Santa Lucia Limmatplatz

The «Go-​to» restaurant for my family since moving to Zurich 2.5 yrs ago. We come here for just about every birthday, anniversary, and get togethers.
This place is great. Food is consistently good and relatively inexpensive for Zurich standards. The brick oven pizzas are our favorite here. The waitstaff is generally friendly. They always have enough high chairs for our toddlers as well as coloring pencils and papers to keep them busy.
The restaurant is fairly large and there is always space to accommodate «walk-​ins» even on busy weekend evenings. In the warmer weathered days, the sidewalk tables are comfortable and great for people-​watching in trendy Kreis 5.

The Santa Lucia in Kreis 5 is one of these Kreis 5 staples that has many people flock to eat on the evenings and weekends because the quality of its food really stands out amongst other Italian restaurants in the vicinity. I especially prefer it to most all of the other pizzerias I’ve been to in Zurich just because it feels like home.
In my opinion, the main course dishes are to be expected — they have pizze and and various kinds of pasta, some secondi with meat and fish and tiramisu and other Italian dessert icons. I used to keep ordering the Pasta Santa Lucia which is generally a safe bet (you can tell them to make it spicy or mild). Also, their calzone is, apparently, still one of the best in Zurich, according to my husband.
However, recently, I’ve ventured more in the antipasti region of the menu and have discovered some very awesome dishes: for one, if you’re into seafood, try their calamari saltati (sauteed calamari) which are just so good. Secondly, if you’re wallet allows it, opt for the Prosciutto di Parma Menatti dopo 14 mesi (14 month-​old aged prosciutto) which comes with flat bread (piadina) to eat it with. This is a winner! I usually just order either of them as a main course because of the price but, boy, they are worth it.
This is a no-​brainer. A good and affordable pizzeria with solid food and some really special dishes hidden in the antipasti menu.

I have had a couple of fairly underwhelming experiences here at this location of Santa Lucia. In general, I have had some great meals at the Corso location on Bellevue, but my trips to this one have not come close to the other one unfortunately.
One night, our party of three all ordered different pasta dishes that were unfortunately disappointing. My salmon pasta came with way too much cream to handle and felt like a huge rock in my stomach after just a few bites. It was closed to being categorized as a thick cream soup. My friend’s Tagliatelle all’arabiata were not cooked long enough and after the waitress was out of site for too long, he settled on complaining afterwards rather than keep waiting to be able to say something. When told afterwards, the waitress was nice enough to not bill us for his dish, so that was a nice gesture.
I have also found to get better pizzas for the same price at different Italian places in the area.

Santa Lucia belongs to a chain (Bindella).
You can get very good pizzas at an average price. The selection of the pasta is big and they have a decent wine menu.
This Santa Lucia is in the middle of the hip-​restaurant-​neighborhood. If you didn’t book a table at the other restaurant you will have a chance here.
You can sit outside in the summer (but no more then 4 people).
Some waiters are slow but it fits the Italian experience !
A cheap place in Zurich :)

Always a great choice: decent Italian food, great prices (for Zurich standards), and relatively easy to get a table. This is nothing for a special night but good when you’re hungry and not in the mood to prepare anything yourself.

I was here once, some while ago. Food is good (not overwhelming) and reasonably priced. But the service was horrible. First, the restaurant was packed and much too loud. Second there were 3 (!) waitresses for the whole restaurant — too little for a crowded evening. Third, my friend got a different pizza than she ordered — well, that happens. We asked to replace it (well, actually we asked to simply add the missing toppings), but that was not possible «…since the restaurant is so crowded and we would have to wait another 20 mins…». That killed the evening.
I will certainly not go again, unless I merely want to eat.

Good brick-​oven thin-​crust pizza, if that’s what you’re looking for in Zurich.

Es gibt Phänomene, die kaum zu glauben sind. Seit ich zurückdenken kann ist dieser Laden voll, jedesmal, wenn ich daran vorbeikomme. Ich wollte eigentlich nie eine schlechte Kritik abgeben. Das Santa Lucia hat sich eine solche jedoch redlich verdient. Ich habe vor über 10 Jahren das letzte Mal dort essen müssen. Gestern leider wieder. Für mich bleibt der Erfolg dieses Lokals schleierhaft. Andere Beizen, in denen man vorzüglich isst und trinkt gehen ein oder halten sich mit Mühe und Not über Wasser. Was macht das Santa Lucia aus? Die Lage, oder vielleicht die Lichterkette? Wer wird das je verstehen?

Good Service, very friendly staff, the food is good but not special, fair prices (for zurich) and it’s OK to go there with children.

Macht ja eigentlich auch nichts, denn ihre Lokale sind ziemlich gut. Finde ich zumindest.
Das Santa Lucia beim Limmatplatz kenne ich nur durch meine Freundin, da sie am Limmatplatz arbeitet und wir uns da mal zum Mittagessen trafen. Ja, was soll ich sagen, es ist halt eine Kette und irgendwie schmeckts da überall gleich. Was aber nicht schlecht sein muss, ganz und gar nicht! Mein Besuch im Santa Lucia war eigentlich rundum gut, das Essen, der Service, das Ambiente, alles hat gepasst. Ich kann wirklich nichts Schlechtes über das Lokal sagen.
Meine Lieblingspizza heisst übrigens «Michelangelo» und ist, haha, ziemlich gut bestückt. Drauf sind nämlich Tomaten, Mozzarella, Mascarpone, Parmaschinken, Rucola, Mozzarella-​Perlen und kleine Tomaten (Ja, i know, zweimal Tomaten und zweimal Mozzarella. aber einmal gehörts ja zur Sauce und de «Basis»). Sie ist zwar die teuerste, aber ihren Preis wert.

Das Santa Lucia ist eines meiner Lieblings Restaurants in Zürich. Man kann gemütlich draussen sitzen, die letzten Sonnenstrahlen geniessen und sich eine richtig gute Pizza reinziehen. Das Santa Lucia bietet eine pralle Karte mit Pasta und Pizza, ist meist voll (einen Platz lässt sich aber immer finden) und das Ambiente ist wirklich angenehm.
Am liebsten esse ich hier die «alla parmigiana» (Rucola, Parmaschinken, Parmesan), die ist frisch und nicht zu schwer. Aber Pizza ist eh eine Ansichtssache und jeder hat seine Lieblings, aber das Santa Lucia hat wahrscheinlich alle auf der Karte.

Viele schwärmen vom Santa Lucia als einer der besten Pizzarien der Stadt. hmmm… das ist ein schweres Kompliment, sind wir doch alle Pizza-​Feinschmecker-​Kritiker irgendwie oder?
Ich mag das Santa Lucia, weil es irgendwie so schön altbacken ist. irgendwie ehrlich, nicht schick, irgendwie authentisch. man sieht dass es das Restaurant schon lange gibt und es schon lange so funktioniert wie es auch heute noch ist.
die Pizza ist aber auf jeden Fall spitze und das ist ja was zählt oder?

Welche Ansprüche hat man eigentlich an eine Pizzeria?
Welche Pizzeria hebt sich wirklich noch von den anderen ab?
Was genau erwartet man von einer guten Pizza? Ist es ein leichter krosser Boden? Oder doch lieber der dicke Rand und eine ordentliche Ladung Teig? Ist eine «Pizzeria-​Kette» wie das Santa Lucia überall gleich? Bringt es deshalb auch automatisch Qualität und Service?
Ich weiss ehrlich gesagt nicht, was eine wirklich gute Pizza ist. Wie so oft liegt das wohl im Auge des Betrachters. Die Pizzen vom Lucia sind aber frisch, knusprig und gut. Der Parmaschinken mit Ruccola ist ein kleiner Traum, gut, die Kombination alleine überzeugt mich schon weitgehendst. Die Kellner sind nett und aufmerksam, das Ambiente angenehm und ja, ich bin noch kein einziges Mal hungrig aus der Pizzeria getapst, das ist doch schon mal was?
Ob ihr nun diese Pizza zu einer der Besten der Stadt kührt, ist euch überlassen. Ich wünsche auf jedenfall: buon appetito!

Mit jeweils einer anderen Pizzeria gleich an der nächsten Strassenecke (einerseits Il solito posto, andererseits Cucina) hat es das Santa Lucia an der Luisenstrasse alles andere als einfach. Aber — das muss man festhalten — es war vor allen anderen da: Das sieht man auch schon am Interieur, das sich traditionell italienisch präsentiert. Leider ist es aber schon etwas sichtbar altbacken, was mir nicht so gefällt. Alt und backen? Gutes Stichwort, denn der ganze Stolz des Lokals ist aber sowieso der Pizza-​Holzofen. Er soll 1965 bei der Eröffnung der erste überhaupt in der Schweiz gewesen sein. Nun denn, zum Glück schmeckt die Pizza nicht wie von 1965, sondern — wie in den anderen Santa Lucia Lokalen auch — frisch und authentisch italienisch.
Besonders gut: Die mit Tomaten, Mozzarella, Mascarpone, Parmaschinken, Rucola, Mozzarella-​Perlen und kleinen Tomaten belegte «Pizza Michelangelo».

Die Location ist sehr angenehm und zentral im niederdörfli gelegen. Die Einrichtung ist gemütlich mit gedämpften Licht!
Die Karte ist ausgiebig! Die Pizzen sind hervorragend! Vorallem Pizza Michelangelo! Der Wein ist ok und die Preise auch!
Abends ist es sehr voll und teilweise je nach Platz laut!
Die Bedienung war sehr unfreundlich. Vor allem als es um die Zahlung in Euro ging!
Also am besten in Franken zahlen! :-)
Ansonsten ist es dort sehr empfehlenswert!

Diese Pizzen werden noch ganz traditionell im Holzofen gebacken. Man kann sogar zusehen, wie sie sie zubereiten und reingeben :) (falls jemanden gaaaanz langweilig ist mit der Begleitung — ein heisser Tip: D
Die Bedienung war ein bisschen chaotisch und wir mussten zu lange auf die Karte und Getränke warten. Dafür war dann die Pizza umso schneller am Tisch.

5dl Merlot: CHF 17.00
Man kann auf jeden Fall einen schönen Abend dort verbringen…

Good food and nice atmosphere. Service could have been better and I don’t like it when the people at the next table are smoking. But that should change in a few month. As for most places it is strongly recommended to make a reservation.

Die Pizzen sind sehr gut und entsprechen den Zürcher Preisen.
Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend.
War schön dort zu essen ;o)
