When I was working in Tanasbourne and living in Beaverton, I was often annoyed that I was able to find such good stir fried udon in Beaverton, but not anywhere near where I worked(so I couldn’t have it for lunch). One day I decided to try this place on a whim and discovered their spicy pork stir fried udon. It was exactly what I was missing! The sauce on it is somewhat similar to toppoki sauce, spicy, savory, and a little bit sweet. And the noodles are nice and thick. The non-spicy version is also quite good(and has more vegetables), but the spicy one is where it’s at.

This has been one of my lunch favorites, cheap and healthy chicken bowl along with other lunch specials. Staff is friendly. I wouldn’t say the experience is authentically Japanese but still good food. The Chicken Udon noodle bowl is also very delicious. Complimentary green tea also served on the side.

I visited this place a few years back when it first opened and it was ok then. I thought I’d give it a chance to season up a bit and being that I live only about a block away and wanted to try it again. Well it was not good at all, I ordered the chicken bowl and what I got was a frozen vegetable bowl with a few pieces of chicken. I didn’t ask for vegetables which I normally don’t mind, but FROZENVEGTABLES. NONONONO, Zen Terriyaki over at the Tanasbourne Safeway gives almost a pound of chicken and adds a little cabbage for your veggie. Change a dollar more and add more chicken and if your going to add veggies use fresh stuff.

Great little lunch location. Good food for the price. They are always guick and I find the food reliable. I do like the friendly staff as well. Drop by and try the ribs.

Good food QUALITY. Friendly, great prices! Atmosphere is better than most teriyaki places. Clean, Picturesque Food Presentations. I’d definitely come back.

This place does have a good lunch special, however it would be nice if they offered more meat and rice with their platters. However their noodle platters are plenty. This is a small shop and it gets a lot of business due to the surrounding businesses. Like others have mentioned their chicken teriyaki is kind of overcooked and not much is provided even at dinner time. Their salad dressing is kind of strange… as far as being white and a bit runny.

I always find this place to be a great place to stop for lunch. They are quick to get orders out for those of us who prefer to grab lunch & go. It gets quite busy for the lunch hour. During the summer they have outdoor seating which is nice. They also offer a variety of lunch specials.

Love their beef, but find their chicken kind of dry. A pretty decent portion for the price, I come here quite regularly for a quick lunch. We go on the off times so it isn’t too busy. I do hate they won’t make an exception to just cook the beef in yakisoba… I’ve asked for it, they won’t do it. :( Gyoza and miso is great, tasty salad but sometimes tastes a bit wilted; good dressing though. It’s weird when the staff walk outside to talk to people and leave us completely alone in their restaurant.

This place has good value for sure with loads of product. Wouldnt say the meat is the best but it sure fills the belly!

Found this little teriyaki place near my office. I ordered the chicken yakisoba. It was $ 7.50 and it was a fairly large portion. I got it to go so I could eat it at my desk. It wasn’t bad, but not great either. It had quite an over-powering orange flavor, which was kind of weird. Maybe this just isn’t the«go to» dish from Soba Teriyaki. I’ll try something else next time.

Hmmm… my experience was far different than most of the other reviewers. It was absolutely freezing in the restaurant, for starters, and it didn’t help that my food was cold as well. I thought the miso with lunch was a nice touch, and it was fairly tasty but lukewarm at best. The rice was as well — cold and frankly, underdone. The teriyaki sauce was alright, but clearly straight from a bottle, thin and runny. After lunch, I stopped into the restroom which was fairly tidy for the most part but the toilet very obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a long, long while. Which — just made me wonder what parts of the business I DON’T see and how clean they are. I know at very least the teriyaki and soy bottles could have used a wipedown. Anyway, I’m not coming back to find out.

I may have caught this on a bad day(it was end of the day and they seem to be a lunch place), but I was sort of disapointed. The food was okay, decent portion, okay Miso but nothing to make you want to go back again. It seems like others have good reviews on it but it looks to be at lunch. Everything was just«okay», there are much better alternatives closer near my house.

Went in here for the first time for lunch today(Tue). The place was packed, with people eating and people waiting around for takeout orders(?). The place is close to a business park, so I’m not surprised. I got the teriyaki+gyoza(comes with 4 fried gyozas) lunch special for $ 5.95 and am mostly happy with it. I’d go for a teriyaki lunch special($ 4.95) next time. Meat is tender and yummy. You can actually see the guy cooking it in the kitchen and it’s fresh. Teriyaki comes with a small slice of orange and a little bit of lettuce(and, yes, white rice). The place has a DIY green tea w/cups, and give you a punch card(buy 10 $ 5.95+ and get 1 free lunch special) too too. Friendly staff and free wifi too :) My only complaint is that the wait is soooooooooooooooo long. I guess I should be going after 1pm or so to avoid the crowd.

We have come here at least a handful of times during regular business hours to find the lights off, the door locked, no one inside. Closed. I hate writing negative things about small businesses, but I just have to. I can’t stand driving somewhere and finding out they are closed for no good reason, with no notice. Nothing on the front door to say, «Hey — we needed a family day,» or «I have a colonoscopy appointment» or whatever. It’s too late. We won’t be back. We are closer to other teriyaki places now anyway.

I tried this place after a good work out at the gym next door and I was not impressed. Actually, I was a bit saddened for the price I paid. I don’t expect much from these small teriyaki places but for $ 6 I expected the overall taste to be half way decent. I simply ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl to go. I’m thinking that To-Go also meant serve half as much. It came with miso… about 2 sips worth and it was way too salty. Once I got to my chicken bowl I was disappointed to see about one scoop of sticky rice… the frozen kind of peas and carrots, and some over cooked chicken. At any other teriyaki place you typically get an over abbundance of rice, chicken, and at least more variety on the veggies and usually more fresh ones at that. Frozen peas and carrots? Really? That’s all you got Soba? They lost my vote.

this place is like a Japanese diner — plastic chairs and no atmosphere, but great food. and reasonable. they had run out of shrimp for tempura :-(but the Yakisoba was excellent… just like i remember in Japan. well actually maybe better in a way, because street vendors in Japan used to make it with(yes i swear) slices of hot dog. this was made with strips of chicken, likely because many Americans would have a fit if they were served food that was *not* a hot dog but made *with* hot dogs. we only want a hot dog if we order one. :-)

Still the best teriyaki I’ve found. A fresh salad, some rice, some miso soup, tasty grilled meat and an order of gyoza on the side. Much better then cooking when its hot outside. Yummers!

I started eating here a few years ago when I got a job in the area. It was the only Asian place close-by, and it was always full of corporate lunch eaters during the day… but I can’t hold that against them. The place is super clean, and actually kind of cute inside. I almost always order the spicy ramen, which is very good despite the fact that they don’t make their own noodles. You just need to eat it within 15 minutes or it’s mush. The tempura is really good also. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is always friendly. I wish I could be more colorful with this review, but this place is just not colorful! It’s just what you would expect from a small Asian eatery, but the ramen is solid!

Hubby and I love this place! Dine in or take out, we usually order the beef ribs, chicken teriyaki, beef and gyoza. The meats come with rice, side salad, and a piece of orange, which completes the healthy meal. The owner is very nice, love what he does and it shows on the tasty food. Try the egg roll too! It is the best I’ve ever tried! Oh ya, the hot green tea is free and refillable! The location is a little tucked away, but you gotta find it and try it out. There are a few other places in Hillsboro/Beavertown that we sometimes go to since I don’t cook very much. But this is the only place that we can’t help but keep coming back for more! I admit it, it becomes an addiction…
