Hospoda v Lucerně

The beef ribs is tasty so as the beef cheeks. The chicken wings is so juicy and I love it!!! But the waitress is not nice as the food here… haha

Went there for dinner with a friend, our first night in prague so why not. The tricky part was finding it, being hidden in a basement that has its entrance in those alleyways that connect roads and go through buildings.
When inside though, we were definitely pleaseantly surprised by the atmosphere. A lot of people, all talking, having fun and everyone drinking beer.
I had a potato pancake and a traditional steak and cream with sauce and their traditional bread while my friend had an also traditional steak with spinach. Both main dishes were really good, the beef was perfectly cooked and the sauces were amazing. The potato pancake on the other hand was really heavy and with a lot of oil so if you don’t specifically enjoy heavy meals I would recommend avoiding it.
The beer was very good, really nice Draft Pilsner. All in all, would definitely return just to try their burger selections!

Lucerna has almost a century-​long history and in addition to the pub which is being described here, consists of the music bar, cinema and café. Hospoda v Lucerne is popular among typical local pubs, although I never went there by my own decision. We were always attending it in a big group of friends and had a pretty good time anyway. But I wouldn’t go to this pub in a small company just to have a dinner or drink and chat. Firstly, the quality of food isn’t too good and meals taste average. The menu isn’t big and offers usual Czech dishes and burgers. Secondly, it gets too crowded in the evenings, especially on those approaching the weekend, and as a consequence, it’s very loud, smokey, sometimes smelly and looks a bit dirty. The prices are medium, and the service varies between less than average and ok.
