This is such an amazing spot in the CBD, metres from the middle of Queen Street, but so peaceful. They even have a fire in the outdoor area. The food was delicious and simple, I had the porridge which was amazing with the honey roasted walnuts, and I think it was blackberry compote. Also had the caramello milkshake, which had a good dark chocolate kind of flavour. Overall a great spot to get away from the busyness of the CBD.

Discovered on Tuesday, went back on Wednesday, and then again 2 days later. This place is sooooo good! Sure, there are a ton of great cafes in the area, but this place is my favorite. Delicious bread, eggs cooked perfectly, and great coffee! The service was outstanding, as well. Really nice people working there. Then to top it off, the café itself is really cute. I have to stop myself going there every morning now.

I visited this little gem of a café after a friend recommended it to me, and I think most people would need a hint to find it as it is tucked away down a High St alley. Not that this is a bad thing — instead it makes you feel like you’ve discovered a well-kept secret. There inside is fairly cosy but there’s a covered outdoor seating area filled with light and funky artworks, with sheepskins on the stools and wild flowers in jars on the table. I had an excellent coffee(they roast beans to create their own blend) and a lovely rich chocolate brownie while I flicked through a magazine. But after seeing the menu I’ll have to plan a lunch visit on my next visit… provolone and gruyère cheese toastie with gherkin and branston pickle… cauliflower, quinoa, barley and hazelnut salad — yum! It’s open super early at 7am — good for city office workers needing a caffeine fix — and I notice it’s also made the ranks of the Metro top 50 cafes.

Awesome urban oasis! PUUURRRRfect latte, five stars… pistachio, lemon, gluten free afternoon tea snack, melted in the mouth nicely, also five stars… murals, pot plants, heaters, fresh air options, ambience five stars for sure… super friendly helpful attentive staff, five stars too… so why only a four rating? Toilets totally needed some attention! Sorry to be a tough nut, but they were really dirty and messy. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to a return, however I will have my ‘health and safety’ hat on and pending a possible five star upgrade;)

Adorable little café which can be very easy to miss along High Street. The staff are super friendly and were more than willing to take on my request for some latte art Perfect place for a chill coffee sesh — the back seating area felt so warm and cozy! Ordered a flat white, flavor was just right plus the coffee art was super cute

After seeing Chuffed on High Street rate well on Metro’s hottest 2014 café list, and being sucked in by many a favourable trip advisor recommendation, I finally visited the little café earlier this afternoon. The venue, which proudly advertises itself as High Street’s hidden gem, most certainly lives up to that name in its appearance. The café is eclectic in that nouveau hipster quirky way, with marvellously artistic looking drip coffee machines and an unexpectedly lovely enclosed courtyard with a fire place behind. The chairs even had beautiful little sheepskins on them for extra coziness on a particularly nasty Auckland Winter day. Unfortunately, though, our grand expectations were not quite met when our drinks arrived. Pictured below is their hot chocolate, which lacked the house made marshmallow accompaniment that was advertised on the menu. The drink itself was pretty standard, it had a nice flavour but it’s not rave worthy, especially in an area where competition for hot beverages is so extreme. We also had a batch brew coffee, which was not necessarily lay-man friendly, however, we do respect that true coffee connoisseurs would be into it. All in all, didn’t quite get the hype on this one, but definitely a cute little place for a quick city escape.

This coffee comes with recommendations of a amazing little café that brings a little life back into High Street. Chuffed is your bit of calmness and serenity amongst the big busy full paced city. Sitting in a heated and covered outdoor area by an open fire doesn’t come much better in these neck of the woods! The layout is so white and refreshing with hints of earthy tones and flowers you almost forget you are in the Heart of the City. I ordered a nice big cup of brew that was the Brazil Blend from Espresso Workshop and absolutely delicious! Chuffed also serve their own house blend for your regular espresso that tastes mighty fine too. The staff here were super friendly and knowledgeable on the coffee they were serving! The menu looks amazing with plenty of mouth watering options even for the health conscious person.

One of my favorite café. Coffee is perfect every time and you have to try their toasties!!! They are amazing! Let’s say everything I tried here is great. And very friendly staff =) This little gem is easy to missed on highstreet, it’s right next to Peter Alexander if anyone is trying to locate it.

We were in the city from the U.S. and needed shoe repair. While there we chatted about local eateries and Dr Shoe recommended Chuffed. We returned to the neighborhood later in the day to have lunch. REALMILKSHAKES. My husband was in raptures. Carmel-mocha was the flavor of the day. Can you say dessert before lunch? He also ordered the lamb shank and it melted in your month. I had the burger and was not disappointed although I have to say if my mouth were any smaller I could not have eaten it. Yes it is hard to find, yes at lunch it is bustling and we had to wait for patio seating, but YES you need to eat there.

The back patio is like a sanctuary hidden in middle of the city. It was so cozy and relaxing and I loved that the staff never made me feel rushed. The entrance itself was a bit hard to find so keep your eyes peeled. I ordered a cup of tea and the smoked salmon baguette which came with the most creamy, buttery, warm salmon.

What a neat café! Found this one through Unilocal and have admired pics of their food. Got to go for lunch with some friends after having passed their sign many times. Neat indoor and outdoor patio-style area. Loved the wall mural and the cute succulents in pots as well as view of interesting building artworks and architecture. Super cool space. Ordered their eggs benedict without any add-ons– though they are quite a few interesting options. Simple dish that was made a bit more interesting with land cress and spiced hollandaise with a toasted poppy seed bagel. Well done. A good option if you’re in the mood for eggs. Friend got a duck leg salad as she was intrigued by the dish and a chicken with asparagus dish which was beautifully presented like an artwork with lots of components. We all got their blueberry, LSA smoothie which was actually more like a juice but still decent. Have to go back to try their coffee which they are well known for. Friend was well impressed by her takeaway flat white. Definitely try dine-in: specifically out the back in the beautiful area. Highly recommend!

Chuffed is a cute little café at the end of a corridor off High Street. Make sure you look out for the sign, otherwise you will miss it! I had only heard about Chuffed by reading reviews about it in magazines and on websites, and could not believe it when I found out that it is just up the road from my work! Upon entering, the bright mural on the wall amazed me — it is stunning. I was also very surprised by the courtyard out the back. It is sort of like a hidden paradise away from the hustle and bustle of High Street. There is an open fireplace, cushion seating and decorative hanging plants. From the menu, we tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich($ 10) with ciabatta, house made BBQ sauce, apple, cress and pear celeriac remoulade and the Roasted Wild Mushroom Sub(also $ 10) with pear and Whitestone Windsor blue. Both were delicious, but the Pulled Pork Sandwich was definitely the stand out of the two. I will go back to Chuffed, because I enjoyed the vibe of the place and sitting out in the warm courtyard. I would also love to come back to try one of their hot chocolates topped with homemade marshmallows. Delicious!

Tremendous little find, tucked away on High Street — Chuffed sweeps you away from the busy CBD traffic and chaos and invites you to a quiet serene patio with sun, light and peaceful zen. Their trademark artwork that drapes the welcoming lobby and menu alike, shows the creative juices running through the place which translates down into their staff and food. Have visited Chuffed for morning breakfast and brunch a few times now and have never been disappointed. Poached eggs, with that vibrant beetroot cured salmon and the smoked feta are the perfect combination of sides for a morning breakfast. The eggs benedict will tickle your tastebuds and have you buzzing all morning — served on a delicious bagel with a creamy hollandaise. The chicken sandwich perhaps had a few too many flavours going on(chicken, brie cranberry — and then oddly tomato and rocket) so I would recommend the pork sandwich which has less ‘greens’ and more ‘meat’ so to speak — alot of punch flavours. The strawberry shortcake shake is also a must try — a delightful suprise when the bits of «crumble» arrive on your palate through the tall shake mixer straw. Sweet and Tart — like a fond childhood memory of Nana’s Sunday baking. Finally — the Cauliflower Cream soup. Deliciously smooth and rich in flavour– whilst the mushrooms seemed to serve little more than decorative purpose — they didnt take away from the brilliance that was that soup. Overall the place is beautifully set out — the staff are absolutely wonderful and the food is delicious and fresh. Dont skip out sitting next to the fireplace with the cosy chairs and blankets — or in the summer basking with your nibbles in the sun. Its so rare to find such a gem in the middle of the city ! I’ll be looking forward to when they start doing a dinner service which I hear is in the works atm :)

I’m totally chuffed(hah) to have finally made it to this nifty High Street café that everyone seems to be raving about! My cappuccino($ 4) was really tasty, but it’s the whole vibe of the place that really had it for me. The simple interior boasts bright and colourful murals, while out back, the surprisingly roomy courtyard — with cushioned seats, a roaring fireplace and tables adorned with little succulents — provides an escape from the city that is, amazingly, still in the heart of the city. I do have one word of warning, though: the courtyard roof is retractable and well, the open space and its plant furnishings probably attract a fair amount of attention from birds, so keep an eye out for bird poop before you sit… don’t make the same mistake I did! I only stopped for a quick caffeinated pick-me-up so I can’t comment on the food, but the menu items look worth trying. House made crumpets and a more peculiar but tempting wagyu tongue burger? Count me in for a return trip!

Took our office here for breakfast to start the week off — 17 or so of us. We had emailed them our orders on Friday so they were pretty much ready for us when we arrived at 8am which was fantastic! We were seated in their great little courtyard — with heaters to keep us warm. Excellent service. The Egg’s Benedict was really good. Not smothered in Hollandaise which is my preference. And the coffee was perfectly acceptable. Will be bringing back the team for sure :)

A shining gem in a concrete playground! Chuffed is located down a corridor off High St(look out for the sign) away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD. The interior is small with a cool vibe but for me it’s all about their covered courtyard out back. That place is like my ideal urban oasis. The wooden floors and walls are painted a soft cream and are adorned with flourishing planter boxes. One of the walls has a floor to ceiling mural of budding branches but best of all, it’s blissfully quiet. As far as seating goes, there’s big wicker armchairs to relax in or your traditional table and stool setup. As for the food, the menu is small but well thought-out and features some interesting options including their take on green eggs and ham, which is kind of like baked eggs but with a ragu of wild boar, lentils and smoked feta served with sourdough. Yum! On my first visit I ordered a light salad with witloof, raddichio, heirloom tomatoes and feta($ 10) — simple flavours but the quality of the produce was incredible and the presentation… well, it almost looked to good to eat. Word of warning: this dish is no longer on the menu but their new salad with cauliflower and barley sounds equally as good. Perfect for a weekday breakfast or lunch date or just to chill mid-afternoon with a pot of tea!
