This is a review for the restaurant. Fish market is great. Good variety and fresh! A bit disappointed with the restaurant experience. Atmosphere– casual dining, mixture of outdoor, café, bar, open market seating. Service– they try hard but the staff doesn’t seem to know the menu very well Food– generally too much lemon and pepper. They have real good fresh seafood, not sure why they spice it up so much. We got a three course special. Started with mussels, then pan fried John Dory, finished with mango ice cream. Mussels was a bit bland except for all the pepper that I kept on tasting. Fish was very nicely done. I love the mango ice cream. We also got the seafood linguine. Nothing to write home about. Blend, and again filled with peppers. Drinks– good selection. The three course special gives you a glass of wine also Price– little on the expensive side as it’s not really set up to be a high end restaurant. We Ended up spending ~$ 90 for three people for lunch Parking– free for one hour across the road. $ 4/hour right outside but you can redeem that in the restaurant. Others– would go for the fish market, maybe buy some seafood or deli food but wouldn’t go for the restaurant again.

I feel it is risky getting the seafood platter as most establishments appear to consider it a fine opportunity to throw whatever assemblage of items handy together and overcharge, Seafood Central is no exception. Though within spitting distance of chiller cabinets groaning with Poseidon’s bounty at the excellent Auckland Fish Market, much of what arrived on my table, I suspect, started life in the freezer. What items were fresh were flavourless and undercooked, as in cold on the inside. The chowder tasted like warm milk with seafood pieces. Not to mention it had a skin, likely from a trip to the microwave. With the location and access to great seafood it is a real shame how badly Seafood Central turned out on this, my first visit. I will return but only to get Fish and Chips from nearby Oceanz Seafood

Amazing Salt & Pepper Squid salad! The best I’ve ever had in fact! Loads of squid, yummy dressing, awesome wasabi Mayo, sweet roasted cashews and a mountain of mesclun. 5 stars for this salad. I’ve eaten here before and had other meals from the menu, but this one deserves a special mention. Unfortunately, the 3 out of 5 star overall rating is because both times I’ve eaten here the service hasn’t been great. They forgot my diet coke(the one drink we ordered)… And, I’m all for live music being a musician myself, but it was really loud and I had to shout across the table to be heard. I’ll be back for that salad, but maybe during lunch time when there are less customers so the staff can remember my order.

With two boisterous hungry toddlers to consider my friend and I decided to meet at the local Auckland Fish Markets for a spot of lunch, a glass of wine or two and some rays of sun in the courtyard. Our pick; the Market Seafood Brasserie — a scan of their menu gave us an enticing choice including seafood platters, fish and chips, burgers, pan fried scallops and of course the fish of the day to name a few. Fabulous service, great outdoors seating perfect for a summers day and even a sandpit for your toddlers enjoyment we were pleasantly surprised, and will be back to enjoy the Hoki Fish Burgers again! A great spot where the little ones are welcome and it wont break the bank at sixteen to twenty five dollars for a meal, and around thirty dollars for a bottle of wine for two to share. Had such a great experience, of delicious food, spacious seating, friendly and attentive waiters, and a child friendly play area, how could I not return again.
