I purchased a grab one voucher for a 3 course meal — $ 20 for two people. We thought this was a great deal. .. we were sadly wrong. To be honest, there was about $ 8 worth of food each — a piece of pita with garlic to share, a small pizza with limited toppings and the smallest serving of pasta imaginable to share also. The meal ended with a small scoop of ice cream. We were never asked for a drink order and as it is the middle of summer were very thirsty. Service was slow with only one person working. The food did taste okay — nothing amazing just average. I’m sorry to say that I could honestly make much nicer Italian food at home any day. I think if you want to try the place out then the voucher was okay, but the whole point of a grab one is to get a great meal for a deal price — this place simply skimped on the amount so that you really only paid for what you got — no deal price and in fact paid more than what it was worth. I am glad to have finally tried the place out for myself — service was average, food average and value average. Would not go back again.

Seams to be a lot of bad reviews that don’t get recommended for this restaurant, and from my experience eating there tonight I can understand why there is many bad reviews. I had tried to book a table using the instructions on the grab one voucher, was told I can leave a message for the owner and he will call me back, didn’t happen. Still we planned to meet at the restaurant, the owner? Wanted us to order a full four pizzas even thou one of our group was running late. When I asked if we can wait, and told the owner she’s not far away, he said that we had to order now… It’s wasn’t until we said that we are going to wait that he walked off and clearly left us waiting when the late member of the group arrived less than five minutes later. This is not insurmountable, I might still be a repeat customer if the food is good. But sadly that is not the case here. Pizzas with limited toppings, the margarita only one large slice of tomatoes per pizza slice, no basil, a limited sprinkling to some green herb, hard to tell what it was due to the lack of it, cheese all dumped in the middle leaving a large tasteless crust. Only giving tree stars to try and trick the recommended rating into actually displaying my review. And in their defence at least they have learnt from the below review and installed some blinds that can be pulled down in the front window. Maybe they will learn from this one… Either way I won’t be back to buy pizza…

So straight up I haven’t eaten here. And I’m going to tell you why. We were wanting dinner for the family after a lovely day at the beach, not too far from home, preferably Italian. Oh look, we’ve got a voucher for that pizza place in Onehunga — let’s go. We pulled up right outside, there was no one inside but the handful of tables were set nicely and the banquette along the wall looked inviting. There’s pastas and salads on the menu too and we thought we’d found a place with something to please everyone. We sat down at the table furthest from the front but there was a problem. The sun. True enough, we’d been out in it all day and had our full complement so may not be a problem for some people. For the five of us though, that big plate glass window with that big burning sun coming down in the West was just too much to bear so we had to leave. Such a shame and easily remedied by a blind. Really, in the early evening this place is on FIRE. We might go back in the Winter.
