The flavors were not what I had expected. I was looking for a more traditional rice roll and this totally missed the mark. I ordered the Tao Rice Roll and the Beef Rice Roll. The Tao had a weird sauce and the beef was made with extremely low quality beef. We also got a pancake which wasn’t very good either. Being in such a large food court with tons of delicious food, I’d recommend going somewhere else.

I like this place because of how quick they are to make my orders. I like a warm light meal on my commute to work. But someone in front of me ordered lots of those tao rice balls like 10 and I have to go catch my train to work. Sometimes this is when first order, first serve is ridiculous. I ordered only one. Why not just do mine first since mine will be done quickly? Then do his 10 tao rice balls afterwards.

Got the Tao rice roll. It was delicious and not too shabby for $ 3.5. Expected it to have too much rice but only the very top portion was too much. The rest of the roll had decent amounts of filling. Id def recommend if you are looking for a snack in the area!

Just moved to Flushing and go to downtown many times. New World Mall has lots of choices but Tao Rice Rolls is so convenient and delicious. Very healthy. Price not cheap but okay because I can eat quite a lot. These few days went there for black soy milk and meatsoup. Very nice taste. Service is okay.

Ordered one Tao pancake and one Tao rice roll($ 3.50 each) to share with friends and was pleasantly surprised with the result. I honestly had no idea what was inside, but it turned out to be a filling — albeit slightly random — mix of ingredients. The pancake(more of a crêpe) had egg, scallions, imitation crab, lettuce, a hot dog?, crispy tempura something?, and possibly other things. The rice roll had some sort of meat with what tasted like a fried chicken crispy crust. As you can imagine, both were really interesting and unique, but I probably wouldn’t order them again. I stumbled upon this little booth while walking around the food court in the New World mall. The name of this place caught my attention because I love rice balls, so why not try a rice roll? I ordered the Tao Rice Roll, which was in my hands within 3 minutes. It was wrapped nicely and put into a little bag, which was very useful, due to the greasiness of the rice roll. Sure it was super greasy, but it was also super yummy and full of flavor. This place has very fast service and is inexpensive. I would definitely come back here if i were in this area and would recommend.

I’m a regular here and I Love their tao rice rolls and black soy milk(the black is sesame). The staff is very friendly and honest. They gave me a heads up that the black soy milk was warm and what’s left was the bottom filled with sesame.

Wanted a little bit more food after my noodle soup lunch so I opted for a rice roll. I love rice rolls for breakfast when I am in Taiwan, and these were just as tasty(although with some mainland China influence). Price is reasonable at $ 3.50, and the are fairly filling(it’s glutinous rice after all). A number of flavors and also a few other non-rice roll items. I enjoyed mine thoroughly and would recommend one for a snack or two for a meal(for those hungry diners/big-eaters like me).

really great flavor! Only downside is that sometimes the rolls are really oily and it makes the inside kind of soggy

Tao Rice Rolls is a stall in the New World Mall food court. I tried the«Tao Pancake»($ 3.50) which is their version of jian bing, which I’ve heard described as a «Chinese crêpe.» The one at Tao was sort of a underwhelming. The flavor of the contents(Lettuce, sauce, sliced hot dog, delicious crunchy bits of something) was really great, but the texture of the crêpe material was disproportionately eggy, to the point that it had the taste and texture of an omelette. All things considered, I probably wouldn’t recommend the Tao’s pancakes/jianbing, there are just too many other delicious options right nearby.

Needed a cheap but delicious and filling snack so I randomly stopped by Tao rice rolls. I had the signature Tao rice roll and man, it fulfilled and exceeded my expectations! For just $ 3.50 I got a delicious snack to hold off my hunger for a bit. Best $ 3.50 I ever spent in my life. Now whenever I need an on-the-go snack before work or something, I’ll definitely stop by Tao Rice Rolls. and you should too!

This is a small stand at New World Mall. Their main thing that they sell are rice rolls. The price is fairly cheap for what you get. It could be a snack or it could be breakfast or lunch, either way it fills you up. I usually get the beef rice roll or seafood rice roll or both! They’re extremely delicious and one rice roll is enough to fill me up. I would recommend this place if you need something quick to go.

Yummy stuff. Unfortunately they kept running out of the ingredients for my usual order(when I stopped by after work). But at least the people who work there are pretty nice. I do wish they would pack them a little tighter, so they don’t fall apart so easily when I’m eating one. The flavor is great and the dried pork adds a nice texture. They’re made with sweet rice, so just one of these rolls is filling enough to be a meal all by itself. My friend and I grabbed one each(plus boba tea and popcorn chicken from another shop) for brunch on the LIRR.

This is the review for their rice rolls. If you are from Taiwan, you got to go to Tao Rice Rolls. The usual rice rolls we can find are usually hard and chewy. This is one place I could find so far, that you can enjoy squeezing the rice while eating, so the ingredients stay inside. Not sure what’s the better way to explain the«squeezing», but if you are from Taiwan, you may know. They have different kinds of rice rolls, I especially love their Tao Rice Roll and Sweet Rice Roll. They make it fresh and you can see what they put in it so you know what you’re eating in. With the flavor, the texture, the fleshiness, and my memory that other places can’t get, I say the price is fair. Only complaint would be it’s a bit oily for me. But able to find my childhood snacks, I’m happy.

How is this place getting no love? They’ve merged Chinese style sticky rice casseroles into a burrito form. It’s revolutionary,(well in NYC standards because I’m sure this is being done at other places), but damn it’s so delicious, convenient, and fairly priced at $ 3.50 each. There’s 3 rolls: Meicai, tao, and seafood, but I can’t really remember what distinguishes the first two from eachother. Contents of each: Tao is the works — pork floss, fried cruller, tea egg, lettuce, japanese mayo. Meicai; I believe is the pork floss and an addition of sour preserved vegetables, or mushrooms, I can’t really remember as I almost never order it. Then there’s the Seafood one priced at $ 4. This is a fun one, there’s kani(imitation crab stick), pork floss, seaweed salad(favorite part of it), lettuce, and a good amount of japanese mayo. This is probably my favorite one, mainly because of the contrasting textures of the chewy rice shell to the stringy seaweed salad and the crunch of the lettuce. There’s complaints that they’re a little greasy. Ignore them, just eat it and enjoy it. I can’t eat too many since I’m on a low-carb diet, but I still do because it’s delicious, portable, mess-free, and stench free(ala good unoffensive subway eating). I also ordered their black soy milk once. I thought it was going to be iced, but unfortunately it was hot and it was also 75 out that day. very uncomfortable, but besides that I was really digging the flavor. Anyways I highly recommend this place, and if you’re at the New World Mall location, I urge you to order some skewers at the skewer spot down there to go with these things to help you fill up. Though these rice rolls seem to fill up a female completely(in my experience), or a guy ¾ of the way to fullness.

This was one of those places where as I was eating the whole time I am thinking what the hell is this? The food wasn’t bad and I think that if this stand was selling food out on the street it would be right at home. Instead it is located inside the New World Mall food court. Its the first stand you see when you get off of the escalator. I am accustomed to japanese style rice balls so I came here interested in seeing what a rice roll was. Definitely not like those rice balls. I even like the chinese style sticky rice rolls usually wrapped in a plastic bag to hold their shape containing a fried cruller, dried pork floss and preserved vegetables. This place serves a more jazzed up version. First of all I had trouble ordering even using numbers and pointing they were confused. They also had trouble explaining to me what the items were. I saw crêpe on the menu and was excited and ordered a sweet one but its not your average crêpe. The crêpe was a thin eggy like omelet and inside is the contents of their rice rolls. I had a strange look of bewilderment as she loaded the crêpe with rice, a sliced hot dog(not a sausage like described), scallions, bits and pieces of fried cruller, preserved veggies, dried pork floss and seaweed bits covered in a brown savory sauce. As the lady was preparing it she took down a bucket of sugar. The sweet element of this crêpe was the sugar. I stopped her in time because there was no way I wanted added sugar to it. Glad that I did. My regret and confusion at what I ordered turned to contentment. The crêpe was really good as it was in an unexpected way. It felt like a hearty breakfast with the crunchy cruller bits and the hot dog and scallion went well together with the crêpe. I may come back to get it again as sometimes I am craving this crêpe with the salty hot dogs and scallions. But this place is definitely not your typical sweet crêpe stand.

Had the MeiCai Rice Roll. It was pretty good. Wished it wasn’t so oily. It was sweet and crunchy.
