Pasha was a much larger restaurant than I expected with elegant décor. We ate in one of the large back rooms and had most of the room to ourselves(perhaps because it was 6pm when we started on a Monday). We ordered the patlican to start, the mashed eggplant with garlic. It was less pureed than I the dish usually is with some stringy eggplant pieces and large chunks of garlic. Still, I enjoyed it. I had the large bowl of manti as a main, and it was pretty good. The dumplings were solid but a little watery for my taste. The yogurt sauce on it was delicious, and the spongy Turkish bread mopped up all the leftover wonderfully.

I’ve eaten here a few times and enjoyed everything I’ve had — from chicken dishes to fish… The octopus is so tender and one of my fav’s! The vibe is comfortable and inviting-it’s the kind of place to catch up with friends over food and drinks. …and why wouldn’t I try the baklava… yum!

We got an interesting spread of food from Pasha Restaurant last weekend. We had some manti, hummus, kebab, chicken stuffed with pistachios, an eggplant spread, and more. Overall, the food was flavorful, but there were some off-putting tastes in some of the dishes. For example, the manti were in a very sour yogurt sauce, that was really overpowering. There was also a tobacco-like taste to the lamb and mint filling. Nothing terrible, just surprising and unexpected. The bill came out to be a bit more than expected, but I should know better since the restaurant is in Manhattan, and just a block off Central Park. If we come here again, we will probably make reservations ahead of time to ensure a good spot in the dining room, and also stick with the flavorful meat dishes instead of the appetizers.

The food was average. The service was poor. I was brought the wrong dish when the entrees were brought out and the server was trying to convince me just to take it. I had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes for them to bring my correct order. My colleagues waited for my food to arrive which I told them to eat without me. They didn’t apologize or anything.

Love, love LOVEPASHA! Great pistachio stuffed roasted chicken! Absolutely to die for… Appetizers are great as well. Only wish it was not so quiet in there… (You can clearly hear everyone’s topic of conversation)

The food here is solid — you’ll be guaranteed a good meal no matter what you order and that’s high praise because few restaurants can say that most everything on their menu is good. I started with the lentil soup, which wasn’t your traditional lentil soup, it didn’t have lentils, but it was creamy and delicious nonetheless. For my entrée I had the lamb shank — it was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned — and what made it heavenly was the eggplant it was wrapped in. There was also a baked tomato on top — perfect combo of my favorite things: lamb shank, baked tomato and eggplant. My friend was happy with her vegetarian dish and I had a taste of her appetizer — the baked zucchini and dill pancakes, served with yogurt — really delicious and fresh. Pasha is charmingly decorated in Turkish textiles and fabrics. The back dining room is cozy for a meal with a friend or a date. My only complaint is our server, he rushed us through our whole meal, we wanted to catch up and he kept interrupting us every 30 seconds to take our drink order before we had had a chance to look at the menu, then he proceeded to rush us through the rest of the meal. We came in on a Sunday at 3:30(our reservation time) and he had effectively made us feel unwelcome and basically pushed us out the door by 4:30 — one hour we were there! The place was empty, I don’t know what his rush was. That was rude and for that reason, no matter how good the food, I doubt I’ll be returning anytime soon.

Full marks! The décor was lovely and the food was great! The bread they gave for the table was so addictive too. Chicken and lamb were my top picks for sure. I’ve had better grape leaves though. Zucchini cake was surprisingly nice and apple tea was on point! Apricot dessert was something I’d never had before. Really enjoyed the cream! Also the waiters were nice and really quite attractive: P

My wife and I ate here with another couple and we were so pleased with everything. We were seeing Star Wars in the area and were trying to find a restaurant, so we deiced to check this place out. The food was amazing, the service was great, the bar area was really nice with a small group playing guitar and violin. The space had such a nice feel to it it was such a pleasant surprise. At first I thought the portion size was small(just used to American pile on plates that have no flavor) but then I realized how rich and flavorful it was and how full you get. It is easy to over order so pace yourself and it is better to try a lot of smaller things and share. I will for sure come back!

This place is by far the worst restaurant with the worst service. The servers are incredibly rude and have an attitude problem. Upon arriving, the workers immediately said something about us in Turkish, not knowing that we speak the language as well. I’m a paying customer, you’re not doing me any favors. I expect to receive the same respect that I give you. I ordered the chicken kebab and it was undercooked when it arrived. We asked for hot sauce, they didn’t bring it. We asked for ketchup, they didn’t have it. I asked for a Coke and they only have diet, and no surprise, didn’t bring it. They made us feel unwelcome. You’d get much better service at a Burger King.

Yes! Go here for sure. Everything was fresh and tasty, don’t miss the Sigara boregi From the warm bread all the way to coffee and baklava this restaurant was really on point. The lamb shank was exactly what I hoped for on a chili night, melty with loads of flavor. Our server was attentive and had great recommendations for appetizers and mains. If you’re in the neighborhood you’d be missing out by not stopping in!

After reading many of the reviews I was certain Pasha couldn’t be as good as described. It is. First and for me most important, the place is quiet, yes you can actually have a conversation. The service, attentive, without being fawning. The décor is pleasant, 2 dining room areas and a small but really nice and comfortable bar area. It’s a bit old fashioned, but in a really nice way. And I haven’t even gotten to the food. But you get the point, this place deserves its 5 stars before you even order. This restaurant does yogurt wonderfully, and every variation made me want more. The Turkish bread, served warm, is the perfect accompiament to the cucumber yogurt dip, or the charred eggplant with vegatables dip. The zucchini/dill pancake came with a garlic yogurt(cheese) and was excellent, but the pancake is actually more of a slice of a very large baked pancake and again really delicious. As for entres I ordered the chicken kabob, not expecting the succulent well seasoned, bits of deliciousness that was served, taking the recommendations of others my husband ordered the yoguti kabob and was not disappointed by the delicious well seasoned lamb dish, the other person in our party ordered the chicken breast stuffed with rice, pistachios & pine nuts with a lemon sauce, another really good choice. All this was on the Pre Fixe menu which also featured desserts. The baclava was the winner, with the flan like custard(flat rectangular gelatinous) being somewhat disappointing. The only surprises and wrong notes of the dinner were the overly watery untasty(and we thought frozen) spinach that was served with the stuffed chicken and the very overcooked string beans and carrots served with the chicken kabob. On the other hand the grilled tomato, red and green peppers and the grilled zucchini that also came with the chicken kabob were fresh and wonderfully tasty. All in all great ambience, and delicious food served with genuine hospitality makes this restaurant better than your average neighborhood place. I know we’ll be back to try some of the many other dishes and specials Pasha’s has to offer.

I just want to start with the fact that this place is absolutely 5 stars for the quality of the food. From the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts, everything was tasty from beginning to end. But, I did have an interesting experience where I had to downgrade to four stars. I came with a group of 5, a bunch of us meeting for the first time, for some Turkish food. At first, I thought this was a small restaurant, but they led us to the back where there was another dining room. Ambience was really nice. Now there were only a few tables that night, but for some reason, the service was slightly slow. Some people ordered drinks, others didn’t get to, etc. At one point though I think our server/manager got annoyed with us being slightly indecisive and said he needed to go back to the kitchen. This naturally shocked us because it’s quite rude to hurry your customers along. And we were trying to order a lot! In any case, some people in my party took offense to this and pointed this out to him. A small verbal battle ensued where he said that in his 18 years at the restaurant, he had never been treated so poorly. When he returned, some people tried to lightheartedly jab at the situation to lighten the mood, but the guy took it very seriously and it just got very awkward. So for the rest of the time, there were a couple people helping us. That being said, he did apologize and gave us a glass of wine and a few desserts on the house. I do think that the argument stemmed from miscommunication and a failed attempt at humor. It’s too bad, because I don’t think the argument should have even happened. In any case, onto the food! 1. Bread with olive oil: Very lightly seasoned bread with a light olive oil. Loved it! 2. Kalamar tava: One of the best calamari I’ve had. It was only lightly battered, and the squid was fresh with a slight crunch. The lemon with the sauce made this a dish that was gone within 10 seconds. 3. Manti: These were tiny little lamb dumplings, but really gave it a nice texture in your mouth. The yogurt sauce it came with was a perfect complement. 4. Mucver: Dill and zucchini pancakes that were out of this world. With the sauce I think this was one of my favorites of the night! Such unique flavors. 5. Imam bayildi: This was baby eggplant stuffed with some other veggies. Again, great combination of flavors and textures. 6. Kuzu pirzola: Grilled Colorado baby lamb chops. Extremely tender and came with these amazing potato wedges and veggies. 7. Pirasa: This is basically a veggie stew. The only downside is that this really needs a lot more rice than they give you to eat! 8. Kaymakli Kayisi: Poached apricots stuffed with pistachios. Comes with a nice cream. My god this was amazing. 9. Baklava: You get a few per order. These were among the best baklava I’ve ever had. It was the perfect consistency and sweetness. 10. Firinda Sutlac: Turkish rice pudding. Great complement to the other desserts. Not too sweet, but very satisfying nonetheless. 11. Kazandibi: This was basically a creamy gelatin. Someone told me it was made from chicken parts. In any case, it was good so I don’t think about it. They have an extensive wine menu but limited non-alcoholic drink menu consisting of a few juices. No Turkish tea unfortunately, and no yogurt drink. But they did have Turkish coffee. Overall, loved the place except for the awkward experience. Oh well. Sometimes these things happen!

Great experience! Their food was amazing! — I would recommend everything we tried except the rice pudding. The staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing(they have great recommendations too). Best baklava I’d had in a while! Definitely must have some if you’re going!

Yeah. 4 stars is completely accurate. The food came out a wee bit slow but maybe I noticed that because I was not enjoying a cocktail even though they have a full bar. I got the chicken kabob. It came with delicious grilled zucchini and tomato and rice pilaf. The chicken was grilled perfectly as were the veggies. The rice was excellent as well. The vibe is nice. It’s clean. I have a new spot for dinner.

My fiancé and I stumbled upon this restaurant on our walk around upper west side. It’s tucked away, but definitely noticeable. The atmosphere in this restaurant is quite calming. We loved the décor. There is a patio and then a massive waiting lounge. Further inside is where the dinner seating is. Staff were super friendly and great service. Menu was simple and food was authentic. Both of us love Turkish cuisine and have been to Istanbul. The food is definitely authentic. They give you complimentary olives in oil with endless amounts of bread.

The first thing that pops out from my very recent memory of Pasha as I thumb this review is the many smiles. From the young woman behind the bar to the waiters, lots of smiles galore. Which is impressive given that the décor is extremely memorable. This second quality is a quite successful attempt to transport you out of the City to some exotic local. I started out in the dining room, but being the most annoying guest possible, I then opted to move to the narrow sunken patio in front of the establishment. Again my indecisiveness being met with a «sure, sure» and those smiles. The day was very blue, perfect weather for a quasi-quiet New York street and a Robert Jordan novel on my Kindle. Cute wicker chairs and tables wide enough for a big plate and my ebook. The food was delicious. The octopus appetizer was lightly flavorful, and not skimping on the actual octopus. I appreciated that. The lamb shank was a lot of skin, but enough meat that I wasn’t hungry still. Leaving room for dessert at the bakery around the corner. Ah, us fat Americans!

I love Turkish food, but I have consistently found the quality of a lot the Turkish food in the area is «meh» at best. However, now that Pasha has come into the picture, my perspective on Turkish food has changed. We came here on a Saturday night as part of the pre-theatre crowd. Their 5−7pm pre-fixe at $ 27.99 is a great deal, although I personally opted to try all the appetizers tapas-style. We also brought a bottle of wine with us and were charged a $ 25 corkage fee, very reasonable considering none of the other restaurants we called in the area allowed wine snobs like us to bring our own bottles. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and exotic. It feels like you have been whisked away into another part of the world. There is a main dining room with red walls, and seats that are not cramped too close together(also a plus for Manhattan.) When you sit down the restaurant brings you Turkish bread along with seasoned olive oil. Our waiter was extremely attentive to our food and drinks, and we were never left with empty water glasses, or wine glasses for that matter. I can definitevely comment that I really enjoyed the appetizers: baked zucchini and dill pancakes(Mücver), pan fried crispy phyllo dough filled with feta cheese, parsley and dill(Sigara Böregi), home made steamed dumplings filled with ground lamb and fresh mint(manti), thick slice of imported feta cheese slightly grilled, sprinkled with paprika, and served with tomatoes(Beyaz Peynir), and hummus was a special as well. All the dishes were well-prepared and superb in taste! Husband also commented on his main dish, Tavuk Gögsü Sarmasi, saying that it was some of the best chicken dishes he had ever had. Overall, delicious food and reasonable prices. Cannot wait to come back!

Great food. Great coffee. Great wine from Turkey($ 8) Prix fixe between 5pm-7pm: 3 courses for 27.95 including coffee or tea. 20% off all take-out and deliveries cash(no card) orders. Complimentary bread is soft and warm and comes with olive oil and olives! Tovuk gogsu sarmasi is chicken breast stuffed with rice, currants, pine nuts and red peppers. It has a massive flavor profile and even the spinach on the side tastes carefully prepared. Service is great but they do recommend that you pay tip by cash.
