This place hands down is one of the best experiences at the River. The personal touches at this place(food and home) will make you never want to leave. It simply does not get any better than this.

This was my wife and I’s first experience staying at a B&B. I don’t know that we’ll seek out other B&B’s in the future, because there’s no chance that they would live up to the Captain Visger House. For starters, the house is adorable. Eclectic and fun furnishings throughout with lovely architecture and hardwood floors. We stayed in Ella which also has a thoroughly modern two-person jacuzzi tub. There are photos on the website, but they don’t do the space justice. Next is Sam, and Sam’s cooking. Sam is a wonderfully welcoming host, willing to chat and offer recommendations and directions. Our first morning at the house our breakfast included a whiskey-glazed baked apple, currant muffins, toast, roasted fingerling potatoes, and a fritatta containing goat cheese, bacon, kale, onions, and pumpkin. It was a massive breakfast that allowed us to skip lunch in favor of more time sightseeing. Most, if not all of the produce Sam uses comes from her own garden, and pretty much every ingredient seems to come from local sources. The freshness and commitment to the integrity of the food is second-to-none. After breakfast on our first day, we spent the next 24 hours anxiously awaiting what we’d get on the second day. She made a delicious french toast that is baked, stuffed with marscapone, and is an eggy/custardy concoction with perhaps more in common with bread pudding. This was paired with some(braised?) apples with currants and bacon. Sam offered to whip up some eggs for anyone who was still hungry, but we were all pretty stuffed. Also, if you’re someone who can’t function until you’ve had coffee, there’s a carafe full of french-pressed coffee laid out before breakfast so you can have a cup when you first wake up. On our drive home, I said to my wife that generally on a vacation, there’s the stuff you do, and then the place you stay, and usually the places we stay aren’t much of a draw, they’re somewhat utilitarian. On this trip, the place we stayed was as much of an attraction as the stuff we did. The house, the owner, and the breakfasts, were all highlights of our Thousand Islands trip on par with the boat tour and Boldt Castle.

The restaurant is The Kitchen. Great staff, committed owner, Sam. After her breakfasts got great reviews she decided to expand to lunch and dinner. It’s all farm to table(her family evidently has one of the farms), and she has interesting additions like craft sodas and sparkling waters. We went to Sunday brunch and it was excellent. We shared homemade cinnamon buns, and variously had French toast(more like a decadent bread pudding), eggs Benedict, hash(really shredded smoked brisket), pancakes(from scratch with nice crispy edges) and the unusual spicy curried hangover soup(originates in a Korean specialty, has noodles, sausage, poached egg, radish). Everything was delicious. I am giving five stars for the quality of the ingredients, the success of the recipes, and because it’s a flippin miracle a restaurant like this exists in ABay!

We randomly came here for brunch, which turned out to be the highlight of our long island park weekend trip. The house was just gorgeous, hostess Sam was very kind and welcoming. Sam’s french toast is definitely a must — try, so is the banana pancake. Will come back again!

Our group of 7 just enjoyed a most well-planned and finely-presented dinner that would hold up to the finest of standards. Six coursed paired with six selected beer brews that were set out like a symphony of food and drink. What a memorable experience.

Doesn’t get any better. The owner, Sam, tries to please you with your eating preferences. This B & B is very very well located one block from the city’s main intersection and across the street from the hospital. You can walk to everything. Clean sheets, comfortable bed, great peppermint soap. Fantastic breakfasts. We could not have been happier with this choice.
