I’ve been going to Penn Station for years. After moving away I haven’t been able to find a comparable cheesesteak, so during this short visit a trip to Penn Station made the list. A chain restaurant you ask? Absolutely! Portions are healthy, ingredients are fresh, the bread is great and fresh cut fries rule. Take a look at the other reviews and they are typically telling you the same thing. .. Drop what you’re doing and go to Penn Station!

It was my first time trying this place. I was told«it will be the best sandwich you’ve ever had» and ITWAS! I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with small fries and a drink(get the lemonade because I forgot to!). I’m usually a Pepperjacks person but after eating this sandwich I’ll definitely only get Philly Cheese Steaks here. I had a great experience with the staff from start to finish. I was very impressed with how friendly they were with all of their customers as I waited for my food to be made. I ordered my food to go and it remained hot and fresh until I reached my destination. I tried the sandwich first and everything fit together so perfectly I couldn’t believe what I was eating. The bread was softer than I’ve ever tasted. The meat, cheese, onions and banana peppers stayed tucked into the bread and I was shocked that I didn’t have problems with my toppings falling out. I could taste every topping even in my last bite. The fries were awesome too! I definitely recommend trying this place if you’re looking for something new to try in the Overland Park area. They cater as well! If you like what you’ve tried and need someone to cater your event, I’m sure your friends, family or co workers will thank you later!

I really don’t understand what the last review is talking about or why it took YEARS to return to the BEST sandwich spot in the city. I usually go for the Philly or Grilled artichoke but today I went in and decided to try a cold sub. I first walked in with warm greetings polite staff and a VERY clean restaurant. The entire staff was working so hard! Making sure we knew the menu to get exactly what we wanted, getting our lunch out fast, making sure the appearance and quality of our food was only the best. The cold turkey sub was outstanding! Every ingredient fresh every bite better than the last! From the staff to the food to the atmosphere every part about it is phenomenal!!!

Kind of disappointing. I ate here years ago when they first opened and it was fantastic. Went Wednesday evening, got the Club sandwich w/fries and was let down. The sandwich looked a bit disheveled. No meat, tons of lettuce, about a gallon of whatever condiment. However, their French fries were legit! That’s why I gave them 2 stars, rather than 1. The tall guy that took my order was very personable, the other 2 employees were kind of rude. Made me feel like I was a burden to whatever else they were doing. You can check them out for yourself, but I won’t be back.

I stumbled across Penn by accident and was quite embarrassed to find out it’s been open for four years. First impression through the door was classy. Very clean with a definite east coast flair. Ordering went smoothly with a very polite and helpful staff for this first timer. A Club and Philly Cheesesteak were ordered and both were very good. The Philly was messy, but, hey, it’s a Philly! My only issue were the beverages. I ordered two large fountain drinks and was taken back by the $ 2.69 price tag for each. Total for two sandwiches and two drinks came to just south of $ 14.

The subs were good. Pretty basic. Not sure how it’s much different than other oven baked sub sandwich joints.

Wow!!! What a well run restaurant. This was the first time I have been to a penn station in over a year. Five stars all around. Great food and awesome service. I will be back for sure.

Well-managed, good ingredients, consistent quality and most importantly, tasty sandwiches and amazing fries. The cheesesteaks are my favorite — perfect proportions of meat, bread, toppings and nice and juicy.

I have tried several different menu choices, and have never been disappointed. Today I tried the 6″ «founder’s special» cheesesteak sandwich with pizza sauce. The bread was very good, and did not over-power the sandwich, which had plenty of meat, cheese, and my selected toppings(grilled onions, mushrooms, and banana peppers). The«small» fresh-cut fries were very tasty, and generously sized. The price was reasonable, the dining area was nicely done and clean, and the service was first-rate(friendly and professional). I also like the monthly special, and the e-club.

I have only gotten one thing here and that’s the Philly cheese steak. Why haven’t I tried anything else you ask? Cause it’s that good! The bread is amazing(I am sure they use it on all the other sandwiches) but when you top it with perfectly seasoned beef, cheese, mushrooms, banana peppers and spicy brown mustard(these are my choice toppings) it all is so harmonious on my palette that I can’t bear to try anything new. Try it… you’ll see! For side items I recommend the fresh cut fries… always served hot and cooked just right– love when I find the small crunchy ones! Also get the fresh squeezed lemonade which isn’t too tart or too sweet. Then, if you lucky to find it, get your hands on a chocolate chip cookie to finish your meal. They make them in the morning and once they sell out they don’t make anymore that day. Not gonna lie, we are super sad when we see the empty basket. Only hint I can offer is if you do get the spicy mustard, ask them to go light. Tend to be proud of that stuff which can be overpowering.(Unless you want some Philly with your mustard!)

Wow, amazing and certainly worth all the hype. So nice to have a sub sandwich alternative. Super friendly staff and the subs are amazing. First trip, we had an Italian and a Grilled Artichoke. Two lemonades and split an order of fries. Can’t wait to come back and try the Philly. Easy 5 stars. Don’t think, just go!

I wish there were more in Kansas City! The employees were sweet, food handling could have used improvement(cashier was handling food without gloves/washing hands) but some of the best cheesesteaks ever.

After going to the movies, we thought we would just stop in for a quick sandwich. My boys loved it! We ordered the Philly and Club with large fries, drinks and large cookies. We stopped in about 9:30 so few people there and waited on right away. Brought food out to us then the cook come out and checked on us to make sure everything tasted good!

Well… I walked into this establishment expecting greatness because of the reviews that it had received on Unilocal. However, upon arriving in the building I noticed how obnoxiously loud it was due to the large crowd of preteens that were present without proper adult supervision. Undaunted by my desire to have a good sandwich, I decided to ignore the pleasant atmosphere and get my order to go. Rather then immediately ordering at the counter, I decided to look around the place. There’s really not much to it, a few tables, a soda fountain, and rest rooms located around the corner. Meandering my way back through the cluttered empty tables and the server who couldn’t find the proper table for the order she was delivering(trying twice at the wrong table before finding the correct one), I made my way to the register to place my order. Before I could even start talking, the young man at the register interrupted me saying, «Just so you know, it’s going to be at least 20 to 25 minutes for your order». Taken aback, I smiled at him and said never mind. I’ve never had a place suggest that I not order with them like that. I don’t know, perhaps I should be thankful? I know I sound like an old fuddy-duddy who is just angry or unhappy all the time, but that’s simply not the case. I look/ed forward to eating there. Unfortunately, I got the sense as I spoke to the gentleman upfront that this was the norm so I doubt I will try again. I would suggest you consider the timing of your first visit and exclude a Friday evening like I attempted. Perhaps some obscure Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm will allow them to properly prepare to serve their customers in less of a rush?

Came here for lunch today for the first time, It was really good! My kids are picky eaters, as most kids are, and they even ate their sub, they had a salami and cheese sub! I had a ruben and it was good too, the sauerkraut wasn’t over powering. My sister had the philly and that was really good. I think I’ll get that next time I go. The meat there is really good and I like their fries as well, it’s like 5 guys fries! And their lemonade is good as well The place is kind of small, I wonder what it’s like for lunch but otherwise it’s clean and inviting :)

Was in the area and decided to pick up some dinner. Easy to find and to get in their lot, restaurant was clean, staff was friendly and acknowledged us when we walked in. Easy to read menu and reasonable prices. We ordered chicken teriyaki, philly, cheesy bread and fries of course, all were good, fresh, good sized portions. Definitely will be back!

After reading all the Unilocal reviews, I decide to give this chain a chance. However, I was kind of disappointed. I usually go to a place 2 – 3 times before I do any review. First time: My husband and I went there on a Sunday afternoon(which is super dead). We both ordered the 10 inch PHILADELPHIACHEESESTEAKS. It was hot and moist but not enough to be special. Just bunch of greasy meat heated up again and piled onto bread. The fries was old, VERYDISAPPOINTED! Second time: I came by myself on a weekday lunch. I gave it another try with a different classic sandwich. The REUBEN sandwich was much better, again who does not anything with thousand island dressing. I got a fries again, which was still soaked in oil. Maybe I just like the McDonald fries than the fresh cut fries.(or they need to change their fry oil once in a while) Overall experience: I love the sandwiches but I WISH the fries are better. However, previous reviewers are correct, Firehouse or Jimmy johns are better choices.

Sandwiches to die for! I personally am a huge fan of this place. Their food is fantastic. They toast the bread, the meat and chesse is great. The cheese oozes over the bread and is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. And it is consistent every time we come. I love this place. They also have hand cut french fries never frozen. A family favorite. This is as good as it gets. Compared to Subway and Quizno’s this is a Roll Royce compared to a Pinto.

My go-to sub shop! My brother use to live in Indiana and he would always rave about this place. So I had a chance to try them before they came to OP. The subs are just as delicious now as they were in Indiana. Actually better, since it’s down the street from my office now :) The Philly is pretty tasty, but the sub I can’t ever resist is The Club. The bread is perfect, toasted on the outside and soft on the inside. The honey mustard makes it slightly sweet and the melted cheese just puts it over the top. I prefer my fries a little on the thin and crispy side, but these are pretty decent. I have to admit though, they’re a little slow. Even when I’ve been the only one in line, it’s taken a good 10 – 15 min for a sandwich or two. But, I don’t care because it’s worth it. Plus they are very friendly. I will wait for these sandwiches!

When I eat subs, I like them hot and the bread a bit toasted. Penn Station subs are delicious. Now I know nothing about authentic Philly Cheesesteaks so I’m not going to try to make any comparison. They also have chicken subs too, the Chicken Teriyaki is my favorite. I love their fresh cut fries. They’re sprinkled with sea salt and they have malt vinegar available. One order is enough to share unless you’re super hungry. Their fresh squeezed lemonade is also very good. Also if you’re feeling indulgent, then grab one of their fresh baked cookies by the register. They’ve got big chunks of chocolate, nice, soft and chewy. You won’t want to share it. You can take it to go or enjoy it piping hot in the dining area. We usually eat it there. The staff is friendly and helpful. They make the food quickly and fresh to order. I know this is a chain, but if you need a quick meal that doesn’t feel like«fast» food this is a great option.
