We truly enjoy the Liberty. The owners are great people, seriously nice, informed custodians of a pub environment, gracious, and great at their jobs. My partner and I are transplants of some 25+ years from«somewhere back east» and as such, we loved Roger’s Zoo and appreciated it for its unique style and revel in the current rockin’ style of The Pub. We left our previous(that which will not be named) environment in hopes that and rejoicing in the fact that Oregon and coastal Oregon in particular, would be different. We did Manhattan and other spots in the US but ultimately found are true home here and joy at The Liberty Pub. It is for that reason that I was saddened. However, I’m not surprised at the temerity of a Phillip W., as it is in the tired tradition of pretentiousness, which would have amused us in our youth, and now merely wearies us in our adulthood. We wish he and his good luck and the speedy acquisition of sagacity,(oh, and brevity as well). The Liberty is a delight, as are its owners and staff in their good cheer, good food, good company(minus a few … you know who you are), warmth, welcoming nature, and a spot where, regardless of one’s occupation, life trajectory or politics, musical preference(all hail the Traditional Irish Music nights), life can be a sweet respite and joy. It is to be savored by those of us who know it, and know it best.

My husband and I stopped here while passing through and really enjoyed our experience. Definitely a local place but has a home town bar atmosphere and welcome to outsiders. Was expecting typical pub food that is good but nothing earth shattering. I was pleasantly surprise with how delicious the food was. All of their sandwiches and pizza are have homemade buns or dough which is amazing! I would highly recommend this place to anyone in or near the area who is looking for a good casual pub experience. If we lived in this area, we would make this place our local hang out.

Great relaxed vibe. Awesome food. Good selection for booze. Probably the best place in the south coast to just relax. Oh and the help is insanely nice. Come here.

Great selection of beers, good food for a bar though sometimes you have to wait a while to get it but it’s worth it. The staff is friendly and the owner is good at remembering people who come in on a regular basis.

Went out here the other night to grab a beer and were pleasantly surprised by the place. Has a nice cozy vibe. There was live piano music happening. Good people calm relaxing place to enjoy a beer and some Good food. We split a personal size sausage/pepperoni pizza for an appetizer and were really impressed with the quality of it. Best pizza I’ve had in a while. Really fresh, hearty ingredients. They have a good beer selection both on top and bottled. The décor really flows well, the owner seems to have had a clear vision when they put this place together. There’s live music often, friendly bar staffing just a nice crowd overall. Really happy to have found this spot. We will be frequenting this place often in the future.

Really nice pub in North Bend on the 101. Staff and owner was friendly with good drinks and beer at the bar. They had some live music. Menu with lots of pub food. Had their«Maui Wowie» pizza. It had a very thick crust and although I’m more of a thin crust fan, it was still really good. Think it would be a great place to watch a game and enjoy some drinks with friends.

After a brief, new appreciation of Liberty, the wheels seem to have come back off again … at least food-wise. We went in the other night for dinner and beers to our detriment. The draft beer selection was, as always, good.(We continue to excuse Liberty’s flirtation with the over-promoted, under-qualitied Stone Brewing monolith out of San Diego. We’ve seen much better and bigger operations fall to Stone’s marketing slickness.) The problem arose when our food arrived. We planned to share a «Here Chicky-Chicky»(chicken, bacon, red onion, garlic, and tomato) medium size pizza for $ 20 with visions of leftovers for breakfast, and the Garlic Mac & Cheese with bacon and jalapeños for $ 8. Walt’s Pourhouse does an almost identical pizza called«Chicken Carbonara,» but with Alfredo sauce. It is always good, and sometimes truly great. But Liberty’s version came out with a Marinara sauce, which just didn’t work. But that wasn’t its biggest problem. The cook must have two or three times forgotten if s/he had added the garlic. The last handful must have gone on raw just before it was sent out to us. As usual at Liberty, it took quite a while to get to this point. And by the time our food came out, we were famished. Having worked in kitchens, neither of us are inclined to send food back either. We know what a delicate genius can do to «enhance» food they think was wrongly sent back. So we did our best to scrape off the hundreds of tiny pieces of machine-grated garlic before gagging down a few pieces. As for a breakfast of pizza leftovers? Hopeless. The mac and cheese was okay. But when we had it here before, it had been toasted under a broiler before serving, which added just the right amount of crunchiness. This batch just came out gooey. * * * Having now lived in our job-driven adopted hometown of North Bend for going on two years now, we’ve tried to be very patient with the local eateries. But it’s gotten to the point where we only regularly eat at three places: Walt’s, Tokyo Bistro, and BPJ’s Thai Gourmet. We also eat at the great Stockpot, or Yeong’s Place for burgers occasionally. But we’re not usually ready to eat by 2pm when Stockpot closes, and we like a nice beer with our burger. But Yeong’s is all soda pop and milkshakes. Everyplace else in town has disappointed us too many times to give them yet another crack at our credit cards. But when, like last night(a Saturday) after a packed showing of «The Revenant,» we hit both Walt’s and Tokyo Bistro to find both overflowing with people. So while Thai wasn’t our first choice, we ended up at the always-empty BPJ’s Thai Gourmet. It’s really too bad. Coos Bay and North Bend have for the past several years been falling all over themselves to welcome in a Canadian developer to build the Jordan Cove Energy Project — a mammoth Liquefied Natural Gas export plant on our beautiful bay, and to condemn a right-of-way across the lands of hundreds of Oregonians for a pipeline to bring fracked gas to this environmental catastrophe on the bay. All this on the pretext of creating a handful of jobs(although we know more than a few local pockets will be well-lined in the process). Ironically, if these same city«leaders» paid half as much attention to encouraging the establishment of higher-quality food and lodging operations here, it could create many more jobs, and it could help draw many more visitors to the area to share our beautiful setting. How? Help with marketing. Help with investment tax breaks(the same kind they’re handing out so generously to Jordan Cove). Help with beautification of tourist areas and supporting infrastructure(maybe an unbroken bike-only and walking path circling the entire bay from Eastside to Charleston?). But no. As things stand now, we rarely go out anymore to eat after work or on weekends while we’re here at home. We won’t waste our money anymore on the crap, and we get bored going to the same few places over and over. So we save dining out for business trips to The Big City, or for vacation trips. What a wasted opportunity.

Great service and good drinks. We had a plate of onion rings shared between 2 people for $ 5. Good price and best onion rings in coos bay for sure. My roommate had a Crown and coke and I had a sea breeze. Both drinks made well and was a bit strong on the alcohol like we like it. Definitely worth the money to check it out

Played music here with my wife on two separate occasions and holy crap do we love this place! Like the other 5-star reviews said, the food is to die for(especially the pizza), the beer selection is wonderful and savory, the place is clean and very spacious, and the staff(namely Ethan the owner) are WONDERFUL. There is always great music playing, live or recorded. Check out the record display on the stage! This place is an absolute gem in an otherwise unsightly and depressingly salty cliché of a coastal town. THISPLACEISWHATBRINGSUSTONORTHBEND! From Chico, CA. Also, ignore anyone giving this place less than 5 stars. They’re clearly retarded, blind, and/or just an idiot. Put down your phone and order everything.

The Liberty Pub is a hidden gem that must not be missed. The menu is full of delicious culinary treats for every palate. Ethan, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and professional with a wonderful customer service personality. I will return next time i am in North Bend, as this is my local friend’s new hot spot. The building is definitely accessible to all levels of mobility.

Robust beer selections and great service. I had a couple of pints after the pubkeeper offered awesome suggestions and storied backgrounds of each beer they serve. I also had the«omnivore» pizza. I totally recommend this pie that is piled high with super fresh ingredients and baked to perfection. Very artful and delicious! I LOVE the star wars art in this place! — Five stars are not enough for this pub!

The Liberty Pub is a real gem. They’ve got a great beer selection and the food is pretty damn good by anyone’s standards. We had the Liberty Rolls and the pizza with pesto and clams. Both were excellent. Ethan, the bartender, was really helpful with telling us where to spend our time in town and to catch the sunset – Simpson Reef, by the way. If we ever make it back through North Bend, I’ll make sure we stop here.

This place is so awesome !! They have the best pub food in this town. Their pizzas are super yummy and so are their stuffed sandwiches. The place doesn’t look like much on the outside but on the inside it is decorated fun. This place is down to earth and the staff are so friendly. You will not be disappointed here. They also have a family dinning area if you have minors with you.

The menu isn’t incredibly varied, but it’s got plenty of indulgent, rich bar foods that are as delicious as they are terrible for you. If you’re from anywhere outside of a 150-mile radius of New York City, you’ll probably like their pizza, although I personally found it completely unsatisfactory. However, since this is not their only food option, and the beer selection is one of the best in the area, I have to say that I recommend this place. But the ambience is probably the Liberty Pub’s strongest aspect. The place appears to be clean and well-kept, with a good staff. It’s kept fairly dark and has a little bit of an edgy, fun feel. And they regularly host live local music which has yet to disappoint me.

Absolutely wonderful! The owner sources all kinds of wonderful beers on tap, often limited runs of seasonal or hard-to-find taps. The atmosphere is dark wood, cozy, and NOT sketchy: a classic pub with local patrons and friendly barkeeps. The food is pub«+» and the menu is clever and concise, with things like shepherds pie, home-made Mac n cheese, and fish n chips. I Will come back to check out the live music scene… And may likely add a fifth star at that time!

What can I say? The service was excellent, drinks were great, and the food was incredible. We started with the liberty rolls. Meat, cheese, onion, corn, spices. They were damn good. I got the bacon cheeseburger made with pizza dough instead of a bun. Easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My boyfriend had the homemade split pea and ham soup with some cheesy bread. He absolutely loved it. Although we came all the way from Eugene, we’ll definitely be back.
