Nicks never disappoints. We go here several times a month and like to sit at the bar. I love the Bistro plate and always add a side of mashed potatoes. The blackened fish sandwich is awesome. You cannot leave without the Butter cake… Amazing!!!

Updated review… Waste of money!!! Almost inedible!!! I went back to Nicks with my father because it’s known for its consistency. We BOTH left Totally Disappointed!!! I asked the bartender for a recommendation for a salad. I went with it & wished I hadn’t!!! Avoid the Sesame Chicken Salad!!! I literally spit out my First bite! I thought I had a giant piece of slimy chicken fat in my mouth! I looked at it & discovered it was a mushroom… Normally I love mushrooms… These have the worst consistency for this dish! It feels like your gagging on fatty slime! The Soba Noodles were a complete overkill & detracted from even any taste to this salad. This was a salad I can see getting at a take out Chinese place. My father had the French dip which was just average(it was good but nothing special) and we split that, I tried to give him some of my salad but after tasting it he said NO. I don’t know why this place has decided to not pick up their game, they used to be so great when they first opened & now because of all the old Unilocal reviews it has a good rating. Nicks is AVERAGE at best!

I went there last Sunday and I was satisfied. The food tasted great. When we walked in, due to the high number of reservations we had an hour wait but Scott the manager helped us get seated in the bar area while we waited for our table. Scott was very helpful and friendly. The staff at the bar area were also very polite and friendly. I will say that I am very picky(or my taste buds are) but this place kept me happy and I did eat everything on my plate. P. S. the margaritas were really good(some good tequila).

Have only been to Nicks for brunch a hand full of times. However, after my last experience with Nicks, I am planning on coming back for more. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint! The burrito was so soft and flavorful as well as being a good size for one. The only thing I was sad about is that I could not finish it all. I recommend this place for all meals(breakfast, lunch and dinner). Give the breakfast burrito a shot it is deelllliiishhh!

Visited this spot on valentine’s day. We had a 10am reservation and were immediately seated when we arrived. We ended up seated right in front of their kitchen, with a see through glass view of the chefs working vigorously to get their DELICIOUS dishes out in a timely fashion. Our waitress provided A1 customer service, along with the manager who stopped by to check on us as well. Food came out speedy and was above and beyond my expectations. If your looking for an above average breakfast to impress your better half. This is the go to spot in the LBC… Absolutely loved it!!!

Ashley, our hostess was great. We did not make a reservation & she was very precise about the wait. But she also kept us apprised w updates. Very personable. The food was excellent. Excellent. Their roasted brussell sprouts were out of this world. Both of us were very happy with our meals. Worth the wait. Next time I will definitely make a reservation a week in advance.

I had such a great experience at Nicks! We usually come here about once a month but today the customer service was so great! Ashely, the hostess, was so great about accommodating us and our waitress, Crystal, was great as well! To top it off, Scott, I’m assuming the manager, persistently came by to give us great recommendations and ensure we were pleased! The food was delicious! I got an iced coffee drink at the end that was amazing! Thank you Nicks! We already have our next reservation!

Two words, 5 stars… butter cake. I do agree with other people though that I felt rushed out. Even on multiple times I’ve come here.

Any Nick’s restaurant is a friend of mine! I’ve only been here to this location for lunch. Once during the week and once on the weekend. Sat at the large U-bar and people watched the restaurant and the passing pedestrians on 2nd. Amazingly friendly service, too. What I loved: Kale couscous salad Asian soba noodle chicken salad Jalapeño margarita! What my boyfriend loved: The baked potato Enjoy!

Myself and my coworkers came here to top off our ISSE2016 tradeshow. We worked hard to make sure all of our exhibitors were happy and we decided to celebrate. This place was packed, even for a Monday night, which meant the food must be great and indeed it was! From the delicious drinks in which a few of my coworkers had the Salty Pear and opted for the(3) Black and Blue Mojito(with an extra shot because it just wasn’t strong enough) to the delicious appetizer of warm spinach and artichoke dip with warm tortilla chips. I ordered the braised short ribs which were so good, I would have licked the plate had I been at home. Oh and just in case were were not full enough, we decide to split a piece of decadent warm butter cake. Let me just say that I could fit my jeans comfortably when I arrived, but when we left, not so much. Sad but true. So did I enjoy myself? Absolutely. Between the fabulous company I was with along with the great service, it was definitely a WIN!

We have only been here for breakfast, but each time we go to Nick’s it is pretty much amazing. The service is alway first rate, and it is a classy restaurant in a good location. Their rent must be stupidly expensive, but their prices are still reasonable. The breakfast burrito is pretty good, but everything else we have tried has been just great. They do very good pancakes, the eggs Benedict is fantastic, and their bloody Mary’s and coffee drinks are awesome. But the chicken and waffles are to die for, and are the best that I have tried anywhere. We are going to have to try this place for lunch or dinner sometime, but parking on 2nd street can be a bit rough in the afternoon and evening.

Pretty darn good! Came here for brunch with my girlfriend. They were pretty packed. A: Cranlinis? — it’s cranberry and champagne, yumz! A: Blackfish Sandwich — loved the chunky pieces of fish, I like the sauce, everything was made fresh! A: Service — everyone was very attentive and they really try to accommodate our needs, I really appreciate the effort. Will be back for their dinner menu :)

A must visit in Belmont Shores. Nice restaurant with modern vibe. Service, good. Food, excellent. Tip: make reservations so you don’t have to wait an hour because it, seemingly, is always packed.

Nick’s is an intimate venue that’s good for a date. It’s dark enough to create an atmosphere of flirtation and it’s quiet enough to have a great conversation. We started off with the tuna tartare, which I thought was rather nice. There is a fair amount of fish and avocado, and when we ran out of wonton chips, we were promptly offered more. I had the pan seared Chilean sea bass. The fish itself was nothing to write home about, but I thoroughly enjoyed the garlicky sauteed spinach. It also came with a tremendous amount of mashed potatoes. I ate them all. Haha. We were, unfortunately, too full to order any kind of dessert, but many of the items were appealing.

BREAKFASTFORCHAMPS After a 6 mile training session the hAngry level is STRONG. To get a table there is usually a wait, to sit in the bar area(where there are TVs) it’s seat yourself whenever there are seats available. For those waiting in line, consider this option. The staff was super friendly and attentive to their customers. The people of Long Beach are super chill and laid back. Infamously known in the area, I met«The-Oatmeal-Lady» of 2nd street whom has claimed this place had the best oatmeal. Good to know because I am a huge sucker for good oatmeal. The food here is quality and worth every bite. BERRYMOJITO($ 12) — A pricey mojito but one of the best mojitos I’ve probably had. It was muddled to perfection and tasted so berry tasty. SIDEOFBACON($ 3) — smoked, thick, juicy slices of bacon. Really good flavor and not oily. I love when bacon is bacon but on another level of bacon. CREMEBRULEEOATMEAL($ 8) — steal cut oatmeal served in an espresso cup topped with bananas and berries and«brulee-d» up brown sugar. Never had anything like it and fell in love with it. I was enjoying every bite like there was no tomorrow. It’s the 2nd best oatmeal I’ve ever had in my life.(For those who are inquiring of my best oatmeal, its in San Francisco only served Sunday mornings at Ironside that I would have before heading to a SF Giants games — unfortunately that place closed but that oatmeal will forever be my #1). JABAAPPROVED. Until the next review…

Walked in for a business lunch at noon on a friday. My friend who lives in LB recommended Nicks. After the reviews, I was super excited. But then… We walked in and they said 25 minutes so we were about to leave but then miraculously they had a table open up. They just needed a couple minutes. Yay we thought. They must have started a new check in process as they had to ask name, first and last and phone number? We waited outside and they got us. Then asked for name, phone and email again. Wow. It’s super noisy in this restaurant so not the best for business. We had 3 in our party. 2 of us got the ahi sandwich($ 17) and one got the veggie burger($ 14). I was surprised not to find an ahi salad and when I asked, the server said they used to have one but no longer. It took 35 minutes to get the food. We had to keep time cause we were short on it as we had another appt. I love rare steaks and seared ahi. This ahi patty was so thick and raw. It was like eating a big chunk of raw tuna that wasn’t seasoned at all. I got the salad side and one of us got the fries. The fries were much better. Server was slow to fill our waters and never came to ask how the food was. Really wanted to like this place. My friend likes it. Probably better for social dining and night scene. I will give it another try and gave them 3 stars cause they could have just been having a bad day.

I think this is my new favorite restaurant/bar on 2nd street in the Belmont Shore area. The menu is fantastic and the prices are very good. I had the pleasure of trying there seafood enchiladas and they were very good and cooked to perfection. They have an extensive bar selection and is a great place to meet for drinks during the week right after work. Definitely come check out Nicks. You will be glad that you did and will thank me later. Enjoy.

Good, classic American fare. The short story– My favorites about this place were the entrees(5 stars!!) and not so crazy about the appetizers and sides. Good beverage selection though! With regards to appetizers and sides, here’s what we got: 1. Truffle Mac and cheese 6 $ was kinda one dimensional. Whenever someone hears truffle you kinda drool thinking you’re getting some kinda superhuman Mac and cheese, but really all I tasted was cheese. Maybe a pinch more salt would have brought out the flavor more. 2. Asparagus fries: good, but you literally only get like 7 or 8 of them for 11 $. Not good enough for that price. Pass. And now for the entrees, we went with what the waitress recommended: 1. Chilean sea bass– yes yes yes. I thought they were just promoting this because of the pricey cost, but this slab of fish was like butter. I love when restaurants serve a high quality piece of fish and don’t do too much with it– butter, salt, lemon and cook it to perfection. Comes with veggies and a side of delicious garlicky mashed potatoes. 2. Prime rib dip. Now a lot of places that serve a dip emphasize their au jus, but nicks strength about their dip is the meat. Prime rib served medium rare, I’ve never had a beef dip like that and it just took it to a whole new level for me. Ordered with Brussel sprouts that had both a crispy outside and softer inside– perfect complement! Great outdoor seating and calm but swanky ambiance, readily available for Reservations; really kind and attentive service(we were helped and checked on by multiple people) we were really happy with our decision to check this place out. Maybe with a different decision on apps and sides I’d give it a 5!

I came back to Nick’s the other night after not visiting for a long time. My experience made me regret not coming back sooner! I was walking around Belmont Shore on my own after a rough day of work and realized that I deserved to treat myself, hence taking myself to Nick’s! I think Nick’s is the classiest restaurant on 2nd St — beautiful restaurant, great ambiance, and exceptional service. I got the fried chicken sandwich with warm potato salad — both of which were fantastic. The fried chicken is an extremely juicy and crispy fried chicken breast with just the perfect amount of seasoning and breading. The sandwich also consists of a slice of cheese, arugula, tomato, and very tangy and flavorful slaw. All of this goodness is served on the tastiest pretzel bun I have ever had. I’m typically not a fan of pretzel buns, but this one won me over. I am still thinking about that bun. MMMM. The warm potato salad was absolutely delicious — very different from the typical potato salad. It consists of green beans, corn, warm potatoes, and BACON — so good. It had the perfect level of tang and creaminess — surprisingly not heavy at all. I was very happy with my experience at Nick’s the other day. There is usually a really long wait, which is why I don’t come here often. But when I was going out on my own on an early Monday dinner, there was no wait at all. Absolutely delicious meal — I can’t wait to come back!
