Pretty good food, beers less than $ 5. They have sushi too. Great customer service. They are nice and food is fast. «Lunch» ends at 5pm and the dinners are too big for 1 person so its $ 15 or nothing. Tons of broccoli in my chicken and broccoli, not mushy or filled with onions and carrots like a lot of take out places.

Used to eat here/order take out all the time, that is until a roach crawled right across the table while we were eating. GROSS! From reading other reviews seems like they have a cleanliness problem!

This food is okay but the black girl needs to go! Her attitude will not make you come back. She is very rude not helpful and unprofessional. You all should hire a new front person. I can promise you she will get the right person one day and they will hand it to her. I will never come back to this place as long as she works and I will encourage you not to either. She seems like the type to even spit in your food if you make her mad.

Food is consistently great! They have a great flavor and quality to their dishes — and I’ve had tons of Chinese food coming from NYC. The guys are friendly, the girl(I think she’s spanish/mixed) She’s not friendly, i kinda secretly wish i wouldnt have to deal with her when i go there. Been there a bunch of times thinking it must be an off day for her, but each time I go she proves me right — her demeanor is just not friendly. But whatever, lots of people aren’t. … The main thing is, the restaurant is worth going to because you will get a great meal. It’s a small space with a maybe 8 – 10 tables, décor is alright. What’s important is that you can sit there knowing you’re in a clean place, getting a nice meal. Thanks HK Bistro!

Favorite Asian takeout. Tried the hot and sour soup, short ribs, crispy spicy beef… all well prepared with excellent flavor. Good portions, good service.too.

Great food, shitty service. The waitress is super unprofessional, she sits in a corner on her phone and talks loudly about inappropriate things with her coworkers, takes forever to get up to take your order and doesn’t refill water. I only go there for the food which is awesome every single time.

I’m not a person who leaves bad reviews, since I rather discuss the issue directly with management, but this time I had no choice. I felt like having a nice warm soup today, so I ordered a vegetable noodle soup and my husband went for his regular, General Tso Chicken for delivery. I have never had a soup from this place before, although my husband and I have eaten here a couple of times. The delivery arrived quickly, and we proceeded to open the bag. I got a bowl and started poring some broth, some veggies and some noodles and started eating. After a couple of sips, I noticed a tiny dead worm in one of the heart of palms. I stopped. In disbelief, I asked my husband to confirm that indeed it was a dead worm what I was seeing; and you can see by yourself that it was. I could not keep eating. I then thought that perhaps I could eat the broccoli and other vegetables, only to find a dead baby cockroach in the corn. And you know that if there are baby cockroaches is because there are big ones. At this point, I don’t want no soup, no veggies, no noodles, I don’t want no replacement, I don’t want anything. I’m even thinking I probably ate a worm without even noticing it. I decided to call the restaurant to let them know, and asked a refund for the soup. Mimi, who picked the phone and claimed to be the manager said that«they don’t do refunds; that she can send me another soup, give me store credit for only another soup(as opposed for the value of the soup) or a 20% discount in my next order. I replied«do you really think I’m going back to your restaurant for another meal?». Mimi keeps insisting that they do not do refunds. I said fine, we will do a credit next time(there will be no next time) and she hands up the phone as if nothing had happened. No apologies, no nothing. To all of you out there, beware of this place. I used to eat at this place but after this experience, I will no longer come back.

No more impressed with Hong Kong Bistro than with its predecessor. Fried items way over done, scallion pancakes totally a greasy mess, and sushi(nigiri & maki) didn’t seem fresh. I’ve tried, but when you struggle with basic items there’s little hope for improvement. The one saving grace it the friendly and helpful staff. It earns them an extra star — but not enough to keep me giving the place chances.

Updating after months of going there and enjoying the food. Last few times I’ve ordered from then, everything has been either burnt or rubbery. Life is too short for bad Chinese!

Looked nice inside, however it was dead. Only one customer on their way out. I walked in, a waiter walked right past me and didn’t say a word. I sat down not knowing if I was supposed to wait to be seated, and the waiter went to go help the other guys who were working on the fish tank. The couple leaving asked if they leave the dishes and the waitress who was sitting at a table playing on her phone just turned around and waived them away and told them to leave it. It was them that I got up and just left, and no one said anything. Plenty of good food around there, try something else instead of poor customer service

This place was great. The girl that takes the order is amazing. If you want to substitute a item. No problem just add a charge. Which is fine. Have done this for months. With no problem. Call today and the owner that does not care what customers say. Says he is going to fire the girl over 2 $. It’s really sad. She is making your business what it is. It is definitely not the owner. I have heard how rude he is, but said I’ll make my own opinion. Well yeah. He had the nerve to tell me he does not care what any customer says or how they are treated. He gave no reason why you can’t substitute. It is a shame that this is a owner and now someone that was his best associate is going to get fired cause she takes care of customers and 2 $. Will definitely take my business to a owner that cares about his associates and customers. Don’t care about your customers. Well funny thing is I have voice that can be heard. So I will be using it. Your a sad individual.

I love their sushi. Good price and very fresh. Also love the appetizer honey spareribs. These are different than the usual Chinese type ribs on menus.

This is my go to Chinese takeout place. Good flavor and speedy delivery. Usually order lo mein, general tsos, or sweet & sour chicken. The fried rice is also great. I prefer Kung Pao Chicken from other places because to me they over sauce it and put too many green onions, water chestnuts, etc… in it. Overall, really good local takeout spot.

Best Chinese in the area. My dad was a cook from HK. The food is good, I usually sat no msg and they accomodate and it doesn’t lack any flavor. It’s primarily American style mind you, but it’s good. Huge portions, you get tons of Shrimp with any shrimp order. Best thing on the menu is Singapore rice noodle, they do it right, just the right amount of kick. Only negative is staff can come off rude sometimes, short, esp on the phone, but that’s every Chinese run restaurant honestly… unless you go to PF Chang’s…

I ordered delivery from this place. The food was pretty tasty, especially the eggrolls. I even picked up an order of eggrolls on a separate occasion cause they’re that good. Only reason they didn’t get 4 stars is because the lady that took my order on the phone was rude both times. And their phone itself is horrible. On both occasions I had to call at least twice before someone answered the phone.

I actually used to seriously love this place, I’ve told many people that this place is the best Chinese food around the area but that completely changed when a mouse ran into my foot and back into the kitchen –_– went there a few months later, I told myself«hey maybe the place is clean and the mouse just so happened to come in the same day I did» nope. Went in there as soon as it opened and I saw one of the workers chasing after Mickey Mouse and his pals. I didn’t say a word, I just walked out

I took my mother out here on Mother’s Day of this year. I live right near by the Bradley Center, and this particular space used to be the restaurant ‘Golden Dragon.’ The staff at Golden Dragon were very friendly, but I did not enjoy the food. Hong Kong Bistro has become my new Chinese Food restaurant of choice. At first, I thought it was just the same management and they changed the exterior the restaurant as well as the interior, and the food therefore had not changed changed. I was completely wrong! The food was absolutely fabulous. This is hands-down one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever dined at. The menu options are extremely varied, so if you want oriental food, then this place is the ticket for you. I ordered General Tso Chicken, and my mother ordered Chicken Egg Foo Young, my sister joined us and she ordered steamed dumplings with pork fried rice. The General Tso Chicken tasted far superior to any other restaurant I’ve tried in the area. The deep fried battered portions of the chicken were extremely crispy flavorful, and the inside had a juicy and tender. I have been impressed by this place quite frankly, since I was a bit skeptical about whether this was just Golden Dragon, but I think they made a good decision by leaving the industry to let this place come in.

Solid standard Chinese place that also has delicious sushi! Really pleased to find a great spot near Shirlington. The food is always hot, appropriately crispy and delicious even when you get takeout. Theres plenty of space to sit down in the restaurant itself, but it’s fairly small so I tend to go with carryout. A go-to Chinese place where you know what you’re going to get each time, and you know it will be good!

My first visit to Hong Kong Bistro was a couple of weekends ago when I picked up food for a few friends and I. I am perpetually unimpressed by the Chinese food spots near Del Ray and my deviation from the norm was a delight. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The place is small but actually has nice tables for you if you want to dine there. Random note: you probably don’t want to order sushi from a Chinese restaurant… just saying. What did we eat? Spring rolls — I would skip on these for future visits. They didn’t have anything special going for them and were not crispy. Crab Rangoon — The filling was pretty good but I think the wonton shell got chewy from transport from the Bistro to my place or maybe sitting while all of the other food was cooked. Roast Pork Lo Mein — So good. This is lo mein done right. I would definitely ask them to use less oil but they have the right balance of meat, veggies, and soy sauce. General Tso’s Chicken — This was not spicy at all and it definitely could have used a kick of flavor. Peking duck — I had never seen this place and it’s not the roast ducks hanging in the window kind of place so it makes me skeptical how they prepare it. It wasn’t terrible but it’s not that juicy duck and crispy skin that I was looking for. This place was definitely one of the best Chinese takeout spots in Alexandria so I will be coming back!
