I needed a solid meal to go at 9pm. This hit the spot. The bread is really soft and tasty and they aren’t stingy with it. It doesn’t have any flavoring though so don’t expect that. I ordered from the bar and I didn’t get to finish ordering my dessert before the girl walked away but that’s ok. I didn’t need it anyway. The food came out pretty promptly. The only thing that really bothered me was that I had to ask for silverware and napkins on a to go order. I’m staying in a hotel w no utensils so I would have been really peeved if I hadn’t checked before I left. I was pleased with my baked ravioli. Different from any kind I’ve had before and in a good way.

Stopped in tonight to use another BOGO free offer. Pretty busy and the hostess seemed to be doing a lot of work busing the tables. Lindsey was our server and she did a mahvelous job. She was very friendly and always smiling. Great service. Food is always good.

Papa Vino’s has always had solid, reliably tasty Italian food at decent prices. I’m not ashamed to say that on this particular evening I finished an entire loaf of the free italian bread on my own. They provide an excellent oil with garlic to dip it in while you wait for your main course, and if you want to keep eating them, they’ll keep the loaves flowing. It looks like they’ve added a few specials to stay competitive with the slew of other Italian places in the area, including $ 10 pasta specials. All in all it’s a great place with a nice atmosphere and reliable food.

I’m giving the food a 2 and the service and building/seating etc a 4. Therefore I land on 3. Food is blah. Olive Garden has better fake Italian food. And much better bread before the meal. Had the eggplant parm and it was alright. Described as lightly breaded that baby was breaded at least 3 times. But still decent. The spaghetti and sauce side it comes with was practically spaghetti-o’s. Service was great. Constant refills. And quick food or with any other request. Unless I was forced I wouldn’t choose to eat here with so many other options. I mean Bravo is right across the street and a billion times better.

I visited Papa Vino with a large group this evening(server was Carlee.) The staff was able to accommodate many food preferences including gluten free, vegan, & vegetarian. The cook’s area was clean and the chefs professional. The restaurant(including the bathroom) was clean. Entire staff seemed like pleasant, hard workers. We will certainly be back !

It took a little bit to come out but well worth the wait, I love calamari and their calamari was soo good it had very light. And don’t forget to dip it in the marinara sauce it’s the best I’ve ever had

Tried this place after getting a BOGO dinner entrée coupon in the mail. We got an order to go so I can’t speak on the service per se, although the building exterior and interior were both nice. My wife ordered the wild mushroom fettuccini(gluten free, which was accommodating) and I got the lasagna. Portions were large, and we got a side of bread that was tasty. Both of us thought our dishes tasted bland and the lasagna was too salty. The flavor was lacking on both dishes. I would give them a 2.5 out of 5 but that’s not an option. Glad we had the BOGO, not sure if we’ll be back to try a different dish again.

Worst Service, below average food… Ordered wine and helped open the bottle and the waitress didn’t even have the courtesy to pour it for me or my wife… And then they expect tip and gratuity. Food below average, taste was horrible, this place will shut doors soon as way better options available in the area. This place seems to for old timers with low expectations from their food. Definitely not for the foodies expecting quality and service. Will never go back!

Picked up some dinner to go so I can’t comment too much on customer service although the waitress who helped me at the bar was friendly. I was excited to see gnocchi on the menu so asked her how was it, she said it was one of their classics and pretty popular, didn’t go much in detail or suggest any other items. The gnocchi is not your typical kind. This seemed more like lazy pillow pastas. A roll of pasta and just cut into pieces with a bench scraper. The pieces were pretty big but my container felt like it was too big for the amount of pasta/sauce I received. It did come with a whole loaf of bread with olive oil. The sauce had a little kick to it. The drive home was less than 5−10mins, but already my pasta was a bit oily. I think next time I’ll try something else.

About 15 years ago, Papa Vino’s was a nice place to eat serving quality food. Maybe my palate has matured or the food has gone down hill, but the last couple times I have been to Papa Vino’s, the food has been less than average. This visit, it was downright awful. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and the chicken had seen better days! It was like rubber. The other issue was I had asked for a little extra marsala sauce, the meal came in a soup bowl and the chicken could not be visualized. The presentation was terrible and the chicken was even worse. I reported the problem to the server and she was receptive to however I wanted to handle the situation. She offered another chicken marsala or a different meal. I opted for the chicken parmesan. It was average, at best. Formerly frozen chicken, fried with tasteless cheese on top and, most likely, canned sauce. Everything tasted like it was from the freezer or a can. Nothing tasted like homemade or even close. Even my diet pop ran out of syrup and it looked like light brown-tinged liquid. I, again, asked for a replacement. No comp was done for my meal or the inconvenience and disappointment. The manager said, «sorry.» That was it. It looked like she had done this many times before. I did notice that the restaurant was not busy and there were many empty tables at a peak dinner time. This may be a sign that others have had some less-than-satisfactory experiences as well. At this point, Papa Vino’s will not be a place that I return to soon. There are so many good restaurants around that they will have to step up and greatly improve if they want to be in the highly competitive market for people’s food dollar.

We went here for a Father’s Day dinner on the way home from River Walk Days in Detroit. For some reason, we forget about this place and only go about once a year. On this visit, we didn’t have the friendliest waitress, but the food was excellent. Although we have only been here a handful of times, everything we have tried has been delicious. The bread and oil that they serve is so soft and tasty. I have ordered traditional spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, and even a steak. Each time I enjoyed my meal. My wife always gets a shrimp pasta that she adores. Recently, we even came upon some buy one get one 50% off for lunch and dinner coupons, so we will be returning soon. If you are looking for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant that is not Olive Garden, this is a solid place.

I went here with my Mom since it is her favorite place. I had the unlimited soup and salad. My fault, I don’t eat wheat, so not much in the menu for me. What was there to like? Sorry, but minestrone was overly salty, I do not believe it was store made, if it was… Wow. The salad consists of fake bacon bits, ½ ounce of what should have been blue cheese, but pieces so small you couldn’t tell. Maybe 1oz cheese on whole salad, maybe. Then there was the dressing which was not store made either. Really, guys, homemade Italian is far better than processed. Call me, I have a really easy recipe. Lettuce was an ice Berg/romaine mix? Very blah… Despite not having breakfast, and being starved, I didn’t finish lunch. What a disappointment. Ugh. Will try not to be back… But, Mom loves this place, can’t figure out why…

Received a coupon in my e-mail for buy one get one free. We have not dined there for a while because quality of food was going down hill. Surprise surprise, both our meals were rated a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. Very bland for Italian food! Service was good, but I see why they are giving coupons. Bye Bye Papa Vino’s!

Terrible service but pretty decent food. My dish wasnt great but rest of the table liked theirs. Asked the manager to fix the service but that fell on deaf ears and the waitress started giving attitude. All and all not the greatest meal.

The hubby and I visited for late lunch/early dinner and it was great! I had not been since high school and he never so we walked in and hoped for the best. YUM-O! We started with the bread and oil with garlic chips. The bread was stellar. We asked for a second loaf. I could eat that by itself as my meal ;) We split a mini Caesar salad(nothing mini about it; it was a heaping bowl), it was really good also. A little too much dressing so we will ask for light dressing next time. I opted for the Shrimp Diavolo and my hubby had the Chicken Arrabiata. Both decent. My hubby LOVED the grilled chicken that came with his meal. I concur-it was flavorful and moist. They were huge portions so we both took more than half home. We sampled one tiramisu to end the meal. ITWASDIVINE! A giant piece that was super moist and came atop a healthy drizzle of fudge. I would say dessert is a must here — take your entrée home and splurge on the dessert, you wont be disappointed =]

Our service by Jenna S was exceptional this make the difference between 3 and 4 stars The food was great too. You always start with a tasty loaf of bread with some excellent olive oil. I got the penne pasta with shrimp in an alfredo sauce — - it was terrific — lots of shrimp. My wife enjoyed the Spaghetti with meat sauce. I had the house chianti and my wife had the McWliiy shiraz wines and they were both very good.

Between take-out and work lunches, I’ve sampled a good portion of the menu from this restaurant. On a recent evening, a friend and I caught up over a hearty Italian meal. The restaurant was fairly busy for a rainy Tuesday evening but fortunately, there wasn’t a wait. I typically order the Baci and Prosciutto, which are small pasta bundles filled with prosciutto and cheese in a lovely cream sauce or the Linguini Pescatore, a pasta dish with mussels and shrimp in a garlic wine sauce. Another interesting dish is the Shrimp Penne Carbonara. Until Papa Vino’s, I’ve never had carbonara with peas before — which I really liked. The bacon imparts a strong salty flavor whereas the cream and peas are sweet and delicious. I also always look forward to the Papa’s Salad, because of the sweet dressing and bacon. Because of the bacon and the cheese(the latter of which I tend to leave off), it is not necessarily for someone watching his/her weight. This evening, I had a favorite comfort food, the spaghetti. The substantial portion was covered in a meat sauce and was quite good. Between the entrée and the Italian bread with roasted garlic/olive oil dipping sauce, I was too full for dessert. Service was fine.

Oh my god! I really hope this wasn’t a fluke! My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night and it was AWESOME! We started off with the oil and garlic, which was delicious. The bread was hot and fresh! After ordering our meals, we both forgot that we wanted to try the tomato bisque. The best tomato bisque I have ever had! Creamy and savory with a touch of garlic and tomato, neither flavor was overwhelming. Our entrees came next, holy craaaapppp they were so good. Hit the spot! I ordered a ‘dinner duo’ as they called it. I ordered the short ribs with homemade mac and cheese. Oh my god! The ribs were so tender that I was able to cut through them with my fork like butter. Truthfully, it tasted like homemade pot roast, either way it was delicious! YUMYUM! The mac and cheese was great too! It was hot and creamy with a good amount of cheese to compliment it. My boyfriend ordered some kind of chicken dish in angel hair pasta, but that was great as well! Also, bare in mind that we came in at 6 o’clock on a Wednesday night and they were BUSY. But despite that fact, the service was great and the food excellent. Overall, this dinner was fantastic and we both plan on returning very soon! If you have never had Papa Vino’s before, I do recommend this place. I now remember why my family always came here when I was younger. :)

OH yes. this place gets the ”5 star” review. I love Papa Vino’s! This restaurant, first of all, takes reservations. I love that fact, because my friends and I can be assured of a table on a busy Saturday night. The hostess staff are always ready and attentive and very kind. We always get seated promptly and usually, I believe that you must wait until all guests have arrived. The food and service at Papa Vino’s is excellent as well. I love the thick and saucy Lasagna with meat and the best cooked noodles. This Lasagna is the best in town and I get it at least every other time we visit. The other dish that is among the top in my book, is the«little purses pasta» filled with cheeses. I believe it’s called«Sacchetti» or something similar? Sorry Im not so good at my Italian food names. But they just called it the«little purse filled pasta». I loved it and I have gotten it several times as well. My husband loves the«Skilletinni»! You can get it with Sausage, chicken and/or shrimp! The skillet meal is wonderful and very tasty and comes piping hot to the table. There are many wonderful meals at Papa Vino’s. They have great wines to choose from and the dessert is out of this world! I love the cheesecake and just everything here tastes excellent. The ambiance is nice, though sometimes a bit noisy. I do like the lighting and the way the restaurant has several different«rooms» to be sat in. The cooks will«make to order» something if you ask for«no butter» or something like that. They will always please the customer as far as I’ve seen from my visits. My family and friends always choose this restaurant when it is a special occasion and/or a holiday. We go other times during the year as well, when we just need to feel like its a special day and want to be treated well and feel uplifted. Like I’ve said, I just don’t think there’s any dish that isn’t great. The bread with the«crunchies» and the olive oil is really great way to start your meal too! OH and the«Papa» salad is big enough for two people and it’s also a great start to any meal. It is soooo yummy with the best lettuce and the greatest dressing on it, along with the cheese and the bacon and now it’s just making me feel hungry… LOL…Yes…so give it a try and get reservations if you go on a holiday or special day… Enjoy!

Went there last week for lunch with a friend. We both had the steak salad. We both felt it was some of the worst salads we ever had. It tasted as if all the lettuce /veggies had been thoroughly washed but not dried so whatever amount of skimpy dressing had been added was washed away. The waitress checked on us about 5 – 10 minutes after she brought the salads, we asked her for more dressing, 5 minutes later(so 12 – 15 minutes after we got our food) we get about 2 more spoon-fulls of dressing(½ of a little container). It made the salad slightly more tolerable but none-the-less for most of the meal it felt that we had steak on wet lettuce. The bread dip was also horrible for the class of restaurant this pretends to be. Tasteless oil(not olive oil) with pepper with DRIEDSTALETOASTEDGARLIC pieces. The same garlic I bought from Sam’s club in a bulk container, slightly toasted. Almost no flavor. Very nice décor and atmosphere but does not deliver when it comes to flavor.
