It was effin closed on a Thursday night. WTF? Don’t know what is going on but this bites. I can’t write much more about how pissed I am!

Closed on a Thursday at 8:30 pm with the open sign on. Really… Not cool. Wasted 15 minutes. Trying to find a parking spot and everything.

We’ve enjoyed this place ever since we started coming here. Good Food, Lots of TV screens everywhere, FREE shuffleboard, and they even have live music on certain nights. Nice selection of liquors and beer.

This place is closed. No sign on the door but it’s locked during normal business hours.

It’s a neighborhood dive bar, no more, no less. Mediocre service — I waited about 40 minutes for a hamburger. They have three shuffleboard tables if you’re into that kinda thing.

This is totally an old people’s bar. 3 nights a week is karaōke and 1 night is open mic. I’m listening to Frank Sinatra right now. Their drinks are over priced. No pitchers at all. It might be about 20 ppl here. There is no diversity here. I stay near by and will go to the specs from now on. The only good thing is the wings which are 50 cent on Fridays. Better to go to buffalo wild wings. Tamika friendliness is the only bright spot and you don’t see much of her.

This place is a blast on karaōke night! The bartenders are very friendly and make you feel like family. I definitely plan on checking it out for football games this coming fall.

Walked in and sat on one of the bar tables right in plain sight of the bar. There was one barkeep(female) and one waitress. Not many folks in the place. I waited patiently while I watched the Astros game. After about 7 minutes, I looked around, saw the waitress walk back to the bar. Try as I might I could catch her eye. Then, I noticed her thumb wrestling with an old dude at the bar. Really? Maybe that’s why you have so few patrons tonight. After about 14 minutes, I left.

Another really good steak night(Wednesday), $ 12 for a 15 ounce juicy ribeye, loaded baked potato and starter salad. It’s majority older crowd, but Mr. Karaōke has an awesome variety and selection, even El Scorcho — Weezer, which is a hard song to find. Not to mention $ 2 domestics and $ 3 you-call-its. Southern hospitality, big stage, dance floor, karaōke, steaks! Damn this is the spot!

Even though this place is located in the same shopping center that houses Mascalzone, I didn’t even know that this place existed until another Unilocaler checked in here for a Wednesday steak night. As soon as I read«steak night» I, of course, decided to check this place out because who couldn’t use another steak night in the Westchase area? This guy surely can! For $ 15 you get a steak(not sure how much steak though — will update), a baked potato and a salad. When I came in, it was around 7:45 pm and I had the last piece of steak in the house. Lucky me, right?! Well no, not really. They were out of salad(which is fine but if I pay for it, I want it — or give me $ 1 off or something). When the steak came out, it LOOKED good. However, the taste is a whole different story. First of all, they didn’t even give me a steak knife to eat this. They gave me a dinner knife to eat this with. Not happening! So I asked for a steak knife which they did(why couldn’t they have given me this in the first place?) Well, the steak was kind of hard to cut with the dinner knife, so I originally blamed it on the utensil. But nope! The steak WAS hard to cut even with a steak knife. Seriously one of the toughest steaks I ever had to cut and eat. I had to violently cut the steak to really cut it. And when I actually put it in my mouth? Meh. That’s right. MEH! If you’re craving steak and live in the area, I would highly recommend that you wait another night and go Three Sheets instead. I also came here solo, so I sat at the bar. Let’s just say that it took a good while before any of the two bartenders actually gave me any kind of attention asking me what I wanted to drink or what I wanted to eat. Neither offered me a menu. Neither acknowledged me. One kept chatting up a guy who didn’t order anything. And the other one kept taking orders from people who came to order drinks. I think it was at least a good 10 minutes before someone actually said something to me. And it’s not like they didn’t see me either because I was sitting right by the cash register! Let’s just say that had I not wanted to try their steak, I would have got up and left. Thinking back, that’s exactly what I should have done. As for beer, they’re featuring beers from Alaskan brewing company. I wanted Blue Moon, they didn’t have it. But the replacement, Alaskan Amber, was actually pretty good so no complaints there. Wednesday night is also karaōke night(well, at least they had people singing when I was there) so that’s going to be your entertainment for the night. I hate to have to give such a bad review to this place because a part of me wants to come back to try their burgers which sound amazing on the menu. But another part of me doesn’t really want to go back due to the lack of service and the underwhelming steak night experience. But we’ll see. Maybe this place can redeem itself the next time I come around.

Don’t waste your time, it was the WORST experience, we ordered steaks and within 20 minutes we got our salad and drinks. Within an hour they forgot about us, not only they some how ran out of steaks and forgot about us. We left starving hungry and highly irrated. The bathrooms reek, it’s filthy, I would not recommend coming here at all. Never EVER coming back

Amazing food!!! Stopped by here a few weeks ago on a whim, just to get out of the house and grab some food. I like to try new places often, and my fiancé and I found this place on Unilocal. The bartender was awesome! Loved the atmosphere, looks great inside. Sort of a hidden gem. If you aren’t looking for it, you won’t notice it. 5 star service, food, atmosphere, price, and location. Plan on coming tonight for wings(They’re HUGE, delicious, and cheap!)

Went in after lunch on a Sunday, the place had just a few people at the bar and only one woman working. The service could have been a lot better. Questions about the menu seemed to confuse the waitress. I had to specifically ask for a refill on a soda and with how little was going on it felt like we where being ignored. Things picked up when the food arrived. Standard bar far but really well done. The Elk burger was very good and the fried cod was JUST what my wife was looking for both served with kettle chips though we ordered some fries on the side. Service was a 2 Food was a 4 Let’s call it a 3 average. We will probably give it a second try to see if things go smoother.

Simply and awesome hang out with great food and great beer. The bartenders are awesome and have great recommendations. The wings taste amazing and are humongous! The burgers are out of this world. They bread they use is not any typical bun you would find at a bar. The sweet potato fries are a must upgrade as they are the best I’ve ever had… and I love me some sweet potatos. To be a 5 star I would want a few more Alaskan themes than just Alaskan beer on tap and a couple heads on the wall. A few more food choices and décor would make it an easy 5.

This is one of those wonderful«Hole in the Walls» that you hope you run into but never seem to find it until you aren’t looking for it. In a rather nondescript strip center(albeit, a beautiful and full of nice«classy» restaurants, strip center) is Wild Alaska Tavern-a tavern that pours a stiff drink at a reasonable price with fantastic live music on Saturday nights. Also good to note is that Saturday is «All-You-Can-Eat» catfish which pairs nicely with a cold Alaskan brew and some free, live music. I no longer live in Houston(6+ years removed) but if I still did, this would be a place a would frequent anytime I was on the West side of town.

Not gonna lie, place looked a little strange on the outside. We were pleasantly surprised! We just moved to the area two months ago and we have been on the hunt for a good place with drinks and food. Since we dont really like chains this task is very difficult. I must say, you have to go! The burgers were so good. And they have fresh cut fries too! They have drink specials almost every night of the week.

I came here once for lunch. It feels like a typical sports bar. I got no feelings of nostalgia for the time I spent in Alaska based on the wooden bar or anything else in the place. Maybe if they had something other than an Elk burger I would have. Like some Halibut Cheeks maybe? Or some hot buttered rum? That said, everything was good, just not great. I had the Elk burger just as many do and it was yummy. It was served with potato chips. I thought they were going to be fresh, but they tasted like something you’d get from a bag. I also had fried pickles. They were fine. If I was on the area then maybe I’d stop by again.

I came out to see my friend perform. The bar is cool, but I didn’t really get the Alaska feel of it. Wednesday night is open mic – which is interesting. The bartender was fairly nice – she seemed more tired than attending. The food on the other hand wasn’t that great – it was just ok. The fries didn’t have any salt or seasoning on it. It was just bland and the sauces that came with(ranch and honey mustard) were watered down. A bit gross if you ask me. They do serve a meal, but it doesn’t come with a drink which I didn’t understand. I got the cranberry juice which was an extra $ 2. It was an experience.

Great burgers, cold beer and the friendliest staff you could ask for. Oh, $ 2 draft til 7pm. Karaōke Thursday and Friday. Large dance floor. Live bands on Saturday. What’s not to like? New owners working hard– stop by and support them.
