Wonderful service, magical atmosphere, food I still dream about. I celebrated my last birthday here while visiting Prague, and I imagine it will prove an impossible experience to top. We enjoyed the 11 course tasting with wine pairings and were continually delighted and surprised. I loved watching the chefs working in the kitchen and was so impressed by the quality of the service – everyone was attentive and not at all pretentious. My boyfriend and I treat dining out like a beloved hobby(we’re New Orleanians!), and this has to be one of our all-time favorite restaurant experiences. Absolutely worth the splurge if you find yourself in Prague.

I’ve eaten at about about 20 Michelin starred restaurants and this one certainly deserves a star. Superb service. We went for the wine pairing and it was perfect(all Czech wines). Prices are expensive for Prague but reasonable compared to other cities. The highlight was probably the trout, although the eel came close too.

Like Anthony Bourdain, my wife and I made it a point to dine at this gastronomic gem in the heart of Prague featuring new twists on classic Czech dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Surely, the best meal we had on our trip to Central Europe back in December 2015 and one of the best dining experiences we ever had, period!

What an amazing experience. Granted it’s my first Michelin star restaurant so yeah it was pretty freaking great. We made reservations via email prior to our arrival in Prague and they were more than happy to accommodate us. We scheduled it about two weeks in advance in order to secure a table and we were able to get a table for 5 without any trouble. They offer both a 10 course and a 14 course meal with pairings of both in house juices and delicious wines. Naturally the wines are pricier so be prepared to spend a little extra. The service was fabulous. They ensured that all glasses of water were filled promptly and before they even fully emptied. I selected the juice pairing with my 10 course and they had amazing creativity when it came to the creation of each juice. Some were made with radishes, cucumbers, and pears. They accented it with ginger and other spices. The food from this restaurant opened my eyes to the different and innovative ways that you can enjoy a meal. One thing that sticks out to me the most was the dessert. The chef prepared a whipped potato foam that tasted sweet and filling. They then went the extra mile and provided us with a second dessert of a aerated berry foam. Would definitely recommend if you would like to go for a unique experience that doesn’t slaughter you on the price compared to other Michelin reviews I have read.

Despite the French name of the restaurant, the food served here is actually modern Czech gastronomy. Overall, the food was very good but the service was even better, top-notch and what you would actually expect from an even more expensive restaurant. The setting here is perfect for a romantic/special evening dinner, with a bonus view into the brightly lit open kitchen area. Having been trying to eat as much good food in Prague as possible, my wife and I didn’t feel we had room to do the more comprehensive tasting menu so we did the abbreviated one instead. It was a 6 course tasting menu on paper, but ended up being an 11 course degustation with all of the added extras. Our 6 course tasting menu for the evening(as written by the restaurant): — lettuce, fruit — trebon catfish, kefir, poppy seeds, dill — pumpkin, Prague ham, whipped cream — pikeperch, kohlrabi, nasturtium, yeast — sumava mushrooms, lard, egg, caraway — blatacke zlato, romadur, rowanberries /cheese plate My favorite dish of the night had was probably one of the extras, however. It was essentially«shrimp chips» dotted with bits of sauce and greens/flowers, but they were the most amazing ones I’ve ever tasted! We paired our dinners with excellent Czech wines, most notably a Czech rosé that was mixed with Pinot Noir.

Perfect wine pairing. Absolutely awesome service. The place to eat! We had the 6 courses degustation experience. Plus: we were lucky enough to be sited without a reservation. The manager was kind enough to set everything for us.

The food was amazing, the wine was quite good, and most of the service was great. Food 5 stars, wine 4 stars, and the rude bald waiter we were lumbered with 1 star. At least he was present when required; at most, actively mean. It’s amazing how one rotten apple spoils the barrel.

This was a multi-course feast and an exceptional excursion into exquisitely prepared Czech food fit for a medieval prince. We did the«Degustation Boheme Bourgeoise» for a more intimate interpretation of the Czech palette. Each course was amazing, freshly prepared, and unique. Also, be sure and do the wine pairings if so inclined — I was very impressed with the local whites and did not realize there was such a unique and rich terroir in the Czech countryside(mostly Moravia). The pairings with each dish were masterful complements to the cuisine. The ambience is modern classy yet smart casual. The service was excellent — we were very well attended to throughout the experience with friendly hosts — best meal I have had in four trips to Prague.

An overdue review from June 22014(my birthday last year). Really unbelievable meal. The restaurant is in a «L» shape so the room feels like two and allows for an intimate dinner experience. There is an open kitchen so you can watch all the action. My friends and I enjoyed every moment of the tasting menu paired with local wines. Every dish came with extra touches like«horseradish snow» or edible flowers. My parents were in Prague in September and also had one of their best dinners here. The staff let my Dad flip through the historic cookbooks that inspire their recipes. A trip to Prague is not complete without walking across the Charles Bridge — as well as a meal at La Degustation.

Phenomenal — super clever modern takes on classic Czech dishes, a wine list that will blow your mind… mainly because of all the fantastic tasting Moravian wine they offer, great service, and great interior… just the whole fine dining package. Upscale without being pretentious. An absolute treat.

We’ve been to many Michelin restaurants and this ranks as truly the BEST! The wait staff was so nice and down to earth. We took our 16 and 12 year old children with is and I always judge on the way they treat the children. The kids enjoyed every bite as well. The food was outstanding and each plate was a work of art. We had the 6 course and 11 course — each were filling! I wish I had the 6 course which was enough food but loved everything on the 11 course menu and had a difficult time choosing between the two. I had the wine pairing and it was great to try the different wines mostly from this area. The kids had the juice pairing and each juice was amazing! Don’t look at the price tag… way expensive! But, totally worth the experience and price!!!

Excellent service, intense flavors. It was a great experience dining here. Price is high, but worth it. Enjoyed all dishes with except the desserts(pear with anis, etc). The other dish which we did not love was the trout on yolk and buttermilk, probably a bit sour. The beef tartare on crackers, the catfish on the vegetable broth, the baked onions with lard and tapioca pearls, the chicken horseradish and corn… all ABSOLUTELY fantastic, including the beef tongue. It’s worth checking this place.

With only a few days in Prague, I felt very lucky to get a reservation here. My boyfriend suggested it last minute and we managed to get a weekend reservation! When dining in a Michelin restaurant, why not go all out? We did the 12 course menu with wine pairings and I think we would both agree that it was a great choice. There were a few dishes that I didn’t love, but were interesting and flavorful nonetheless. The wines enhanced each dish and the sommelier was friendly and knowledgable. Service was excellent and we were lucky enough to get a table next to the kitchen. Watching the chef and his team was amazing. I’d definitely agree with other reviews that it was an unpretentious dining experience and a must while in Prague, despite the price. Also, prepare for the length. If you’re in it for the long haul(12 courses) expect that dinner will take nearly 4 hours. I’m definitely not complaining! Beautiful ambiance, friendly staff, delicious/beautiful/interesting/flavorful dishes. You won’t regret it.

This was a really special experience. To watch the kitchen work and to have a meal I can only describe as a work of art. We went with the 6 course meal and I think we had 3 dishes before we even got to the ones we ordered. It felt like every chef brought us out a dish at some point and everyone spoke amazing English. I can’t find much fault in the evening other than maybe I am not the hugest fan of food being served on a rock. It wasn’t every dish but more than one. Small complaint for an otherwise great date night.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to on the european continent — and each time it is consistent. It was my fourth time there. Chef Oldřich is creative and puts delicious platings in front of the guests. The service is attentive and pleasant, without being overbearing. Sometimes it is confusing who is the head waiter for the table, but that does not matter in the greater scheme of things. Sommelier Novotný tells you some stories about the wines that are impeccably matched to the dishes from the kitchen. I highly recommend getting the wine pairing with the«Dégustation du Chef». The amuse-bouches sent out will surprise you. The ambiance is modern. It isn’t stuffy and snooty. When the place is full, it may be a bit annoying when larger groups are there making noise. An additional note: some of the descriptions on the menu do not do justice to what actually is being served. Simple references like«Tomato Sauce and Mustard» will not describe what will be amazing your taste buds. The only downer that evening were the Potatoes in Ash, which were just too hot(temperature) to handle. The menu may be too pricey — but it sure pays off to save up for it. Tip: if you dine alone, try to reserve the table by the open kitchen. It serves for entertainment. If you are a doing a romantic dinner for two, and it is possible, get the table in the corner window where Hastalska and Rybna streets intersect. Every time — incredible.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. Definitely one of the top in Prague. The menu is a masterpiece and so are the wines that are paired with the individual courses. The service is of the top quality. This is not a place to which you would come for a far or regular dinner. It is a restaurant that you pick for special occasions when you want for the dinner to become a culinary experience. I absolutely adore this place and can highly recommend it. Just make sure that you reserve the table well in advance if you are planning to spend some special evening in here.

Definitely worthy of a Michelin star. Service and atmosphere was spot on excellent. They’d come and replace your napkin with a crisply folded one when you got up to use the restroom. They’d even replace every utensil between courses. It’s what you’d expect at a place like this. The place itself is modern and features an open kitchen so it is pretty cool with just the right amount of liveliness but not overwhelming noise. The food itself was good but I wasn’t blown away at every course. We did the 6-course with wine paring and left feeling full. The menu seems to change monthly if not seasonally. I think what was great was they really did try to take a modern spin on Czech cuisine and pair it with only Czech wine. It was an innovative menu no doubt. I think for the month of September, the highlights were the poultry offals and the beef tongue. The Czech fish was overpowered by the vegetable leaves that came with it. The dessert was okay not great. They did serve a lot of amuse bouches alongside the meal which was greatly appreciated — I counted at least 3 – 4 different ones and maybe 6 – 8 bites that were free! Overall, I think it’s definitely worth going to if you’re in Prague and will showcase Czech food in an innovative manner. Do I think it’s a fantastic value or 3-star Micheline? No. It’s a fantastic 1-star Michelin with a reasonable price(maybe good value depending what currency you’re converting from). I would come back again if I was in town.

This was our fancy pants dinner during our four day trip to Prague. Definitely make a reservation, can’t imagine it’s easy to walk in. We opted for the 6 course option including wine pairing for each course. Wine pairing definitely worth the extra money. All in all, from the ambiance, décor, food and service this was one of the best meals we’ve ever experienced. The staff was courteous, knowledgable and explained all the dishes and wine pairings very well.

Wow. Probably the best service in Praha. My boyfriend and I ordered the degustation du chef and by the end we were stuffed. Some dishes were great(foie gras, roe deer, sweetbreads) some were not as great(catfish, chicken). Oh I must add the amuse bouche(s) were fantastic). I wish the sweetbreads had come earlier on in the dinner and not last as I could not finish the dish by that point. One thing I don’t understand is why cook something with a nice crispy exterior and then pour a liquid over it tableside. Maybe to the side would be a better option. Did not order the wine pairing as I was a bit under the weather but still enjoyed the meal. For two, the total was $ 359 with tip, water and tea.

As a Michelin star fanatic living in Prague, I had to give this restaurant a try at some point. When you first enter the place, it’s elegant and gives off a different vibe from other Prague restaurants as well as other MIchelin places that I’ve been to. Something about the place makes it homey and not stuffy at all. I was seated right in front of the final food preparation area which was really cool because I got to see how the different chefs interacted with each other – the teamwork and the synchrony that they have in adding those final touches to the dishes is really spectacular. I opted for the eleven-course meal which is really quite a bit of food. I was feeling pretty stuffed around course 6/7, but when I ended up walking away from the restaurant, I actually ended up feeling pretty good. My full menu entailed: white asparagus with radishes, caviar on a egg/buttermilk batter with ham, mustard ice cream with tomato sauce,(shaved??) foie gras with wine jam and pistachio, Czech trout with almond and broccoli, various forms of celery root, potatos with crackling and kefir, pigeon cooked three different ways, smoked beef tongue, calf sweetbreads, and bread ice cream with plum jam and beer foam. I have to say that this was probably one of the most unique menus that I’ve ever tasted. I don’t think every single dish was delicious to the point that I would want to eat more, but I do think that they really achieve their goal of surprising you with what you’re eating. It was absolutely thought-provoking and sensory arousing. It is absolutely worth going to for the experience of these very interesting ingredients. The amuse-bouches were fantastic – definitely some of my favorites. A lot of fried chips with things sandwiched inside – steak tartare, some fried pork, etc. Simple and elegant. My favorites were the poached trout and the beef tongue(which is apparently their signature dish!) – it’s spiced with apples and apple purée which was a really great contrast and touch. The foie gras is worth mentioning because unlike all foie gras that I’ve ever seen, this one was basically shaved? It was so interesting. La Degustation really takes the cake for unique, artistic presentation. Every single dish was absolutely stunningly crafted. The service was fantastic. The waiter spoke excellent English and was very knowledgable about all the dishes. Everyone was efficient and unintrusive and just a pleasure to interact with. I also appreciated that they didn’t try scamming me into absurdly expensive water and actually offered tap water, that was really nice. tldr; a fantastic, expensive experience. But if you have the time and money, absolutely worth visiting for a very unique dining experience
