Swiss Chocolate Heaven… LITERALLY! Lindt’s famous chocolate shop at the highest point in Europe is definitely a mandatory stop if you make your way up Jungfrau! With the influx of tourists visiting Jungfrau every day, this store seems very much like a tourist trap, but I assure you its well worth the visit! Unlike regular Lindt stores this one sells exclusive chocolates you can’t get anywhere else. Their pricing is also the cheapest from all the local stores in town so stock up if you want to gift them! I also really enjoyed the interactive cooking demonstrations. They have video projections that show you the step by step chocolate making process which is really cool. I ended up purchasing mixed bags of pre-assembled chocolates along with a bag of chocolates from the«pick and mix» section where I was able to assemble my bag of exclusive and limited edition chocolates. Make sure you ask for samples of the chocolates as well! The cashier usually hooks you up with samples once you make your purchase.

When you get to the top of the Jungfrau mountain it is truly breathtaking. You also get hungry after exerting all that energy and what better way to fill up than to have some tasty Swiss chocolate? Lindt(the most popular Swiss chocolate brand) knows this and preys on your cravings as well as your desire to bring something back with you from the top of Jungfrau so they built a speciality store right in the mountain that everyone passes by on their way back down to the tram. This isn’t the Lindt factory but a small touristy shop that I believe the true full title is «Lindt Swiss Chocolate Heaven» and was opened about a year ago and christened by Roger Federer of all people. So yes, its commercial as heck and no it’s not a heaven but a money grab(isn’t all of Switzerland?). However, this is the place to get«exclusive» Lindt chocolates that you can’t get at other stores. One of those is the exclusive«Diva» line of chocolates. Another is the chocolates specifically denoted«exclusive» and there are a quite a few. I like that they offer an option to «Pick and Mix» the chocolates so that you can fill a bag with assorted individually wrapped globe-shaped chocolates and I felt like this made for a great way to bring back souvenirs and share them with a lot more people than just a one-off chocolate bar. This looks and feels a lot like the bread factory in Disney’s California Adventure because it even has a small space for projecting videos of what the Lindt chocolate making process looks like. The best tip I can give you is to seek the free samples. There’s a machine that drops the chocolate into a bowl but if that isn’t working then just ask one of the employees. Like everything in Switzerland, these chocolates are expensive, a small bag of Pick and Mix cost 12 francs easy. That maybe housed 10 or so individual chocolates. But get your exclusive Lindt chocolates here and so you won’t come away from Jungrau empty handed.
