«One of my top 5 best meals in my life!», to quote my wife. A deliciously subtle mix of unexpected flavor combinations that I would have described as an explosion of decadence in my mouth! The ingredients are fresh, and the food is prepared quickly. I expect to travel here again just to try the different meals that will be offered. And oh my, the Purple Cloud desert…

In efforts to mix it up and not walk into Bebo’s Café one more time, we decided to try the place next door. Really disappointing. I had the sierra(fish) with rice and beans. Holy dryness! I could barely chew it, it was gross. My boyfriend had pollo guisado and he also wasn’t a fan. My water was served in a dirty cup too. Our server was quite miserable and I don’t blame her. There were like 2 other people in the restaurant aside from us.

Terrible food and service maybe it was just an off night. I have traveled the world and had dinner at over 500 establishments around the world this was in the bottom ten % walk a few more blocks.

I was here last year, we ate there almost everyday the food was good… I went there today the ambiance is not the same, I spoke to the owner and told her they should play topical music, I’m visiting the island on vacation I don’t want to hear elevator music… I ordered the roast pork rice and beans, I’m Puertorican so I know my food… the pork was old, dry and over cooked the beans had no flavor the rice was also old, and the owner never changed the music… don’t go there you will be disappointed …

Tried this place after the owner saw us walking around in condado and spoke about her restaurant. It was family owned and seemed like a nice place. It was our first meal in puerto rico so we were not sure what to expect. I ordered the mofongo with vegetables and my husband got the arroz con pollo(a house speciality). pros: — food was quite tasty and the papaya juice was really good — the owner was nice and seemed really invested in her business — I liked the menus printed as a newspaper. I was actually looking around for the menu lol — there was a situation with an american family at the next table who were basically being loud asses and making fun of the food and complaining about everything. the server/manager handled this very politely and professionally. cons: — the food took forever to come(over an hour) — the mofongo was good but the vegetables were frozen on the inside :( — service was very spotty, there was one primary server who was spaced out and not doing his job well. took a really long time to order our food and to pay the bill. overall, a decent place but needs to hire more staff and get better organized.

Great place to eat. I ordered the pork mofongo and it was so good that i wanted to dance and sing. The piña coladas are great. I had two of them and i dunno how i walked back to my hotel room in a str8 line. the rum they used was so smooth but snuck up on me right when i left the restaurant. The manager ensured that i enjoyed my meal and was very friendly. Clean place, great for family outtings. a must when you come.

The food was good and the restaurant was very nice and clean. The staff was helpful and explained the menu really well. Got the seafood paella while my husband got the pork monfungo. The paella was really good and I had no complaints. Although the monfungo was good, it was definitely not the best. We probably would not go here again, since there were better tasting food elsewhere but it was a great restaurant. It was a little on the expensive side compared to some of the places we had been to in San Juan.

I ordered a steak skirt wrap and by the time it came out it was cold. We had a group of six and they forgot to bring two of the orders. The two orders that they forgot were salads and it took them an additional 15 minutes to get it to the table. The food was not impressive even though the menu pictures look fantastic. I would not recommend this place if you’re going with a medium or larger group. Maybe it would be a better experience if you went individually or as a couple.

No clue if the food is good as we didn’t stay. We showed up, were promptly seated, and then waited 15 minutes for someone to come by with a menu or even water. There was plenty of waitstaff just standing around. If you want some puerto rican food at a casual restaurant, go to Platos.

Affordable and convenient to the doubletree. They had amazing coffee and a good breakfast menu. Helped start the first day of our trip on a great foot. They also speak English fairly well.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside but it really is a fantastic little restaurant with awesome local fare. Solid timely and friendly service. The fish special and plantain were amazing!

The food is great but the wait time is awful! Customer service is not their priority we waited about 45 min for our food. Keep in mind we were the second couple in the restaurant.

DELICIOUS! Suggested by a local our first night in Condado, and it didn’t disappoint. One of the few places with a decent crowd on the Sunday night we arrived(literally everywhere else seemed dead). Excellent introduction to mofongo. We ordered it with the steak cooked medium. It was very well prepared with excellent flavors. The seafood paella was also super tasty. Moist without any fishy flavors. We liked both dishes so much, we took leftovers home for an afternoon snack the next day. Servers were very patient and attentive. Bright ambiance with colorful art on otherwise blank walls. Would certainly recommend for a casual night out. Oh, and don’t skip the pitcher of sangria!

This place was great!!! We were going on a cruise out of Puerto Rico and decided to come into town a few days before the cruise. We stayed at the Hampton Inn which was directly across the street from Basilia’s restaurant and we(all 6 of us) loved it. I will say we were a little leery at first because it was recommended by the hotel and they gave us a 15% discount card, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. First we went in to check out the menu and see what they had to offer. The menu was printed like a newspaper and I thought how cute and different. Way to think out of the box. We went to dinner around 7:00 — 7:30 and there were not a lot of people(at first) but the employees remember us coming in and asking about the menu and the type of food. They employees were really friendly and helpful explaining the items on the menu. We were able to talk and look over the menu and our server didn’t rush us or make us feel stupid for not knowing what some of the food items were. We were there on a Friday night and the restaurant have some specials that we were able to order from as well. I ordered: Appetizers: fried meat fritters Main Course: Seafood Paella And LOVED it all; I could finish the seafood paella because it was so big, but it was good. I would recommend this restaurant and on our next rip to Puerto Rico I will be back!

This place is overhyped, overrated, and has the worst service in the area. And the food? Truly it isn’t that good. First-off the menu is quite confusing. Trying to be innovative, they printed it in the form of a newspaper, something that, if I were the owner, I’d change immediately. I think it’s a waste of paper and very unsanitary. It took fifteen to twenty minutes for the waitress to come to us and take our drink orders. By that time we were ready to order our food also, the girl was simply inattentive and when she repeated the order she got it wrong! From that time onwards it was simply downhill. Our food took twenty-five minutes to arrive to the table, you’d think we ordered red-snapper or Paella. Twenty-five minutes for an order of two mofongos?! In a restaurant that was far from full? The shrimp-stuffed mofongo I ordered was bland and tasteless. There are far better places than Basilia’s in the area for the same type of food, even if they are a bit more expensive. All in all, the ordeal took two hours and fifteen minutes in which the waitress came three times: to take our order, to ask if everything was«fine», and to bring the check. I left no tip and supremely disappointed. Avoid this place.
