I gave it five stars! Service was great! Restaurant was clean, open space, with the feel of home. Hubby and I shared the chicken fried steak just to try it out. Oh my gosh it was fantastic! I’m not gonna share next time, am getting my own plate. My brother got the philly cheese steak, and gotta say it was delicious. I know cause I tried his plate too… we are most likely to come to this location again.

Terrible. The meat loaf tastes like hospital food. Most of the food seems that they just buy at Sam’s and heat up. Vegetables are tasteless. The owner seems to be a grouchy fellow, but the employees are very nice and helpful. This restaurant seems to have somewhat of a following, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why. I go there occasionally only when I can’t go too far at lunch. I left today with half my food still on my plate. The food today was uneatable.

This is my first time dining at any Nolan’s. I was initially drawn to it because I was craving chicken fried steak and I noticed they specialized in that. Hubby got the Philly cheesesteak and planned to split my chicken fried steak with me. The portion size of the chicken fried steak was huge! That’s where my praise for the chicken fried steak ends. Ultimately it was very bland and flavorless. The frozen stuff at the grocery store is ten times better. It escapes me how this could be what Nolan’s is known and won awards for. Beans that came with the plate were also lacking flavor and forgettable. Thank goodness the chicken fried steak wasn’t all we ordered, otherwise we would’ve left hungry. What redeemed our experience was the DELICIOUS cheesesteak! The provolone was melted to perfection and the meat/cheese/peppers/onion/mushroom ratio was spot on. We will give Nolan’s another try in the future just because the service was great and I love having a place to grab a cheesesteak close to home.

Recently opened on Staples. A long standing restaurant on Airline and before that many other locations long since closed on SPID, Everhart and I think on Alameda too. Has the famous poboy which is pretty good, good brisket and sausage plates, excellent potato salad, the croutons and cheese spread is to die for. Lots of very good food. Beans are rather non eventful. Have had the chef salad and it is pre made and not too inspired. Probably don’t want to go for that. As a side note both my wife have commented that the pickles are extremely sour, I am not talking just pucker up sour, but clean the bottom of your boat sour. So if you are into that. The new digs on Staples are real nice and comfortable. The order system is, order at counter give your name and get your own drink, sit and wait for your food. This was the way it was on Airline but not what I remember at the older places. I would like to see full waiter service at the staples location that might make that experience better. As it is, the counter service does not recognize appetizer type items and take them out first. On more than one occasion, everything was just brought out at the same time. The TVs all around makes it seem like a sports bar type feel which I could do without. They are tuned most of the time on some sort event or show. I guess that is OK in some cases but tiresome of they have golf or whatever on. Personal preference I know.
