Casita Miramar is a warm, inviting and artistic space. The restaurant was right down the street from our hotel so we thought let’s do this! It took a long time for the food to come out. However, to make the wait more palpable we received complimentary appetizers. The wait staff was awesome. I ordered a seafood dish, which was outstanding. I also ordered passion fruit sangria. My husband ordered a pork dish. He was very pleased with his meal. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but we were on vacation. So, we were ready to relax and splurge. If you’re in the area, try it.

Trying to get to the place was a bit difficult for us as this was our first night in San Juan and we decided to rent car, but GPS directions were near impossible to follow. Nonetheless, we were very glad we finally made it to the restaurant. The place has a lot of old charm to it, the food was absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous. The cost of any plate is at least $ 17 ranging up to about $ 30; however, they do give a small soup and appetizer to start the meal on the house. The service was very good, no long waits and a very attentive and energetic staff. Definitely recommend Casita Miramar for a nice dinner!

I stopped here on a Friday night after recommendations of a friend who had recently traveled to Puerto Rico. This place by far exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The food was so delicious I wish we had had time to go back to try other things on the menu!

We should have eaten here every night of our vacation. Abundant and delicious food, friendly service, good prices, and comfy authentic ambiance. Best tres leches cake on earth! Skip the halfhearted hotel fare. Walkable from Condado. Food menus are on adorable large chalkboards placed near/on your table. I would recommend that they print up a cocktail and beer/wine offerings menu. Printed drink menus don’t seem to be a thing in Puerto Rico, but a place catering to las touristas could boost its liquor sales considerably this way.

From the minute we walked in, to the minute we left, this was the perfect experience. The service was wonderful and enthusiastic. The food is quite literally some of the best food I have ever put in my mouth. The fried chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach and plantains was so rich and flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The swordfish my husband ordered was nothing short of culinary wizardry. The golden raisins in the sauce were the perfect compliment to the fish. The tres leches cake is the best we’ve ever had. We are only in Puerto Rico for two more days, but we wish we had the time to try everything on the menu!

First dinner at San Juan and we loved this place. Atmosphere was impressive and waiters were all super friendly. We had the fried codfish and plantain soup for the free appetizer. I had the chicken stew, friends had the mofongo with seafood, ribs, cilantro pork and everyone loved their dishes and was super full. Mango sangria and passionfruit sangria were delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Nice place for a fancy dinner, everything on the menu was appetizing. Dinner was tasty, of course, be ready to shell out some money since the meals seem to start at the $ 17 at least. However, they do bring an appetizer and a soup courtesy of the restaurant, so it gives you a chance to taste some other items on the menu in case you’re curious. Another perk: the parking lot in the back is an awesome perk seeing as to how finding parking in the city is really tough.

Casita Miramar serves avocados the size of your head. It was a part of their specials that night — you could get either an avocado stuffed with shrimp, or an avocado stuffed with swordfish. It’s what I should have gotten. But since literally everyone at my table(8 other girls) ordered some variation of that, I decided to be different and order some type of seafood fried rice. I definitely decided wrong. The flavor of my rice was pretty good but the rice itself was a little too mushy for me. It was also pretty greasy, so I guess that just added to the mushiness. The stuffed avocado on the other hand was great(I stole some bites of my dining buddies’). The avocado was nice and ripe, and was a good contrast the the creamy sauce that was on top. Lesson learned — sometimes, it’s okay to go with the crowd. P. S. Skip the mango sangria.

can’t go wrong with anything you order here. even the free appetizers are delicious. I got the cod fritters with a side of salad while my date got a seafood dish(mixture of many different seafoods… can’t remember the name). They were both amazing. We couldn’t help licking off our plates… even the dressing was amazing.

Best service and attention to detail ever! You are greeted with complimentary plantain soup and codfish fritters. They have menus in both English and Spanish and the entrees are quite savory. I wish they had more vegetarian options. Entrees may seem pricey, but overall it is a great deal for the quality you get. If you are on the occasional«pescatarian» side of things, the codfish with root vegetables is quite tasty. Upon finishing our meal, we got a «chichaíto»(anise + coffee bean) to finish off a great evening at a place with a very fine ambiance. No pretentiousness, just great food and amazing service.

No wait on a Sunday evening, and we even got to sit out on the terrace. This is a good, solid restaurant for a clear evening in San Juan. Fortunately they have a parking lot directly across the street, so that made life a lot easier. The terrace was lovely, the sangria($ 9) and the cinnamon ribs($ 20) were great also. It’s also a really nice touch that they bring you two free appetizers and a post-dinner shot. I really liked everything overall. My only two complaints were that the bathroom was a pain to get to, especially if you’re seated outside. It’s like a labyrinth. The other annoyance is that instead of paper menus, they have the menu written on huge chalkboards that the staff have to carry around with them from table-to-table. Wouldn’t it just be easier to print up new menus as it changes? There wasn’t any room for descriptions on the chalkboards, so we had to rely on our waitress to rattle off the contents of each meal, and commit that information to memory in order to make an informed decision. Maybe they think it’s a cute and novel concept, but to me it just seemed a little silly and inconvenient.

Delicious restaurant. They start you off with two free appetizers. And the staff is nothing but helpful. Food is delicious. I personally got the sweet plantain with shredded beef. I found the food to have a good mixture of spice, moisture, and overall flavor. Food so good I had to go twice! A definite must while in PR.

Last day of my trip to Puerto Rico this was the place I choose to come to for my bday dinner. It was a Monday evening and the place was very busy and they seemed understaffed. It didn’t take long for us to get seated. But once we actually got seated we didn’t have a waiter/waitress. The person who originally sat was flying back and forth seating others while giving us free samples of food apologizing for the wait. We waited 20 minutes before a waiter from a different area came over to ask if we needed help I wish I remembered what his name was. He said he would get our waitress another 15 minutes goes around with the waitress I knew were suppose to have kept looking in our general direction but never bothered to come over to see if we needed anything. Long story short the waiter that came over originally to ask if we needed anything ended up taking our order and waited on us the rest of the evening. The food was excellent! and I made sure to give our waiter who wasn’t suppose to even be in our area a huge cash tip and I made sure the waitress we were suppose to have seen it. I overheard a short argument they had. He basically told the waitress she should have done her job and helped us. Oh well. despite poor service at first we finally received great service along with amazing food. I had the guava glazed ribs which were so soft and tender they literally fell off the bone with plantains. I would definitely recommend coming here.

1) Passion fruit sangria– ok not too strong 2) Plantain soup– yum super tasty with a more salty savory kick 3) Avocado mahi mahi — quite good with fresh fish flavor 4) Cinnamon smoked pork ribs — can’t go wrong with ribs right? 5) Rice flour fritter with guava– guava is pretty popular addiction to dishes here 6) Catfish fritter — also a plus AmAzing must go to restaurant nearby my area of stay The menu seems to change pretty often placed on chalkboard My biggest meal here but that’s because the staff was super generous to offer us other tastings Not sure if they knew that we were foodies/yelpers but hey I don’t mind!

I had high expectations for this restaurant based on the reviews of my fellow Unilocalers. That said I’d give it 3.5 for the overall experience. Not a large restaurant, but it had ample seating. Well lit, and clean. Music wasn’t live the night we went, just so subtle tunes playing in the background. I like the green approach of the hand written board menu as well. On to the food… some hits, one miss. First they ran out of avocado the night we went(important to note that 40% of their menu contains avocado). We were greeted with the complimentary plantain soup, and cod fritters. While our soup was very good, and totally unique in taste, our first batch of fritters came to the table burnt and inedible. The waiter was gracious enough to bring us a fresh batch. I ordered the passion fruit sangria, which I wasn’t really pleased with, but I prefer traditional port sangria. The fried cheese y guava sauce was amazing! My boyfriends main course of stew chicken(with rice and beans) was also a good choice. However, I was not impressed with my choice of the seafood mofongo. Mahi-mahi with grilled shrimp in a cream sauce. While the seafood was super fresh and cooked to perfection, both the yuca mofongo and the creamy sauce were unappealing. I will say that this was my first experience with yuca mofongo, again I’d prefer the tradition plantain mofongo. The dessert made up for the main course however; a scrumptious coquito tres leche. For a romantic night out, or an evening with friends this is a very nice stop in San Juan.

Going to Puerto Rico was an amazing trip especially when it came to dining destinations. This restaurant has a unique charm that gives you a feeling from someones home, you walk up stairs here(not sure there’s elevator access), to your right a patio that has a romantic ambiance along with the humidity and temperatures from outside. Or you can go left to the main eating hall, it is narrow along with the great views, the seating is limited here so call ahead based on days of the week. The staff here are all freaking cool and good at their jobs. Even the buzzer has a passion for his work and this tells me if the staff are happy the product has to be great, right? They have both English and Spanish menus that are brought to you. In terms of food they have some great traditional Puerto Rican plates. I won’t go into specifics because I’m not a food critic nor experienced in eating Puerto Rican grub, but the food was tasty, portions are really great and their avocado plates are their signature plates. Try the pumpkin brûlée, not my favorite but definitely good to say the least. Definitely make date night here on your vacation, you won’t be disappointed.

I’m in San Juan for a week with my husband while he’s here for a conference, and on our first night here we decided to come to Casita Miramar based on the good reviews and the fact that it was an 8 minute walk from our hotel. It did not disappoint! The restaurant was super cute and charming. You enter up a common set of stairs, then go to the left for inside seating or to the right for outdoor seating. The hostess is on the left though, so we stopped by there first. We didn’t have reservations, and the restaurant was pretty busy, but we were a party of two and only waited about five minutes. We were seated outside, and immediately were brought water and the menus. As mentioned, the menus are only on large chalkboards, and they have them in English and Spanish. We started off with two complementary appetizers, the plantain soup and a codfish fritter. Both were so good, and a great start to dinner. We each ordered the house red sangria, which was delicious, refreshing, and not too sweet. As an appetizer, we took our waitress’s suggestion shared root vegetables stuffed with chorizo and this amazing foam sauce on top. It was perfectly cooked and so tasty! It was probably our favorite part of dinner. For our main courses, we had the avocado stuffed with shrimp served with a side of mashed root vegetables and the seafood mofado, which is apparently a customary dish of Puerto Rico and basically uses plantain as the grain. Both were fresh and delicious, but we didn’t finish the entire thing because we were trying to save room for dessert. We ate a coconut leche cake that was great, even for people who don’t love coconut. We had wonderful attentive service, and the ambience was great! Would definitely come again!

This place is the gem of Miramar and a must visit whenever you’re in the area. A local restaurant that caters an authentic Puertorican cuisine. I would have not known this restaurant if it wasn’t recommended by the front desk in the hotel I was staying. Plus the distance was also a factor, it was two blocks away from the hotel. Yes, its posted in Unilocal but the reviews was very inconsistent. I was quite skeptical but I figured that I have nothing to lose if I try. I’m glad that I decided to dine in because its exactly what I was looking for tonight. This place is a definition of don’t judge the book by its cover. Its absolutely different outside it look like a random old house. I was blown away when I entered, the interior was just stunning. I super love the romantic ambience, the Spanish invasion speak each and corner of this premises. I like how different this place to the rest of the restaurant within the area because its evident that the have a lot of things to offer. I must say that this place is unique and truly one of a kind. I suggest not to come here really hungry. This place is busy all the time and the service may tend to be slow. However, I assure you that its all worth it because the food here is superb. I also commend the complimentary food from appetizer to dessert. Thought the plantain soup was quite astonishing. I have never seen any restaurant served small amount of food in every course. Interesting fact that it help boost your appetite and even make you hungry. Herewith the food that I’ve ordered during my visit. Appetizer: Local Fried cheese with guava sauce — crispy and crunchy in the outside; the cheese had well balanced flavor and guava was taste absolutely divine. Entrée: Cassava Mopongo stuffed with mix seafood in garlic cilantro sauce — Perfection. Dessert: Tres Leche — Finest, creamy and luscious. I thought the overall food presentation, taste and flavor was impeccable and exquisite. Although, I believe the price was costly but the value of the food was exactly what your paying for. I applaud the hardwork and effort of the staff. Despite of the busy situation they maintain the professionalism and keep on smiling. My entire visit even more memorable because of the great hospitality ever.
