We had a function here for my sons 1st birthday and christening on Mothers Day.
Absolutely Amazing day food was on point and fresh and hot. The staff were absolutely amazing we had about 80 – 100 people that day and it was just a great amount of space. One downside were the jugs its $ 20 for a jug of fizzy i mean really? Surely because we had a function there it would have been less than that and Alcohol was a bit over priced but i mean apart from that it was an amazing day especially the help from Monga he was just so brilliant that day thanks guys

About six beers on tap, like Tiger, Heineken, and Monteiths. Some bar food. Can usually find a possie to your liking, either a dark wood panel wall and a couch, stand up tables in a courtyard, or seated tables by the pool area. Nice on a warm day.
The three steps may catch a few people out.
Has a restaurant area as well.

I’ve been here quite a few times and really a lot of people get all over the top with how «awesome» they think this bar is. I personally haven’t found it to be that amazing. Don’t get me wrong, the staff are nice and the bar layout is the usual but really just another bar in Auckland. A lot of students would frequent this bar and a lot of dance gigs used to occur here. Not sure if that’s still the case. If you eat here, then expect some glorified pub food, but not that it’s a bad thing. Sitting near the pool can be nice, but yet again the usual set up.

I went to Backyard for a dance gig with lots of different DJ’s which was super cool and lots of fun.
They have lots of space to flood the floor with dancers, and the large stretch bar, works well with really efficient staff working behind who knew their stuff.
The resort feel outdoor area is just awesome for chilling out, lots of seating and a really neat pool to take a dip in should you feel inclined.
I like that the Backyard has lots of options of seating areas, that they have great helpful staff, and that the music is pumping and the dance floor is grooving when the gigs are rocking.
If you’re after a bite to eat, the menu has fantastic pizzas and I especially love the decadent kiwi twist desserts!
Backyard also hires out the venue for functions or meetings too, so this is good to know if you’re celebrating a special birthday soon.

Backyard bar is so completely underrated and underused in my opinion. Oh the things I would do with this place if I were an events manager! Firstly, the bar itself is a fantastic set up — it is a big expanse with a huge dance floor, big bar area to avoid clogging with the queues of people waiting for drinks and then there is the amazing outdoor area. When you walk outside there is a huge pool and patrons are welcome to drink around the perimeter of it. This bar is PERFECT for summer gigs and I don’t think I saw a single one here from the summer just been! The staff here really need to get this bar out there more because it has SO much potential. The only things I have seen it being used for as of late are for bikinis comps and they can do so much better than that…

Backyard Bar is a decent spot for a few quite drinks after work, or to watch some sports.
The accessibility, just off the motorway at Northcote, and plenty of parking make it a pretty easy place to organise drinks with friends. There is a nice outdoor seating area, but it fills up pretty quickly so it’s worth trying to book for that.
The menu is pretty standard pub fare — burgers, steaks, salads and pizzas and the like. It’s all perfectly, eatable, but nothing amazing. The calamari was pretty good, but to be honest you can get the same thing at almost every pub in Auckland these days. In short, I wouldn’t let the food put you off a visit, but if you’re looking for a special dining experience, look elsewhere.
The service was friendly and attentive and overall the Backyard is a pleasant and convenient local. I’ll be there again, particularly once footy season kicks off.
