Snapper Ponchartrain was unfortunately buried in sauce and just a bit over cooked. I skipped the rice pilaf too. The onion rings were awesome(so much for the diet!).

We were visiting from out of town and decided to eat some seafood since we’re on the coast. We found George’s on Unilocal and decided to give them a try since the reviews seemed ok. Unfortunately, we made a bad choice. There was so much wrong that I’ll only highlight a couple of issues. For starters, the food was way overpriced. It’s mainly fried seafood and it’s not like you’re having it flown in fresh. It’s at your back door. Sadly, it was a step slightly above Long John Silvers. Reviewers mentioned the famous avocado salad was a must. It was a joke. Seriously, the salad was just regular shredded salad decorated with sliced avocado and drizzled with Italian dressing. Frankly, it reminded me of a larger version of a bad school cafeteria salad. Lastly, the service was bizarrely slooooow. I approached the manager about our 1-hour delay in getting our food and she was not apologetic at all. She rudely said they had 2 banquets going on so that’s why the food service was slow. No empathy, no apology, just attitude. Let me remind you, this was the«manager». Fellow Unilocalers, let me assure you that the restaurant was probably, at best, 35% full for a Saturday night dinner crowd at 7PM. It was pretty obvious said manager didn’t have a clue about customer service, staffing appropriately and Unilocal.Unfortunately for said manager, our server mentioned the owner, George, happened to be in so we asked to speak with him. George couldn’t have been more apologetic and genuinely sorry about the issues. He ended up deducting some of our entrees and giving us free deserts. That was a nice touch however the damage was done. If the food had been worth the cost I might have given more stars but this place was just a disaster.

This was my first time here. Had a pleasant late lunch; restaurant was very quiet so we were able to have a conversation. Bombay salad was tasty and fresh Fried shrimp were very good. Fried oysters were«well done» so were a bit chewy, but I enjoyed them. Tartar sauce seemed to be made in house and was really good. French fries were fresh and hot. Nice service from our waitress. Overall a nice experience and will be going back.

I was here yesterday for dinner. Food was ok-ish. Friendly waitstaff. But seems to be some drama about the parking area. Owner claims he has the right to claim parking spots in front of other businesses, saw a older lady carrying a huge cake across the parking lot because their parking signs were everywhere near by. Besides that, food was ok. Shrimp is easy to cook(sometimes lol). We like the prices for seafood. My family love this place though, and are regulars for some reason.

Im torn about having to give a two star rating on this because, the food was very good and robustly flavored(except for the veggies). The reason for the two stars is that our server was HORRIBLE. The people that came in after us got their food way before us. The other waitstaff was out and about and scanning the dining area every few minutes and attentive to customer needs. Ours unfortunately would disappear. We only saw her three times and we were her ONLY table! Also they will not allow you to substitute a side. Something I the PAYING customer feel should be my choice. Oh well… Good food/bad service. Maybe we will go back and sit in the other staff’s area next time. Update. It was September the 11 th 2015. We were there for our anniversary.

Good local hangout. Like the fish(especially blackened or mesquite grilled). Great friendly staff(our waitress Arlene was attentive). Very clean. Glad to see things have so greatly improved since our last visit — this is the George’s we enjoyed visiting in the past. Ps. Home made apple pie was delicious.

HORRIBLE. A friends son works in the kitchen at George’s Seafood Co so my husband and I went to show support, –big mistake. The food was nasty, and they claim to make the ‘best’ tartar sauce, but it was anything but. In fact it was the worse sauce I have ever eaten. The boy that works there eventually told us that they use all frozen fish and their snapper is actually Vietnam farm raised snapper!!! It should be a CRIME to write gulf snapper on the menu and serve imported farm raised crap. Very dishonest.

Excellent experience with the family. Quality of food and service was fantastic compared to the seafood chain. Plus we got some delicious, thin onion rings for free with check-in.Will definitely be going back soon!

Not the best place in town, food overcooked and the server forgot to bring my drink back. Had to call another server to refresh our drinks and get mine too. A little pricey on the plates.

Our son is a student at TAMUCC and we have tried many of the seafood restaurants in the area when visiting him and this is our favorite ! Huge portions, perfectly cooked, excellent service and clean quiet atmosphere. You will love the seafood sauce, never had anything like it, forget the tartar sauce like other places !

Not what we were expecting… The shrimp cocktail was two pieces of small shrimp on the rim of a giant goblet filled with a super sweet cocktail sauce and minuscule chunks of cut up shrimp. The shrimp bisque was very runny… not much substance. The seafood stuffed mushrooms were covered in a cheese sauce. But the service was great. I would suggest not getting anything we ordered if you go here.

We were looking for a nice seafood place here in Corpus since it can be hard to find and quite pricey in Austin. Glad we gave this place a try. The fried shrimp were amazing and came with french fries. I would have loved a couple of hush puppies though… The mesquite grilled snapper was also really really really good. We also split an avocado salad and it was huge and had a whole fresh avocado sliced on top. We came in an hour before closing and were the last patrons inside but the service didn’t falter one bit. Our waiter continued to be helpful and on top of things and the manager lady came over a couple of times to make sure we were happy with everything. We were too full of delicious fish to even attempt dessert but I bet they are as wonderful as everything else. If you are looking for real authentic fresh seafood in a nice atmosphere this is your place!

The best fresh seafood in Corpus Christi without a doubt. My family and I were in Corpus for a one week vacation. My enjoyment on the vacation is to eat at the finest restaurants in town. Each evening we would choose a place to eat dinner. We are at the coast so it only makes sense to eat«fresh» seafood. We ate at several of the restaurants located at the seawall area and were surprised that most of the fish was NOT fresh. One of the more popular places even specialized in fried fish. I found George’s on the urban spoon. It is a little way from the downtown area but well worth the drive.(15 minutes). You don’t have the ocean atmosphere but you will remember the food. If you want a fresh seafood meal that you will remember, make it George’s. They have two excellent Snapper dishes and the Sirloin dinner is top notch too.

Apparently George’s Seafood Company had a good reputation, then bad reputation and I must say have reclaimed good reputation. This was one of the best meals that I had in Corpus Christie. The bread served was so good and memorable-no other restaurant can compare when it comes to the bread. No disappointment in the food or service. An enjoyable meal in good atmosphere. Kind of misleading appearance when we drove up but turned out to be a hidden treasure. Can’t wait to visit again. Music was a little old school but it’s ok to go down Memory Lane every once in a while.

Good food. Had the shrimp Baja and cream brulee. High price. Service was good and quick. Inside ambience is better than it look from outside.

5 stars for the fried shrimp & oysters alone. This is what you come to Corpus Christi for, folks — FRESHSEAFOOD cooked well! I spoke with chef owner George Edwards who personally overseas the kitchen and spends his days filleting fish. No frozen pre-breaded here. Also had some of the grilled snapper which was equally outstanding. He’s taken a page from the old King’s Inn book with family style serving and a focus on fresh.

This restaurant is way overpriced for the food you get. The service we received was horrible, the waiter spoke very quietly and did not seem to know much at all. The food is not bad, but it is definitely not worth the price we paid. I paid over $ 70 for a meal for two with one appetizer and a shared salad. Not worth $ 24 a plate. I would’ve considered trying the place again, but the service we received made me think otherwise. If the restaurant dropped prices, hired and trained the servers better, maybe they would get some more business. As far as my opinion goes, thumbs down.

Great food and great service! Dined there with two very young children, the service was fast, the avocado salad was fresh, the fried shrimp and blackened drum were perfectly cooked. I gave 4 starts because there was one piece of the drum that tasted a bit too fishy, but the other pieces were great. We also loved the rice pilaf and fries. Our waitress was very helpful, too. Unfortunately, we did not save room for dessert, but will definitely try some next time as they sounded great!

Bypass this place if you don’t want to over pay for poor service and bad food. Maybe I ate here with my expectations too high. I had a memory of the place from my youth that did not stack up to reality. I was not impressed at all. The food was grossly over priced. It came out in a way that made me think that there is one little fry daddy in the kitchen and each small order is waiting for it’s turn to go in. To say that our food and that of our neighbors came out too slow would be an understatement. Their avocado salad came out looking like it had been made hours prior and was brown and wilted. Better shrimp can be found being made for a fraction of the cost at La Ribera on Morgan(or any number of local seafood places). The fried drum was ok but the rest of the meal and the experience was so bad that it could have been great and I wouldn’t have known. Bypass this place if you don’t want to over pay for poor service and bad food.
