We came here for dinner on a sat! It was packed! We order a few drinks and a pizza bread to start with, lucky we did as they really take their time to serve food… Almost an hour of wait to see our mains, and most of us ordered steak… wonder why it took so long!!! And haha I was so hungry and forgot to take a proper photo of the mains! But I can tell you it taste great! And the pizza bread is interesting, rosemary potato on pizza bread, very tasty too! Great seating and vibe in the restaurant, not bad for a nice meal on a weekend if you don’t mind the wait for food.

A trendy Eatery in the suburb. This got to be better than the usual restaurant you find in the neighbourhood. We loved the atmosphere and the service there. Staff are very friendly and loved to help you with your good selection if you get stuck because of their variety! Oysters were fresh, wine was nice, food was beautifully presented and delicious! Although it said it was small but we find that reasonable to share between three of us for three small plates and a pizza. We also ordered some oysters. We will definitely go back there again. =)

I arrived at Banque Oyster Bar & Eatery — my initial impressions were all good; a well laid-out restaurant and bar with full view of the raw bar, staff are smartly dressed and friendly. In the raw bar, on a whitewash of crushed ice. I’m not an oyster fan but my friend ordered a few for his entrée. The menu read«Good, honest food. Daily.» There were larger plates or smaller plates for sharing so my friend and I opted for 5 different items. Shredded duck on a pancake, steamed spanner crab, Pork & prawn buns and scallops on a cauli purée which was the dish of the night. The wait for food for majority of our table of 12 was 2 hours, and for those of us having all our dishes as mains had to wait from 7pm to 9pm before eating anything and would rather them come out in dribs and drabs. For dessert we had the shared platter which consisted of a raspberry crème brulee, a little freshly apple fritters, a chocolate fondant cake and a Pear and ginger meringue tart which was surprisingly warm. And the plate was decorated with little dots of custard and poached rhubarb. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it!

Mum and Dad made the last minute decision that they couldn’t be bothered with cooking dinner on this particular night so we popped into Remuera to trial Banque for the first time. A lovely restauant with a great atmosphere. The service was great and delicious meals came out nice and quickly, the perfect choice for a great weeknight meal.

Banque is for Remuera what a slice of lemon is to a nice ice cold gin — perfect. It’s a really well designed restaurant and bar that you feel has embraced user-centred design. They cater for their local clientele innovatively with high tables for one or two at the front for dates or people watching, larger bar tables mid flow for after work drinks or girls nights out, and a comfy restaurant towards the back perfect for families and more sedate diners. Their seating is super comfortable which is smart as you tend to linger. Fresh oysters and seafood are displayed proudly tempting you to smash a few open downing them with a glass of bubbles from their worldly wine list. And the variety of food options from small plates, sharing boards, to delicious meals(their vegetarian pasta is superb), really shows these guys know what they are doing. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful — last time I visited, my colleague was nearly an hour late. Sitting alone they made me feel welcome, staff chatting away without being intrusive and even offered an iPhone charger behind the bar sensing I was losing power ! A favourite local restaurant and a must visit — even if your from the west-side to see that Remuera can do what Ponsonby can !

Banque is a quiet, but trendy eatery found on Remuera Road. I had been meaning to try this place for weeks after the good recommendations from a cousin. The inside is totally not what you expect. Don’t be put off from this place, because its in Remuera and gives that upperclass vibe. The inside of Banque, is totally comforting and relaxing. Theres wonderful warm décor and an inside fire. Its a great place to have lunch or dinner with a glass of wine. My dining partner and I went for a quiet Friday lunch. Banque’s menu is designed for sharing. The menu has a slight Asian flavour. I would def recommend having the Bluff oysters and diamond shell clams. They were served with a delicious dipping sauce. Obviously Bluff oysters are only served to season, so if you have the chance to eat them, try them! I wouldn’t normally order any kind of pizza, but seeing it was a pizza bread it was a good choice for a filler, but tbh it was really tasty. The dough was super soft and flavour was great. The other two dishes were just a bit bland and lacked the same flavour excitement as the other dishes. I would recommend for Banque to just add more flavour to the ribs instead of just covering them in hoisin sauce. Although i think its a great idea serving lamb ribs as its pretty rare on other restaurant menus. Service was great, lovely guy who served us and I think i may have even tipped him. Would def recommend coming here, for good food, great atmosphere and service. Also good value for money, but Banque features in the Entertainment book if you want a good deal. Banque in Remuera is so fancy. I mean pretty much everything in Remuera is fancy anyway, but this place is a very upmarket place to eat. To be honest these kinds of places aren’t really my thing(I’m too much of a cheapskate), but sometimes you need to do things to please that special someone. Yes the meals and drinks here are expensive, but with the amount of effort they put into each dish, it’s easy to see why. I’m one of those people who don’t really mind so much how their meal looks just as long as it tastes good. Well these meals both look and taste great. Everything was so lush, and my steak was cooked to perfection. I expected a lot from this restaurant and I wasn’t at all disappointed. The food was great, the service was amazing, and my girlfriend was pleased. Win.

Went out for a long overdue date night, and thought we would try this place out. Turns out the had just opened that day after some major renovations, and it was looking super flash! We were seated by some celebs — this must be a favourite local. Very friendly and attentive staff who actually know what they are talking about. Amazing food and cocktails — we enjoyed some sensational raw kingfish from the live bar, and then or mains were huge — giant steak, and a fancy mixed seafood dish with enormous prawns, cockles of some sort, fish, mussels etc. Dessert was a big hunk of comte cheese and bread. Only $ 13 for 100g cheese — I thought this was a excellent bargain since I normally spend about $ 9 on deli cheese at the supermarket.
