Hanse Cafe

The food is great, but the service is not. I have been a number of times and most of the time they make it clear they are not interested in serving us. If the place is reserved but no one is arriving for another hour you are not allowed to sit for a simple coffee. And its always reserved up. It’s become the only way to can sit here on the weekebds, regardless of how empty it is for hours. They are are also very unaccomidating in the morning as a place to get a coffee and relax on your way to work. To be honest the food is not good enough to compensate for the hassle of simply sitting to enjoy a good coffee. I wont recommend this place to my friends anymore. Especially after so many have had similar experiences now. Used to be my favorite place, but after the 5^th incident I just won’t go anymore, not worth the hassle and the bad feeling the experience leaves you.

Car avant de goûter on sent, voilà ce que j’ai aimé en arrivant chez Hansé Café: ça sent la nourriture saine! Vous voyez quelle genre d’odeur? Si vous voyez pas, allez-​y ;-) mais en effet, ça sent le le frais, le bio, le fait maison, le local. On a assez confiance sur la qualité de ce qu’on mangera par ici!
À tendance allemande, le menu du Hansé Café vous proposera majoritairement des bagels, des soupes et des brunchs. Ici une grande place est donnée à des ingrédients qui font du bien à notre petits corp :) il n’y a donc pas mille choix, mais de qualité.
Le bagel végétarien que j’ai goûté un dimanche de novembre à l’occasion d’un brunch était juste dé-​li-​cieux! Le goût, la texture, la taille, le service, le prix, … TOUT était parfait.
Et si jamais la qualité du Hansé Café se retrouve, juste à côté en version fleuriste! Même propriétaire, même sympathique accueil ;-)

I would eat here again, but it is really only a place to go when there is nothing better. The staff were nice although they failed to bring us everything we ordered until prompted and also got our order slightly wrong. The food on the whole was very good although I did find it a little overly salted.

Alors c’est la première fois que je mets un avis sans encore avoir testé mais je viens de prendre connaissance de ce lieu et il me parait vraiment chouette. Quelqu’un le connaît? Il font depuis peu la fondue au chocolat ! Je vais y aller ce week-​end et reviens sur Unilocal avec plein de photos !

I love this place. We were there for an early lunch during the christmas market in Carouge.
The staff were quick to offer us a high chair for our toddler and the quality of service remained high throughout — they were friendly and attentive.
We had the cheese/​meats plate and a vegetables gratin at around 15 francs each.
The plate was not exceptional but everything felt fresh and there was reasonable variety.
The gratin was very good and filling and combined a nice array of vegetables including swede and kohlrabi.
The yoghurt with fruit we ordered for the toddler was agreeable and included plenty fresh fruit.
The drinks, cappuccino and vin chaud were decent portions too.
The basket of bread was excellent with several different kinds and each one interesting.
The menu is interesting and to the vegetarian in our family it was felt to be excellent in choices by comparison with many menus in Geneva and Switzerland. The price was very reasonable and we left feeling satiated and delighted to have stumbled upon one of the jewels of Carouge.

Cute place and good location. Quick service and very polite. You will think all is good and it is. However the menu is quite small. I have a green smoothie which was pretty good but the salmon bagel looked better than how it tasted (hard and soggy at the bottom). The fact that it was also serve in a coffee saucer made quite a challenge to eat it.
Net an ok place to stop for a very quick bite and if OCalme literally 10m down the road is full.
Didn’t have coffee or desert. Although looked good. Maybe a better café than lunch place after all.
