Bartender… s l o w. And no baccardi rum offered. It’s puerto rico, no baccardi. .get a clue. They brag, Is the birthplace of the Piña colada, yet, they have it pre-made via a machine like a spring break beach bar. Really… not much to brag on. Slow and absent-minded service; ordered a drink 3 times, never came. while sitting at the bar!

I was hesitant to go here looking at few negative reviews but turned out the place is amazing. First of all, I need to praise Patricia the hostess as well as our server tonight. She saw me looking hesitant and thinking whether to go inside or not and then she welcomed us inside. She explained drinks and food menu very patiently. I wanted to make some substitutions to our platter and she rapidly agreed to talk to the chef. Honestly, if I could, I would have given 10 stars to her hospitality. As for food and drinks, we had the appetizer sampler and it was good. We also had the chicken chicharrones which were good as well. I’d rate the food 4 stars. Overall, will go back again.

We were looking for a lunch spot and from my precious visits to San Juan, I can’t say I was generally impressed with food so I had low expectations. This place shattered them. Service was implacable, drinks were good and food was quite tasty and showed signs of care for each plate. Presentation was esthetically beautiful yet arranged in a way allowing a slightly different taste with each bite. We ordered simple things: Empanadilla(their version of the empanadas), a cob salad a nachos with chicken. The cilantro aioli for empanadas was very tasty and well done. Nachos had delicious marinated grilled chicken that somehow melted in your mouth. Meat was very fresh. Cob salad surprised me the most: from a native mix of green leaves to a nice touch of plantains and perfect avocado slices culminated with a touch of caramelized onions and watermelon dressing — I haven’t enjoyed a salad that much in a while. All was very well done. It also had bacon strips which I didn’t eat but my partner did and said it was cooked perfectly.

Came here for a take-out dessert one evening after reading all of the reviews about poor service here for sit-down meals… everything people have said is true! It took about twenty minutes for someone to bring out the slice of pie I ordered after I went to the kitchen door to ask what was going on. Immediately after the pie was brought out by someone in the kitchen the server who had ignored me previously was in my face to get my credit card from me. Giving them the benefit of the doubt I tried coming back here for the empanada they were out of on the first day. Well by day three they were still out of them! And service wasn’t any better than the first day either! I was going to try one of their«famous pina coladas» but couldn’t get anyone’s attention to order one. What a joke! You’re better off going into old town and getting one from the«real» original home of the piña colada!

The food is here is a let down and could be a lot better. I would expect a lot more island flavor but they don’t deliver on it. I ate here twice, I tried a traditional dish in the mofongo, wings, nachos, and a few empanadas… Items where very dry, over cooked, and light on flavor. It is pretty pricy here as well and not worth the price. I would look elsewhere for dining options.

The Pinacolada is the best ever. Dont order the ones at the pool bar, they are nasty. There appetizers are good especially the empanadas.

Well I am giving this place 5 stars coz of the PIÑACOLADA. The best piña colada u can ever try. I am not a big fan of piña colada s but our server CESAR told me how they make the piña colada n I couldn’t stop myself trying it. This is not a regular crushed ice piña colada it’s actually frozen. The quesadilla s were finger licking. I would totally recommend this place for the PINACOLADA if you are in the region u gotta try this place … The service was exceptional provided by Cesar. He provided insight of the menu. All in all worth it.

Our waiter was so nice and friendly. We ordered a Melonade to drink(Watermelon Lemonade) which was delicious and so refreshing! For lunch we both ordered the Vegan Black Bean Burrito, it had rice, black beans, avocado, sweet plantains, lettuce and tomato. It was soooo delicious, it completely surprise me since I am a vegan and it’s veeery hard to find vegan food in Puerto Rico, let alone something yummy that isn’t completely fried.(I’m Puerto Rican) My boyfriend isn’t a vegan and he loved the burrito(which also was like a wrap honestly) Their homemade piqué(hot sauce) was sweet and spicy just how I like it. It came with a salad and the vinaigrette dressing was also on point! :) Very happy!

We were staying at the Hilton Caribe and came here twice because they were reasonably priced and heard the food was better than the options are the Hilton Caribe. First night we came I was a little put off by the attitude of the hostess… we told her we had three people and she asked if we wanted to sit at the bar even though there were open tables. The tables needed to be cleaned, and she probably didn’t feel like doing it. Too bad because we don’t want to sit at the bar. She then came back over, yawned in our face and showed us to a table. Whatever. Our waitress certainly made up for that. She was very nice and at one point a manager came over and asked how we were doing and if we needed anything. I ordered the Empanadillas which were so amazing, and the cilantro aioli was to die for. I also ordered the big hot cuban wrap and was informed that they ran out of ham. I still got the wrap and asked for light mustard because it’s not my favorite condiment. I regret this because the wrap was a little dry without it, but still really good. Really full of meat and the pickles gave it the perfect amount of tang. We were going to order dessert, but the service was pretty slow and we didn’t feel like waiting ;-( The second time, we were waited on by Patrick. He informed us that there were no more Empanadillas or the Yuca fritters. Bummer. We opted for the coconut shrimp which were pretty good, but not amazing. Nothing like the empanadillas. He was very nice and really tried to make up for it. I got the cuban wrap again(boring I know) and was pleased to know they did have ham today. The ham really took it to the next level. Just the right amount of salt and grease. He refilled our drinks without us having to ask, and even gave us a map of Old San Juan and gave advice on places to go and see, even though he seemed really busy. I’m not sure why this place doesn’t have more stars. It’s cute and reasonably priced for a resort restaurant. The food is really good and even though the service is slow, the staff is very nice.

Had dinner here as we were staying at the Caribe. Cons: cold and noisy Pros: the chicken wings with garlic coconut sauce were delicious. I could imagine using that sauce on so many things. The garlic shrimp was okay. The shrimp was a bit over cooked but the side of rice was flavored nicely. Also had the tropical Bellini which was very good. The service was consistent and I would go again should we travel back that way.

Super slow service and overpriced. It was super close to our resort, and we were taking a break from the sun to sit in the shade and enjoy a light lunch on Valetine’s Day. Knowing that we were going out for dinner later, my expectations were not high, but I did not expect to wait for over an hour for our food — which came back as the wrong order. All said lunch took over two hours with consistently empty glasses on the table, the wrong order of food, an expensive bill, and just ok food.

The restaurant was ridiculously cold, the food was overpriced(probably because it’s a resort restaurant) and the food was okay. Service was good. Overall, I couldn’t wait to leave. The San Juan punch deserves 4 stars. It was a great cocktail!

Large portions of food; a little on the high price side. Mahi mahi pinchos; skewers of fish topped w tomatos was very good. Came with salad and Plantains. My wife got the Mofango. It had a lot of beef in it. It is a local dish with fried platains stuffed with meet. The island empendillas were very good but an expensive appertizer. Excellent mojitos. Pin Coladas and desserts looked good.

Our last little lunch in San Juan before jumping on the giant heavy machine that somehow magically flies through the sky… needless to say alcoholic beverages were required. Mom and I stopped here, it’s adjacent to the hotel but removed enough. It’s right along the road so you have a great spot for people watching — plus cute geckos. We sat outside and our server came right out to greet us. They have a great assortment of «island drinks» and ice cream drinks. Mom got a piña colada and it was arguably the best she had on vacation(most are available virgin as well). I had a standard margarita(okay, a few) and it had thick pieces of coarse salt and a great prominent silver tequila flavor. It’s nice when you’re shelling out $ 10 for a cocktail to be able to tell that there is liquor in it! Mom got the fish tacos(she had the quesadilla previously and liked that at well) and I had a cuban wrap. The fish on the tacos is available breaded/fried or pan seared, and on soft flour or crunchy corn shell. Mom got unseasoned pan seared with corn shells. and it came with a hot habanero house sauce, avocado and slaw. She liked them a lot. My cuban wrap came with french fries but I couldn’t even finish half the wrap! It was SOOOOOO salty(and I LOVE salt) that I was actually taking a break from the margarita to wash my mouth out with some water. There wasn’t any noticeable cheese or mustard, but the pickles and meat were definitely there. I don’t know why… but these french fries were phenomenal. Our server was prompt and checked back often, getting us out the door by the time we needed to get on our way. It was a cute and pleasant way to say adiós to our vacay.

Not great. The food is mediocre and service was too. The second day I tried to eat there they were out of chicken, shrimp, and steak. The veg burrito is full of rice, hardly any beans and needs more veggies. I don’t recommend this place.

We had to compare thePina Colada’s to Barrachina’s since they both claim to have invented them. 5 of us stopped for them and shared the chicken nachos. Both were ok, Barrachina won the best piña colada in our book.
