Great service, better food, affordable prices I ordered the hash with turkey chorizo and avocado toast and my fiancé got an omelette — HUGE hash portions and both were absolutely delicious. The food came out quickly and we enjoyed every bite. The side of fruit came with watermelon and kiwi plus some — not your plain old apples and grapes. The waitress was friendly and sweet. We will definitely be back!

The lobster Benedict was absolutely repulsive. The egg was raw and the second my fork touched, there was a clear liquid substance that ran all the way to the other side of my plate. The sight of that along with the extremely fishy smell did it for me. I couldn’t even eat the potatoes. I had high hopes the reviews were pretty convincing unfortunately my experience was awful. The waiters were nice I asked our waiter if this was normal and he said that that’s how it served. I am not the type to return food or make a scene so I just left.

I almost feel bad writing this because the guy seemed nice, but our experience here was awful. We were the first ones here and the people who worked there genuinely seemed a little surprised. Our drinks took a bit… Plus the coffee was watery. Unfortunately the food was bad too! My waffle came out hard on the outside and raw on the inside. The bacon was burnt to a crisp and I had a shell in my eggs. I was so sad! My boyfriends good came out ok, mediocre at best. I have to say the server was nice to take off my breakfast; he was also very apologetic. I hope this was just a terrible day for them because our meal a few months ago wasn’t that bad.

Was in the mood for second breakfast with mum and Wee One Sunday morning so we decided to stop in. For starters, minus a few stars for the employees hating their jobs and taking it out on the customers. Ask for a highchair… don’t care! Ask for some water… don’t care! Ask for a clean table, syrup, a spare plate to share food with Wee One, a coffee cup without lipstick stains, the check, the RIGHT check… Don’t care! You ain’t gettin’ it! But I guess if you don’t mind eating at a dirty table with no water on dirty dishes and don’t care whose food you pay for, then you could always just rate this place on the food. Ordered the stuffed french toast and the eggs Benedict with potatoes and added a side of fruit. The french toast was thick slices of bread(pretty tasty if you order it unstuffed, I’m sure), «stuffed» with cream cheese and fresh strawberries, dipped in egg and then cooked. Unfortunately, it leaves the inner part of both slices of bread uncooked with raw egg. So, sorry Wee One, no french toast for you. The eggs Benedict tasted like butter. Period. No lemony flavor of hollandaise, no vinegary flavor(which I find enjoyable) on the poached eggs. Just butter. Very disappointing since that is pretty much what I order at every restaurant and then judge then on. The potatoes were a bit overcooked which made the skins tough, but the peppers were undercooked so eating them was flavorly appealing, but texturally defunct. I will definitely not be back.

So I went there… was thinking about eating. there were 2 people eating there… I waited. and waited… and waited…“Johnny” walked up asked me where I would like to sit. I laughed and said in an open table… then I paused and thought. Why are there SO many open tables??? I asked where the manager was and he said not there and laughed. I said why are you laughing and he said b/c he’s never here. I said ok, where’s the owner? He’s said he only comes 2 days a week. I said is he at another restaurant? He said no… that’s just how Jose and Rico are. they are never here… HE «Johnny» just comes to work and does his job… I asked so what do you do when someone gets upset about their food and asks to see a manager? Johnny said he takes care of it and just«takes it off their bill». NOWFASTFORWARD… I LEFT… Came home and read the reviews below. I AMGLAD I DIDN’T EATTHERE!!!

I came here once because I had a buy one get one entrée free coupon, and I generally like to give local, non-chain businesses a try. The coupon was a tremendous value at almost $ 10 off. The atmosphere was cozy casual and not too fancy. I liked seeing the brick fireplace in the middle; adds to the feel-like-home effect. The home decorating side of me wanted to add lighter, breezier décor with more natural materials. Now for the food: I ordered a coffee which was good, and my son had a hot chocolate. It came in a big mug full of whipped cream. It was quite special and had a unique taste; kind of like Abuelita hot cocoa with notes of cinnamon. We both ordered eggs Benedict, though I had the El Paso version. Both were delicious! The hollandaise sauce was spot-on, and the El Paso hollandaise sauce had a subtle spicy twist and chorizo on top. The English muffin was easy to cut and not too thick, so that the sauce could meld with it. Fresh fruit on the side was indeed fresh and home fries were okay. There were some sautéed veggies mixed in, which was a nice touch. I would prefer the potatoes a tad bit crispier and with more herbs and flavor. Service was friendly and fast. I look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

Inconsistent! Ive been here several times and only a couple of times did I find the food great. The other times the food was just mediocre. Service is never top notch. It’s adequate but sometimes they are slow and inattentive. My last visit our bill was $ 45(2 adults and 1 child) which I thought was expensive for breakfast. Portions are fairly large but I’d rather have consistency and better quality food. We won’t be back.

This place used to be good or at least what I remembered. We stopped by on Thursday, took them 15 minutes to get my name down then 15 minutes later, still waiting. Thats 30 minutes so far. Turns out it was graduation but they should have been prepared and staffed more employees. So we left. Attempted another try this morning. Got seated right away and our order taken quickly. Looks good so far. My fiancé ordered medium rare steak and eggs with a side of white toast and I got traditional Belgium waffles with a side of 2 eggs and bacon. Our food came out 30 minutes later. The steak was well done so he asked for another one. Few seconds later our server said sorry we ran out of steaks. At the same time I heard another server telling the table behind me that they ran out of leaks. Sounds like they don’t have any to begin with. How do you mess up on the last piece of steak? My fiancé said he’ll just take the eggs and toast, thinking that they’ll remove the steak and give us back the plate. Maybe that’s restaurant policy but he said new eggs are being cooked. 15 minutes later eggs came out. 10 minutes later, burnt rock hard toast came out. I don’t understand why toast didn’t come out same time when they had the down time in between. My waffles were so-so, nothing special. However my bacon came out burnt like bacon chips. I don’t know if it’s the kitchen’s fault or whatever but this place definately needs new ownership and new staff to focus on customer service and perhaps a new menu. I feel like they need to apply to that show on Food network like Restaurant make over. We basically got a box for my waffles and took his eggs home and I heated up our own toast. Could have had a decent breakfast at home. They didn’t charge on his plate, just my plate and coffee that they never came around to ask for refills. Hate to say this but wouldn’t recommend anyone else to waste their time here.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone smh… My girlfriend and I wanted to try this place out since we saw the reviews on Unilocal… But the service was not even to par, waited a long period of time for our order, and not to mention there were eyelashes in both of our plates! So with all that being said I give them one star only reason is cause the coffee was pretty good

This half-burnt toast is a metaphor for my experience at The Beach Grass Café in Poway. It has good, high-quality food, but they haven’t figured out how to make it part of a great experience. During my recent Sunday morning experience, the place was dank, the service was slow, and the food was cold. I was pleased to find that there wasn’t waiting when we arrived. Unfortunately, the small staff was insufficient for the few people there. Also, the décor is dark and the booth in which we sat smelled vaguely of diapers. They took our order quickly, but had to wait a long time to get it. It was cold when it came and the toast burnt. It would have been great otherwise. Coffee refills were non-existent until it was time to leave. Although the food was good, the experience was wanting. There are too many alternatives to return.

The food is good, we like to go there for clam chowder and a sandwich on lazy days. The restaurant setup and décor is nice. The wait staff is good and very nice. The pricing is good. When you go, bring a sweater, it’s always just a little too cold in there to be comfortable.

We’ve tried a couple times to give this place a go but we just don’t seem to be having any luck. The first time we went it took 40 minutes to be seated because the hostess didn’t show up to work and the wait staff was running the floor, their tables, and kitchen as best as they could. Which waiting happens, we understand, but they didn’t know who to sit first, how many in what party, or anything. Once we sat down, we waited about another 10 minutes before someone came to get our drink order. The waiter was very nice and very apologetic for the short staff that day. We ordered our drinks, and asked the waiter to take our order as well. He seemed to get a little flustered that we wanted to order food right away also.(after just about an hour of waiting we were hungry.) 20 minutes go by, we get our food. We were really impressed. Thinking the food was well worth the wait. The kids were happy, we were happy, good to go and thought we would give it another try some other time. Fast forward to today, we decided to go grab breakfast again and hoped to have better luck this time. We got in and we’re seated immediately, off to a great start. And that’s pretty much where it ended. Sat for about 15 minutes before someone took a drink order, then another 10 before we had drinks. We had no silverware to stir our coffee and our waitress never stopped by to refill coffee until the end of our breakfast. So the coffee cup sat empty for a while. Once food came out, the adult plates were cold, the kids complained about the eggs not tasting right and still being soggy, and didn’t even attempt to finish their pancakes. We decided to just pay and leave as fast as we could just to get out. This place is officially off our list, which is a shame because it has the potential to be good.

It pains me to write this review as I really used to like this place. Rewind about a year — green omelette special, fresh salsa, great taste, good bread and potatoes. Today — runny eggs in omelette, very greasy potatoes and burnt toast. Didn’t feel great after eating. There has been a steady decline with this restaurant in the last few visits and now time to call it quits. Will not be coming back. Sorry owners, you had a good thing but are blowing it. Lunch has never been good at this place but breakfast was always a win until now. Looks like I’m not the only ones — read recent 2015 reviews … place is on a downward spiral — avoid.

We’ve been coming here for awhile now… enjoying their breakfast and their delicious Bloody Mary’s. But unfortunately today, we found out that they are under a new management and have gotten rid of their alcohol license! NO!!! that can’t be true!!! So no more of your delicious Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas? What’s breakfast without the two? We almost were going to leave and go elsewhere, but we were so hungry that we decided to stay and order. To top off having no BM for breakfast… SERVICE was AWFUL!!! The food took forever to get to us… maybe over 40mins. The waitress had no clue if one menu included eggs or not… served us food without utensils and napkins… then refills my sons glass of Sprite with water… WOW!!! I don’t know what to say… but new management means changes(in this case for the worst), new workers who are not properly trained, and cooks who can’t get the food out on time means a Disaster to Happen! Hopefully they’ll get their acts together soon, because we don’t want to deprive our kids their favorite meal here, which is breakfast.

I don’t like handing out two stars. I like the bright side of things, but when you send back bacon at a breakfast joint… No Bueno. I have been to beach grass a bunch. I think they serve a solid omelette and they know how to cook an egg. Every dog has it’s day though. This place is super hit and miss. Service is usually bunk, especially on weekends. Today I went with a girlfriend, Friday brekky with a mimosa… Surprise!!! They apparently«gave up» their liquor license(really?), which takes mimosa or brunch totally out of the equation. Not thrilled. We proceed to order, as to not look like complete boozers who must have drinks with breakfast on Friday– My girlfriend gets a green omelette(which rocks), and I get the standard and fool-proof bacon and eggs. I have never sent back bacon in my life. I can cook bacon with one arm and blindfolded. If you are in the restaurant business and specifically breakfast– bacon is your bacon. It’s inexcusable to serve a dried out, greaseless and cold plate of bacon. Period. Sadly– this place just misses. Service, mediocre food and now mimosa-free. Goodbye Beach Grass.

Poway is a rather far reach for me, especially for breakfast time but my friend and I decided to give Beach Grass Café a try. Located off the main Poway Rd. this place look deserted when we first showed up around eight for some good morning eats. This place tries to capture the café bistro feel, but falls short with a diner like experience. We were seated upon coming into this place, but we never really grasped who our real sever was the whole morning. Looking over their beverage menu they offer a huge variety of stuff for waking up in the morning, I always get coffee while my buddy went with a smoothie. Unfortunately the tropical storm smoothie tasted just like pineapple juice and at the end of the drink we found out why, it wasn’t ever really blended( ). I was in the mood for some pancakes, some sweet ones. I went with their chocolate chip pancakes combo( ) which came with two eggs and some bacon. The eggs and bacon( ) were rather okay, the bacon tasted too crispy for my liking, but all was well until I got to the pancakes. The hot cakes( ) weren’t fluffy and tasted very dense, almost heavy. Most of the time you try to go for light pancakes, that are crispy on top but fluffy in the middle, they didn’t quite hit the mark here. However I did like that they didn’t throw a whole bag of chips into them, a lot of places go wrong there. My friend had ordered a custom omelette( ) with a side of beans. She commented that it was a good omelette except that the jalapenos had the can taste to them, like they were pickled. The hot sauce that came on the side wasn’t the spiciest, she ended up resorting to chuola. While Beach Grass Café isn’t exactly a bad spot to grab breakfast, it certainly wouldn’t be my first choice. The service was lacking for us, we had to almost wave someone down to get some water and some refills on my coffee. Then again, maybe thats because we never really knew who was serving us, different people came to take our order, bring the food, drinks, etc, drop the bill off.

What a great place! Healthy food options and smoothies! Great service. Right when we walked in we were greeted with an amazing smell of holidays and a really nice man, Rico(maybe the owner) He was friendly and expressed how happy he was that it was our first time in. The food and smoothies were fantastic and the plating presentation was on point! I love when places take time to put the plate together in a fancy way, it makes such a difference! I will be back and can’t wait to bring some friends!!! Thank you for great food and exceptional service.

Beach Grass Poway SD: Poway 11am Monday 14th June 2014 Four Stars After hiking Iron Mountain, Liz, KatieO, and I went to the Breach Grass to enjoy Brunch. Since we were filthy with sweat, dust, and last night’s alcohol were sat in the back of the restaurant. #dirtykidssitintheback. I had the Chile Verde chilaquiles with Kalua Pork($ 2), Over-Easy Eggs, Black beans, and Spanish rice. When out food came out, Liz got a great picture of KatieO and I instagramming our food #inception. The food was great. The green sauce was nice and tangy but not really spicy. The pork was fatty and salty. The eggs were running. The chips had that nice in-between crispy and tender texture. I enjoyed the dish thoroughly. The rice and beans were okay. Next time a side order of sour cream.

My family is happy! We finally found a breakfast place near by that doesn’t rhyme with Croken Tolk AND has GREAT service! And did I mention DELICIOUS food? I ordered the green omelette. It had asparagus and zucchini and spinach and feta. Once I added chicken sausage, like my husband said, the dish was made for me. And it was every bit as good as you would imagine. Came with a generous side of fruit and an english muffin with homemade jam. Oh and pretty decent salsa for dipping. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and he did not stop talking about how good it was. A generous portion but nothing that would keep you in bed for a few days! Most of the dishes were in the $ 8 – 10 range. The kids meals were wonderful too. Daughter had the funny face pancake with raspberry jam($ 3.99). It was huge. 2 of them could have shared. Son got the chocolate chip pancake combo($ 5.99). Came with eggs and bacon too. Another huge portion. The only not great thing as the coffee. It tasted like your typical drip coffee with no oomph. And no real cream. Just the little packs. The best thing about Beach Grass? The service! Top notch! Brenda was amazing. She made the crowded dining area feel like each was the only table in the place. Bravo Brenda!
