Nice café fare in the trendy and vibrant Britomart district. The service is always good here and it’s a good spot to people watch and see the activity around Britomart. They all day Britomart breakfast(available as vegetarian) is a good feed and yummy too. Lots of other good brunch or lunch options available too. It’s a licensed café so you can enjoy a drink with your meal.

Awesome brunch! Not really a surprise since this place is always busy. Their«Britomart» is definitely worth ordering. I couldn’t decide over eggs Benedict or the classic breakfast, but the waiter was very helpful and assured me that I can get hollandaise sauce with eggs. Homemade hash, beans and super crispy bacon were the highlights of the meal, the French stick bread was easy to eat and really sweet. Huge Portobello mushroom and perfect poached eggs. Couldn’t have asked for more really. Worth the dosh.

Great spot on the Quay St side of Britomart with huge windows offering a view to the harbour and some sunshine, plus a large outdoor space for those warmer, sunnier days. Weekend menu offers a range of breakfast and lunch dishes including a breakfast salad, eggs benedict and slow cooked beef short ribs, so there’s something for the light eaters and the«help I need carbs» diners! Add to that a spicy tomato juice — or upgrade to a Bloody Mary! — and its a great weekend solution. Our only problem was that the shift for most of the floor staff seemed to end around 1.30pm — including the manager who sat down and enjoyed her lunch with friends — and we were basically ignored from then on. Had to get up to order coffees(after trying to get someone’s attention for about 10 mins), ask someone to clear table, and felt totally invisible. Given the café closes at 3pm they could have kept someone on to look after the 3 tables still in the café. Minor gripe but left a bad impression.

Wow this place is really great. In the fancy Britomart prescient with lovely outdoor tables with a bit of shade for those hot summer days. I order the French toast with banana whip(mostly to see what banana whip was) which was really yummy, served with Banana chips, fresh banana and the whip smothered with maple syrup. I will be going back.

The French toast is incredible! Coffee was a bit pricey for a cup(we found better coffee down the street at The White Rabbit) but we loved our service and overall experience!

Ice coffee with cream is awesome here, I see there’s free WiFi. Always a bonus. The view across the road is quite nice. Pleasant staff. Good place to take a business meeting outside of the office.

OMG! How can I did not have brunch last time when I stepped inside there and asked for the location of another restaurant? This café is gorgeous ! No matter the food or service. I had lamb, scrambled egg and black pudding for break fast. As a spicy food lover, i was impressed by the fresh chilis inside the scrambled egg. Their friendly staff also recommended me to have an orange yogurt smoothie, which was also fabulous. Besides, this place is also good for friends and small families to enjoy a brunch. Just highly recommend here!

Had to come back for a proper meal after the cool July Elite Hopt event! Came for a late lunch and was a bit concerned when I saw almost all the tables taken, as I wouldn’t have been able to take a seat! Luckily, I found one but goes to show how popular Quay St Café is! Able to browse their menu and am highly interested to try both their light breakfast and great all day brunch menu. They also have a wide range of other interesting drinks, to suit any café-go-er. Was able to have a look through their extensive range of sweets in the cabinet that I would love to come back and taste. Ordered the roasted vege salad from the cabinet with a coconut & lychee smoothie(so unique!). The salad was slightly chilled and had spinach, chickpeas, sunflower seeds, soft kumara with an oily dressing. Really liked the smoothie– for it’s freshness and surprises pieces of raw coconut flesh. Friend ordered the warm puy lentils, roasted jerusalem artichoke, spinach, goats cheese w poached egg, toasted walnuts, truffle oil from the menu. Was simply presented and tasty, so I heard. A fan of their interior of exposed-concrete ceiling, green wall in the back corner and open glass window exterior. A truly neat space and wonderful café!

Excellent venue to have meetings over a big brekkie, friendly prompt service The Brit is filling(22 $) and with a smoothie(7 $) to top it off. Waitresses are really sweet and helpful.

What a fantastic morning experience on our first morning out in Auckland. The service was quick and very pleasant, the crowd was lively without being overly loud and the setting was comfortably local and fresh. The menu was diverse, though felt a bit limited, but the pricing was more than reasonable. The feta, dill and potato cake with eggs and bacon was superb as was the French toast with pumpkin. The presentation was certainly several cuts above what one would expect at a local breakfast nook. More like local place meets haute cuisine. A very good and fun place for breakfast! Well done. FREE Wifi — nuff said! No but seriously, this a great spot to have a casual business meeting — plenty of seating, not too loud and their coffee and juices are always on point. Plus they are licensed just in case you’re meeting calls for an afternoon tipple. Food-wise the menu is extensive, with an all day brunch and lunch options as well as a heap of sides for you to add in as you see fit. I particularly enjoy their open chix sandwich served with onion rings, kumara yoghurt and chipotle sauce… delish! I also just have to say that the staff here are brilliant — friendly and efficient. Ideal!

I’m living in Auckland for two months and this is about a 10 minute walk from my flat. I passed this restaurant on my way to the piers and thought it looked like a great place to breakfast/brunch on a weekend. The next Sunday I ventured down for brunch around 11 am. The atmosphere is very quaint, with windows surrouding the restaurant so you can see lots of different things. I was dining alone and when I arrived no table was available. I was told I could stand to the side and wait for something to become avaialble. I was offered water and asked if I wanted to order coffee while waiting. After a few minutes I was told I could be seated at the end of a larger table by myself and possibly have other guests seated there as well or could wait for another smaller table. I chose to sit at the end of the larger table. I planned to read and enjoy my breakfast and didn’t mind if others were seated with me. My coffee arrived quickly, but I was then not given any serviced or checked on for probably close to 10 minutes. I almost got up to ask for service and considered just leaving. I was eventually waited on and asked for my order. She was pleasant but had seen me many times before she eventually made it to my table. The food was good. The coffee was good. I just would have liked better service. I would go back again.

The light-bathed Quay Street Café is a sunny place to shake off your jet lag. I took a table near the window and ordered the pan fried haloumi with silverbeet, carrot, walnut and current dressing. I was expecting a salad but received a pretty incredible hot dish with pureed carrot and nicely steamed silverbeet(chard). The dish as a whole was slightly sweet for my taste but I loved the creativity and ate every bite of it. With my meal, I sipped a refreshing beetroot, apple, carrot and ginger juice squeezed on site. They have loads of drink options including all manner of fresh juices, smoothies, soft drinks, wine and beer. I imagine it’s totally rammed during weekend brunch but it was a cinch getting a table for a midday meal on a Monday. Next time, I’m getting the chilli fried egg with crushed avocado!

This is a nice café, open and cheerful with plenty of natural light and depending on what you want a view of, either Quay Street or Gore Street or Tyler Street there is seating to cater to that. Quay Street Café has a diverse menu with a focus on fresh produce and great coffee(well it has been every time I’ve been). The fruit is a nice light way to start the day or a freshly made juice which are pretty good here too, especially the house spiced tomato or beetroot concoction. The staff are friendly too which is always a bonus, a nice café to sit and relax.

Quay Street Café is located in the Britomart Precinct. It’s a long, naturally lit room occupying the whole depth of an old art-deco building. Now with that established, let’s not beat around the bush: this is hands down the best all-day breakfast establishment in Auckland. It’s a big call, but one I’m confident to make for the fact that breakfast dishes here are invariably freshly prepared, innovatively composed and superbly prepared and presented. There’s a pronounced emphasis on fresh vegetables alongside the usual eggs and bacon that add some edge and zest to your breakfast. Add to that top-notch espresso and a vast range of teas, and you have Auckland’s best breakfast spot.
