Reasonable, mellow hotel with shared bathrooms and nice(if not stellar) views. Looks like the building between this one and the Matterhorn is newer and may block some angles, but our room still had a nice shot. The hall toilet is shared by many of the rooms, though some have their own; our double had its own shower stall. Breakfast was fairly standard(and included), and there’s a reasonable den /living room with some overstuffed armchairs for relaxing after the day’s adventures. WLAN reception and speed was actually quite good. The normally-friendly owner is fairly strident about warning people away from dangerous mountain activities; I agree in concept, but it’s not clear how firm a grasp she has on the range. «Don’t go climb the Matterhorn on your own», yes; «Don’t go do the via ferrata on your own,» I’m less sure. Saying«I’ll go talk to the Alpine Center, then» can be a useful escape route.
