A friend and I had 2 hours to kill before our flight, so we popped into this place for a drink and a snack. The service was suuuuper slow, but the waitress was nice. They have a decent bourbon selection, and the pour was generous. I would stop here again if I were banished to this wing of the Memphis airport!

WTF! Want to meet some people who really don’t care about their jobs? Just put out a «We’re Closed» sign. My God. To the management: There ARE people in Memphis that want jobs. Clean house and start over.

Surprised by all the bad reviews. I had a great experience! Granted, it was 6:45 a.m. and empty. I ordered an omelette to-go and it was delicious. I love the décor featuring Memphis musicians and records with some of Sun Studios’ top hits. The 60’s-styled tables add an awesome accent to the experience. The lighting is also awesome. You feel like you’re at a mini concert. They even have a stage where I imagine people can watch local entertainment. I would definitely come back! However, I can’t vouch for what it’s like, when the restaurant is packed.

I ate here due to a layover. I order the cheeseburger sliders and added bacon extra. I received 3 sliders with mini pickles on top of each. The mini buns were hard. There was some type of sauce on the side which I needed for flavor. I also order a margarita on the rocks which was delicious. The 2nd margarita was made by a different bar maid and I asked her can she send this back, I do not want it. She asked, what did I do wrong? Maybe I shouldn’t put splash of orange juice. So she retrieves my cocktail and attempt to make it again it wa better but no alcohol. Sheesh, let me finish this food and leave.

Monday afternoon lunch at the airport, I figured let’s see what Sun studios food had. I ordered the fried chicken salad. It was pretty basic salad. Fried chicken was OKAY, didn’t seem that hot. Ranch was a little runny. Bar area had outlets for charging, decent bo go wireless signal. Clean and friendly staff

Had the burger sliders with bacon. The meat was about the size of a silver dollar and the bread fell apart and tasted like they just took it out of the microwave after being frozen, very dry. The beer is cold and delicious. Stop in for a drink, but bypass the sliders. You can get better in the frozen section of the supermarket.

Run, do not walk, in the opposite direction. In a failed attempt to avoid crappy fast food during my layover, I paid $ 18 for crappy slow food. Freezer-burned salmon, dried-out salad, and broccoli steamed to the point of transparency. Even my table water tasted bad– which must explain the liter of bottled water on my table I was prompted to purchase«to take on the plane.» WTF, Memphis?!? Ended up coughing up another $ 10+ at the BBQ in the food court. Boo.

This place is about average for an airport restaurant. Bread a bit hard and cold from storage(focaccia). Ingredients for the slaw are soft because of the same. The upside is a diverse menu(for the Memphis airport) and smiling happy service. Pricier than other options in the food court but a nicer dining experience overall. :)

You’d think for being in an airport their service would be quick.. . nope. Food was decent, though.

Typical airport food. It was nothing fancy but very much edible considering it was an airport. I ordered the Santa Fe Salad and it was tasty. The service at the bar was very good.

Had breakfast here during my layover. My only complaint is that the wait staff mucked up my order a bit. I ordered the fruit instead of potatoes and I got potatoes… Oh well. I didn’t want to say anything, but the place was hardly busy enough to make a mistake. Other than missing my fruit, the eggs were okay and I enjoyed my toast. The place is a bit pricey(but everything is pricey at the airport). Definitely has a lot of potential. Each area of the restaurant had it’s own theme — There wasn’t anyone sitting in the«sound booth» room, but then again I guess the put the«bad» customers there.

Bbq pork sandwich was ok. They skimp on the slaw and sauce so ask for it when you order. The meat itself was good. It was tasty and tender. The bun was really pretty but it tasted a little stale. I ended up just eating a few bites of the bread and devouring the meat on its own. This place wasn’t bad but I think since it’s a Memphis airport, there will be better bbq options out there.

This was traditional airport pub food, BUT… they get an extra star for the amount of attention to the décor… it was incredible. Having been to Sun earlier that day, I am sure I was a little more in the mood than most to be impressed by a Sun themed airport diner, but so what! Ok, so the staff leaves you wanting a whole lot more. I mean, the first thing someone said to me was, «Scuse… SCUSE» and she was the hostess. Apparently, I was in her way to seat me and my family, and that was the best way she could tell me to move. Ok. But, after some nachos, 2 Heinekens and a reasonable bill, I chalked up the hostess to local«charm».

I only got to walk in Memphis for 45 minutes, but I had enough time to grab a bloody Mary at Sun Studios. I wish I had time to eat as the reviews of this place are all over the map. My bartender had the most adorable southern accent and polite charm. When I ordered my bloody, he asked if I wanted it extra spicy. I’m definitely a when in Rome kind of person so I went for it. Best decision ever. This was the perfect blend of extra spicy, mix and vodka. There were large olives in the glass too, extra style points there. I only wish I had more time to have another.

I was starving after traveling all day and decided to try the Sun Studio Café during a lay over. I should of kept on walking. The menu was nothing great – a very short and simple version of a ITGFriday’s. Fridays is much better and that is not saying much. I the salad was mediocre at best – you only have 2 choices for dressing and there was no avocado in my chicken and avocado salad. Very disappointing. If you are looking for a bite look somewhere else.

Just like everyone else, I had a quick layover between flights and grabbed a bite at Sun Studio Café. The reviews were all over the place and none of them were really about the dinner menu, so I figured I would set the record straight. Menu was simple, but confusing because they try to theme everything with music-related titles as opposed to saying what it is. I would say that the food is slightly-less-than in line with what I would expect from airport food… I have to imagine that there is better at the Memphis Airport. Pulled pork sandwich was definitely reheated and the roll was stale. They only have 2 bad dressings for salads. Fries were warm and some were cold. Service was less than ideal. My advice — skip it.

I had some time to kill between flights and didn’t want to stand in the ridiculousley long Starbucks line. While scouting out places to eat I came across Sun Studio and decided to eat there. The décor is nice with a lot of memorabilia. I offered the Western Omelet with bacon, in place of ham, and coffee. The coffee came in a glass mug, that has to be to make up for its bad taste. The omelet came with potato wedges and sourdough bread. The omelet was flat as it had been cooked on a grill; to make matters worse there was a slice of cheese laying on top or it, without enough heat to melt it. The bread was cold so the butter couldn’t melt on it. The coffee was served without a spoon and a refill was offered only after I paid the bill. For breakfast stop some place else.

I had a couple of hours to spare in between flights so I came here for a bite to eat. I started with the southwest chicken salad which was very good and a big portion. The dressing tasted almost like salsa and definitely gave the salad a great flavor. However, I ordered the salad because I was craving avocado but they were skimpy on the amount of avocado they put in the salad. As a second attempt to satisfy the avocado craving, I ordered the nachos with a side of guacamole. I will definitely say that if you eat here, skip the nachos. It was basically like they melted shredded cheese on Tostitos rounds, and they didn’t melt it evenly. Basically they were pretty boring and not well done, and the guacamole was only mediocre.(Luckily I had nachos with guacamole the next day and that finally satisfied my craving for avocado!) My friend got the chicken with brie sandwich and said that was good. We also got the apple pie and we were trying so hard not to overindulge but we were unsuccessful and ate pretty much the whole thing. The apples were so warm and the crumb topping was so delicious. Definitely worth the calories and we justified it by telling ourselves«apples are healthy, right?!» If the place is fairly empty, then you can be in and out of here within a half hour because the service is really good and the food comes out quickly. However, once it becomes crowded, I would only recommend eating here if you have at least an hour to spare(or 45 minutes if you eat very quickly) because the service is of course slower and it takes a lot longer for the food to come out, even if the food is simple to make. When I first ordered my salad, it came out in about 5 minutes, but the nachos I got when it was crowded took about 20 minutes and the apple pie took about 40 mins.

The Birthplace of Rock N’ Roll. Got a layover in Memphis International Airport? This is the place you want to be to pass your time. Lots of Elvis memorabilia, instruments on the wall, classic records showcased, hear the sounds of hip-hop, jazz and more from the stage. Pretty cool place to have in an airport! Bartenders are nice, and offer great prices on beers with Free shots!
