I’m in two minds about this Italian rest on the plus side the service is friendly able to answer all my questions about the dishes and attentive. and the free BYO with no corkage, bonus, but sadly my meal just didnt live up to expectations. I ordered from the specials board spaghetti and meatballs and while to sauce was rich with tones of tomato flavor that was the only note and became overwhelming very quickly and at $ 28 it didnt seam like good value. All and all not a bad suburban rest. but also not somewhere will be in a hurry to head back to.

Bosco Verde is a fantastic Italian restaurant, dare I say my favourite Italain resturant in Auckland(I haven’t been to THAT many, but still…). It’s always busy and for good reason. The staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is excellent with their specials changing regularly and most importantly it has very tasty food. Their are two sizes for all pastas and most other dishes, entrée and main. The entrée size is big enough for a main, particularly if you are thinking about getting a starter or dessert. The main size was very large and for the one person who ordered it, too big to finish however they had takeaway containers. The specials always sound amazing. Last time we tried three of them, ravioli, crespelle and the fish of the day as well as the tortellini and maccheroni. The ravioli was filled with pumpkin and beef and served with a smoked paprika and martini rosso sauce and it was exceptional. My friend who ordered it gave it a 10⁄10. I asked the waitress what was in the sauce(it was so creamy and delicious) but she said it was a secret. My partner had the fish of the day which was snapper in a tomato sauce with scalloped potatoes, roasted capsicum and carrots. The fish was fantastic with a wonderful sauce and the scalloped potatoes were amazing, so rich and creamy. This time the server was happy to tell me that the recipe was from cuisine magazine so I’ll have to track it down. Yum! I had the crespelle, a savory crêpe, which was filled with chicken and scallops and served with a creamy mushroom sauce and bacon. Again, it was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of scallops. The bacon was a little bit over-powering with the mushroom sauce but who doesn’t like bacon? The maccheroni was tasty but a bit boring(at least in comparison to the other dishes) and the tortellini was tasty but very rich so I would recommend ordering an entrée size rather than main as it was huge. I ordered the lemon crème brulee for dessert which was on the specials board and it was heavenly, just the right amount of lemon and smooth and creamy. They also have free BYO and do takeaways. I have found it really hard to find Grandmother appropriate restaurants and Bosco Verde has become my go-to for when older relatives visit.

I really love Italian restaurant, you can never go wrong with carbs and parmesan cheese in my opinion and Bosco Verde really doesn’t disappoint. I came here for a family dinner and everyone had such a great time, especially my Aunty who enjoyed it very much after an entire bottle of wine. I wanted to try something a little different from my usual choice of carbonara so I ordered their cannelloni and ohhhhh my god was it good. They were perfectly cooked pasta tubes(no hard bits) stuffed with spinach, ricotta, spinach and pine nuts and their sauce oh the sauce… it’s made with three different cheeses. HEAVEN. It’s quite a lovely restaurant to sit in, I wouldn’t call it romantic but it is family focused and cosy and very pleasant. Something I did like about this place was that they offered small and large versions of some of their dishes which I think is great, especially when they vary the price.

A small Italian restaurant with a warm, dated décor and free BYO corkage sounds divine. Who doesn’t like creamy fettucine or a thin crust pizza? If this sounds like your fancy, ignore Bosco Verde. The worst kind of business is one that has an artificial superiority because of a lack of near-by competition. Bosco Verde will do well to visit some inner city restaurants and learn the meaning of customer service. The staff on the front desk are rude. Any onlooking waitresses or kitchen-staff will not acknowledge you. Waitresses, by the way, are teenage girls who lean on tables while taking your order and gossip on the floor, forgetting they are with earshot of the customers. Waitresses sipping drinks with their backs toward you while nonchalantly wiping a counter is a common sight, god forbid anyone would need service. NEVER get the takeaway option, that looks and tastes like reheated microwave food. Remember this place is ONLYBYO. Stubbornly I tried over and again to enjoy this place, which is more café than restaurant. Now, people receive a curt«No» when offering to go here, while I silently seethe. Bosco Verde needs to dramatically lift their game to attract, and keep, any new clientele.

Another old Italian favourite, this time at Greenwoods Corner in a kind of crappy location off the shoppers’ carpark. Nonetheless it’s been around for years and has a loyal clientele who come back time and again for the amazing food, both to dine in the majorly 80s style restaurant booths and to take away the excellent pizzas. The 80s influence kind of spreads to the whole dining experience with teenage floor staff and frankly, pretty bad décor. None of this matters because once you’ve had a glass or two of your favourite red and got your carb food coma going on it’s all good. You can get your drinks here of course but I recommend BYO with FREE corkage y’all — see? Retro! The last meal we ate here my husband got giant beef-filled Ravioli with a Paprika and Marsala Cream sauce and OMG it was so good I just kept eating his sauce like it was a soup. It was on the Specials menu so not available all the time but if you see it, order it because that sauce is a taste sensation like no other — it’s SO good. Take your older rellies here — they will love it.
