If you’re looking for a quality hotel, keep looking. Although the Quadrant can boast a prime location, it’s awkwardly built with a very narrow, uncomfortable layout. Although there’s no noticeable construction ongoing, several places in the hallway had exposed plaster as if repairs had been started, then abandoned without explanation. The gym is about the size of a shoebox, and an overeager staff member tried to eject me for working out at half-past five in the morning since the room wasn’t scheduled to open until six o’clock. I recommend you avoid this place because let’s face it, you deserve better.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Let me tell you why… –we were able to check in & have access to our room by noon. –2 complimentary glasses of wine –wifi is free & unlimited(a rarity in Auckland) –washer/dryer in room with laundry powder provided. Score! –close proximity to shops/restaurants on Queen St, Albert Park, Auckland University, shops/restaurants at the Britomart, 24-hour grocery store, ferry terminal, bus/train stops, Skycity, & Auckland Museum. –clean room, clean bathroom, comfortable bed, kitchenette with fridge/microwave/dishwasher/dishes/utensils/coffee & tea, and a balcony with a great view(just mind your step!). –trendy hotel

The Quadrant is a nice little hotel; the whole place is really stylish, there’s a great bar, and a you can have a spa outside in the middle of the city. It’s also usually reasonably priced. I stayed in a one bedroom room, and it was plenty big: not huge, but it was perfectly fine and had everything I needed. The bathroom was perhaps the most disappointing aspect: quite small and not as good looking as the rest of the place. The best aspect of this hotel though are the balconies: everywhere has a balcony, and if you’re fortunate and/or nice to the receptionist you’ll get a room on the harbour side and can just hang out there and watch the ships come in, which is way better than just watching another Friends replay on the TV.
