of town. Perfect.

St Kevin’s Arcade is a serene get-away from the noise of the central city. Filled with plants, wonderful natural light streaming in, and plenty of seating, it’s the perfect place to rest mid-shopping frenzy or just escape for an afternoon. The coffee at Alleluya is usually very good but the food can be a bit hit-or-miss. I’ve had a standard, but admittedly very well-cooked eggs Benedict there, but then gone back and tried something less standard and been really disappointed. I think from now on I’ll be sticking with the coffee.
