We were happy to learn that this is the same restaurant that used to be located in downtown Modesto. It was a favorite then and has become one again. Great service, wonderful staff and excellent food. Everyone at our table had a wonderful experience. We’ll be coming back for sure!

Found this little place last night — little is a good word. We had a reservation (which I highly recommend) and were immediately seated.
Once at our table, the size of the restaurant didn’t matter. The atmosphere was intimate, the staff is experienced and professional. Food was out on our table in about 20 minutes! They had a nice affordable wine list — we had a 2013 Robert Hall Cab for $ 25. The food was wonderful. I had the Halibut with a lemon basil sauce (delicious!) and my hubby had the Seafood Pasta — very good also. Dessert was Crème Brulee which was good (not Dews good but good).
The prices were very reasonable — most dishes under $ 15 and the portions were perfect, not too big or small. Of course the real deal was upon leaving. We ate at 6, finished just after 7 and there was a line to get in about 15 parties deep!
Definitely try it! We’ll be going often!

Great food and awesome staff!!! The owner is wonderful! Never knew how wonderful Italian food was until I ate food from Ciao Bella!!! Now I’m hooked!!! Everything I’ve tried is great! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!!! Chau is the best!

Atmosphere was great. Tried tons of appetizers and loved them all. My dish had a lot of prosciutto which made it a bit salty. They could have gone a little easy on the prosciutto but it was very good.

Myself and two others had an amazing meal last night! chicken jerusalem, sole almondine, gorgonzola ribeye, were all fantastic! The veges were perfectly cooked. The tiramisu was wonderful. Great service too even though the place was packed.

I made a reservation for my birthday on Saturday. Apparently they couldn’t find it and the restaurant seems to be fully booked every weekend. I was a little upset because ciao bella seems to be a perfect place for birthday dinner. But they were so understanding about the situation and they said they will just fit us in. We waited outside and the server brought us complementary tea while we wait. As soon as we got our table, the server said that she’ll give us complementary appetizers and dessert for each person! Also, the food we ordered was amazing! At that point, I knew that they really care for their customers and they really go above and beyond to meet their guests’ expectations. My friends and I came in disappointed but left with happiness!

Came here for dinner with our friends and the food was pretty good. As far as food, I would say it’s much better than chain restaurants like Olive Garden or Johnny Carino’s the food was flavorful, the staff was friendly and the service was good. The negatives would have to be that it was a little too warm in their for my comfort and the restaurant itself was pretty small inside. I would go back and give it another try, that or see about ordering to go.

I actually was here about 2 weeks ago but forgot to review. It was date night for me and my honey. We made a reservation maybe 4 hours before. Upon arriving there we were directed straight to a table! Awesome. We were also given some bread and water. We ordered as an appetizer the fried zucchini which didn’t look very pretty and was a little overcooked but still was fresh and good. We decided to split a plate of the pasta Primavera which was a good amount for us (we wanted to go drink after). There was lots of veggies in it which was a plus. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The restaurant is a little small but has good food. I will definitely return and try something else. Way better than going to olive garden or some chain restaurant. Thanks ciao bella!

Meh. Very bland, very average. I wouldn’t return. Nice looking from the outside but service was slow. $ 60 for a meal I could have made MUCH better myself. Don’t waste your time.

Great food! The chicken cordon bleau was the best I’ve ever had.
And the service is amazing. My wife went there to pick up a to-​go order (bless her heart!).
While waiting for the meal to be prepared the owner gave her a glass of wine for free while she waited. Nice touch!
And that’s not all. He put in a large bowl of delicious soup for FREE as well.
We will be back to sample more of their tasty dishes soon!

My husband and I eat there 2 or 3 times a week we love the food. Salmon is always cooked to perfection. The steaks are tasty too. I personally love the pastas, lasagna is one of my favorites. Prices are so good it doesn’t pay to eat at home.
Can’t say enough good things about this special little place to dine. Be sure and call for reservations don’t forget to have a side salad yum

First time here with my friend for dinner and food did not disappoint. Good thing i read reviews online telling me to make a reservation since it’s a small place and the restaurant filled up quick. We ordered crabcake for appetizer which was good. I wanted to order calamari too but i guess that’s for the next time i come back. I had the stuffed salmon, stuffed with crab and mozarella cheese with smashed potatoes and vegetable medley which was delicious. I chose camermet chardonnay which paired well with my salmon. My friend had the chicken parmigiana which she said was also good. Will come back again soon to try out others on the menu. :-)

Have reservations! Four of us were seated right away and our drinks and appetizers pretty quickly. Fried calamari appetizer had a crispy, light batter and isn’t overly oily. The waiter was so nice and attentive. It’s a small space and is good for dates and for kids. It seemed like mostly families were there last night. Outdoor seating would be great for cooler nights. Located in a big, empty shopping enter so parking is a breeze.
Dinner was good, wine was ok. Overall for the price, accessibility not a bad place. Super cheap compared to LA Italian prices. $ 13−28ish bucks for an entrée. From what I know about true Italian food from Italy, this isn’t authentic or traditional Italian food but it’s good.

This place requires a reservation. Both its indoor and outdoor seating is limited. Although we did manage to get seated outside on a Saturday evening (7:30pm) without a reservation.
The serving staff was only a few people, so there was a long wait for ordering and getting our food. But once our food arrived it did not disappoint. I had the coconut shrimp plate and my husband had the chicken Alfredo, which went by a different name but I can’t remember it now. Excellent dishes. The food would be my main reason for coming back.

We really like this place. Good tasty food with really nice portions. We’ve been there three times and haven’t been disappointed. Calling ahead/​reservations are good depending on when you want to go. As another reviewer said, not too big, wouldn’t suggest bringing kids. Definitely more of a low key or romantic type of place.
*update — had Valentine’s Day dinner there. The restaurant ran smoothly and the food was wonderful as usual. If a restaurant can be this good on Valentine’s night — that’s a good sign.*
