It appears that Tidbit is now closed. Sign on the window says they are takin a break after Labor Day. They haven’t reopened. So sad that another business has disappeared.

Best gelato I have tasted! Their variety is a pretty good selection and it’s extremely worth the money! I am coming back AND I am bringing my boyfriend to let him try it out. I got their macaroon one and the pistachio. DELISH! Come check it out!

OUTSTANDING !! The pastrami sandwich is both delicious and filling and I am a big boy! The carnitas tacos and pasta salad very good. The gelato is the beat I have ever tasted– the Iced Oatmeal Cookie– taste just like the Mother’s cookies. Do yourself a favor– stop by for lunch or dinner– you won’t be disappointed or broke.

Small and humble restaurant. Very pleasant owners and workers; they always have a smile on their faces. Good food, and contrary to some negative reviews about their gelato, I’ve actually never had a bad experience with their dessert. A lot of different flavors to choose from, too! They also serve quite a unique selection of smoothies: Pink Grapefruit, Strawberry Pineapple, Pear, Green Apple, Peach Mango, and Guava. It’s order in the front, but they still manage table service — keeping up with your drinks and asking if you need anything else. I got their Foccaccia Burger, which I devoured in under two minutes. I was hungry and I haven’t had a burger in a while. It was ok. Nothing memorable, but still delicious. Overall, a decent place for lunch. It wouldn’t be one of the first places that’d pop in my head for lunch, but I’d gladly return if invited and/or reminded :)

Small little place that can be hard to miss. It’s a little dark inside but ask to sit outside on a nice day! They have a cool lunch special where you get a grilled cheese and cup of gelato for just $ 5. They have quite a few unique gelato flavors so it can be hard to decide!

The chicken sandwich was BOMB! So yummy, flavorful, and juicy… plus the avocado was the best addition. This place has a lot of different things and I loved it! The philly cheesesteak was also pretty good… with that strong onion flavor kick. But nothing beats the chicken sandwich! For the side order that comes with every entrée, I got the pasta salad and I’m glad I did! Yummy! My friend kept stealing some when i wasn’t looking haha. We were really full at the end but we still tried the mocha gelato and oooh I wish I had more room to try other flavors. I would definitely come back here next time I’m in downtown Sac! The owners are super nice and the food is so good!(:

YESYESYES. The menu here is great and the gelato flavors exciting. Almost more notable still is the value!!! Any of their menu items(burger, cheese steak, 3 tacos, chicken sandwich, etc.) come with your choice of side(fries, pasta salad, side salad, etc.) for $ 8.25?! And the food is fresh, assertively seasoned, and with portions on point? Yes. The super nice woman at the counter not only helped me narrow down my lunch choice, but encouraged me to try a couple gelatos just because she saw me staring! I can’t really do dairy but I ended up ordering a GRAPEFRUITSMOOTHIE to drink… call me sheltered but I’ve never heard of such a thing! I looove grapefruit. It was made with their grapefruit sorbet, lime and mixed berries and came in a ginormous cup for $ 4.25. And it didn’t come with subsequent stomachache! ;) While I was eating my cheesesteak(ok sometimes I eat dairy… ha!), one of the other employees kept my water full and even cleared my plate. Like I was at a sit down restaurant…$ 8.25! So happy I found this place and look forward to frequenting it.

I usually go to Devine for gelato. but since they’re closed on Mondays, I still needed my gelato fix. I came across this place and was happy to see that their gelato scoop portions are big! I came in and the place was quiet, I was worried that I had stepped into a place that just opened. However, a nice man greeted me immediately and assisted me with the gelato. I read that they had a coconut macaroon gelato. I was iffy since I can’t stand the consistency of coconut, but when I tried it, I LOVED it! He told me that they double blend the coconut so the gelato doesn’t have the chunkiness of the coconut. What I loved even more was that he smashed more cookies into the gelato which made it 10 times better! I plan on coming back here and try new flavors and actually try their main dishes as well.

I really like this place! If I am not mistaken, it’s a family establishment. Small but definitely fresh and tasty food. I came in with my coworker who grabbed their special salad both times. She liked it both times! The salad was artfully arranged and with seasonal veggies/fruit. I had the fish tacos once and a chicken wrap another. I recall the salsa/chips and the pasta salad was also really good. Service is great, people are super attentive. I have yet to try the gelato there. I noticed while looking out the window that Tidbit when mirror imaged still reads Tidbit! Neat. I like cute stuff like that.

I have been in a few times for gelato and sorbet and have walked out happy, but I finally made it in to try the food today and was not disappointed. The taste/quality to value ratio at Tidbit is off the freaking charts. Seriously. My pants are tightening just thinking about the delectable goodness I got at such a cut rate price. Gelato and Sorbets: I always enjoy the gelato and sorbets here. The cups look small on the counter, but once they stuff it full of the frozen stuff, it actually ends up being the right amount or too much. I haven’t really experienced the icyness that others have wrote about. They always have some interesting flavors to try and are totally patient with you if you want to sample a lot. Food: Incredible. The food here is amazing and value priced. Everything was fresh and made of quality ingredients. We went with a large group for lunch and everything smelled and looked amazing. More importantly, everyone was blown away by how good it was. I had the focaccia burger with garlic fries and also sampled the steak nachos and pasta salad. –The burger was awesome. The meat was cooked perfectly, the focaccia was flavorful and fresh. All the fixings went well together and were high quality. I especially liked the guacamole in the burger, that guac was on point! –The fries were crisp and garlicky. –The pasta salad is as good as people say it is –The nachos were really good too. The steak on the nachos was cooked to perfection and the chips themselves were surprisingly good. Not that I thought they would be bad, but because they are just really really good chips. Not sure if they make them in house, but they were amazing. Service: The service here was good and we were here on a really busy day. There were two large parties and a few smaller ones. The dining room was about full, and we saw 3 parties come in and have to go elsewhere because all the tables were full. Amazingly, lunch service was about as fast as any other restaurant in the area, even though there was only one waitress and one runner. I think there was only one person cooking in the back. The hustle was impressive!!! Bottom line: This place is awesome. Its usually not busy, but it should be. Tidbit is one of the best deals in town. The food is awesome, but its kicked up the next level when you consider how little you are paying for it. Oops, my pants just got tight again! c

It was a rare day off together with my boyfriend and we really wanted to try something new. Being new to midtown this little place just happened to be one of the many spots to check off the must try list. The two of us came in just in time for the lunch special. We opted to share the pastrami with the pasta salad as the side and a small side of gelato. The pastrami sandwich was very lean, light and tasty. But wow! We were both very impressed with the pasta salad. Being pesto lovers we really enjoyed the combination of flavors the sun dried tomatoes, olives, pine nuts provided! It was so great we had to order another side :) We finished our meal off with an upgraded blue cup of gelato in «margarita ice» flavor. Oh me oh my was this the bombbb! The gentlemen working said that there was 2 oz tequila added to the recipe, but we would have loved more ;) The treat reminded us of some of the tasty drinks from our Vegas trip! All in all we enjoyed this little spot ! Tasty, fresh, delicious and to top it off we both enjoyed a filling meal for only $ 14! It’s safe to say that we will most defiantly be retuning. :)

Had lunch at a nearby restaurant and we wanted dessert. Devine(which is three doors down) is closed on Mondays so we looked around for more dessert places and the ones we were thinking of going were closed too. So while looking at Unilocal,we found this place. When I first walked in the first thing I noticed was the wet/dank smell. And the place looked empty but it was 5PM and the dinner crowd hasn’t come yet I guess. Ambiance was also on the colder side with gray colors and minimum designs. But the gelato was good. They had such interesting flavors like chocolate lavender, black sesame, peach mango, chocolate pistachio, and more. There sizes of cups to choose from and you can have 2 flavors for small and medium, and 3 flavors for large… All fall under $ 5. I had the jackfruit and chocolate hazelnut gelato and both were awesome. The jackfruit was a winner. I do agree that the gelato was«icy» and not much smooth and milky but I was happy.

Sandwiches? check! Salads? check! Pasta? check! Tacos? check! Gelato? check! We all know you can get what I described above at four or five different restaurants. But for a place to offer this under one roof? Well that’s pretty much unheard of. «Tidbit Catering and Gelateria» is literally a hidden gem of a place in the heart of Midtown Sacramento that everyone must try(if you haven’t already). As many Unilocalers have mentioned in their reviews, this place can be a hit or miss. Reason being is because there is many more places that most people are familiar with that are much more popular than«Tidbit». Now I’ve been here at least four times ever since they’ve opened their doors back in 2012. And surprisingly their best kept secret is actually their salad! The interior of «Tidbit» is very spacious and quite industrial for that matter. However, it is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes as the black pub-styled chairs flow well with the khaki-toned flooring. And it works well as it doesn’t feel ‘cold’ like some other businesses that offer a similar type of color-palette. For the sunny and mild days, «Tidbit» also offers outdoor seating which is great area to people-watch and see a passerby by foot, bike, or automobile. Now onto the food; in the past I’ve eaten their«Grilled Cheese Sandwich», their«Pasta Salad», and of course their inventive gelatos that are becoming the craze. The gelato is decent but I still have to tip by hat towards«Devine Gelateria» which is literally a block away from this place. But as I mentioned, the«Entrée Salad» here it to die for and a staple item every time I visit«Tidbit». And for $ 5.00, the price is very affordable for what you get. Normally I wouldn’t mention a whole paragraph on a salad but«Tidbit» gave me no other choice to do so. The«Entrée Salad» is a mecca of the freshest ingredients. It includes an abundance of(farm to fork) mixed greens with avocados, tomatoes, onions, crisp apple shavings, walnuts, and vinaigarette dressing. Everything is presented better than what the finest restaurants have offered at literally a fraction of the price. And the taste? Well, it is to die for, at least from what my taste buds have sensed. Folks, give«Tidbit» a try. Every single time I’ve been here, there have been little to no customers which worries me a tad bit. Fortunately, they do offer a catering service that hopefully keeps their revenue afloat. With that said and done, I haven’t had a bad experience yet. And best of all, the guy that works behind the counter is friendly, courteous, and attentive. So two thumbs up to everyone that make«Tidbit» what it is! Good job guys!

Yummy yummy in my tummy! Only came once, and loved everything that came in contact with my mouth. Philly cheesesteak and chicken sandwich were both really good. The cheesesteak was spicy, and I think with maybe a hint of garlic? Blended perfectly into my mouth. The chicken and avocado were the selling points of the chicken sandwich, I wish I knew the recipe just for the chicken so I can cook it myself, so yummy and juicy! The sandwich made me want to go to a grocery store and buy sandwich supplies… then I realized my sandwich would probably never taste as good as the one I was holding in my hands lol. Gelato! I really liked the lychee, oatmeal, and black sesame flavors. Ended up w a half oatmeal and half black sesame.

Really wanted to like this place… why? Cause the guy who worked behind the counter was super friendly… Cause they decided to go up against the big boys at Devine… cause well, I just wanted to! Haha. Unfortunately…it didn’t work out that way. The gelato was way too icy… not creamy… tasted like it had freezer burn. I had a small half lychee half dulce de leche. The lychee had good flavor… but everything else didn’t work. We also ordered a half coffee and half hazelnut. Wifey didn’t even finish a third of her gelato… highly unlike her whatsoever. Says something… sigh. Parking is always difficult in this area… just be patient and you’ll find something.

I’ve had lunch already, but wanted to come here for gelato. It was in close proximity. The décor left much to be desired, but you can’t always judge a book by its cover. I ordered a small gelato with two flavors– black sesame and lychee, very Asian of me. Both of them were really good and not too sweet, which I liked. The owner was friendly. He brought napkins to our table and gave us glasses of water. Hopefully, the place will do well with competition such as Devine(which is a popular place and around the corner from Tidbit).

If you are deciding on whether to go to this place or not, I’ll save you some seconds; go now! Went for lunch and ordered fish tacos, entrée salad with calamari, and carnitas nachos. All of the above certainly did not disappoint. I did see a lunch special for grilled cheese with a scoop of gelato for $ 5, which seems like a win win all around! Honorable mentions: Seriously the pesto pasta salad is tantalizing. I don’t know if this can be ordered as a full entrée, but it’s a must order side dish! Tried a bunch of the gelato, and finally decided on iced oatmeal gelato. From what I remember, flavors of gelato include: passion orange guava(wowww), pistachio with chocolate, Andes mint chocolate, peanut butter, berry cheesecake, ice oatmeal, cucumber lime, pink grapefruit, black sesame, vanilla, dulce de leche, and several others but the names escape me. Service: Staff are ultra attentive and friendly. Owner is a cool dude.

Nice quaint restaurant. For the day we went for lunch, it was relatively empty. It seems like a local business, as the owners seem to have a good rapport with some of the customers. I ordered their Grilled Chicken salad: Slightly overdressed with their sesame dressing, but was still a good salad. The grilled chicken was slightly breaded, which kept the chicken quite moist. The avocado added a creamy element to the salad, which elevated both the texture and flavor profile. The slices of apple also contributed in enhancing the salad by adding a crunchy texture and sweetness. We also had a side of their pasta salad which was garnished with a pesto sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, red onions, and olives. For me, the penne was slightly more al dente for my liking, but was still very good. Their sausage gumbo was okay. It is definitely a lighter version of most gumbos, as it seemed to lack the usual butteriness and thick texture of most other gumbos. However, this«light» style of gumbo was appropriate, as it wasn’t a very heavy soup; which for me, I appreciated. The soup also had a slight spiciness, which provided a appropriate kick in taste, as it was a light soup. Finally, the Dulce de Leche gelato was good. It did have a few icy crystals in the gelato itself, which did not allow it to have a very creamy velvety texture that most gelatos would have. However, the flavor of the caramel was definitely there, and although there are a couple hits and misses, it was still a good gelato.

If you haven’t already tried this gem of a restaurant… what are you waiting for?! You’re missing out! I love, love, LOVE this place. To me, you cannot beat the $ 10 lunch deal: one entrée(regularly $ 8.25), one side(regularly $ 2.85) and one small gelato/sorbet(regulary $ 3). Seriously good price for seriously great grub. I’ve gone two Saturdays in a row. First time by myself while Hubby was outta town for work, and yesterday with Hubby so he could bask in the glory of my new-found fave lunch place. As I suspected, he loved it… score one for me! On my two visits, I got the $ 10 lunch deal. First time, chicken sandwich(yummy deliciousness on foccacia bread) and side salad(not bad) with a ½ & ½ sorbet with strawberry/pineapple and raspberry/lemon(so light and refreshing when it was 104 outside). Second time, I went with tri-tilla tacos(no mix and match from the choices of pork, steak, chicken, or fish, so I went with fish which was delish) and side of pasta salad(soooo good and not swimming in mayo) with ½ & ½ gelato of chocolate hazelnut and all-things-coconut. Hubby loved his chicken wrap with side salad and Bailey’s Irish Cream gelato. Granted, it wasn’t very crowded, so I’m hoping this place does a kick-ass business-day lunch that keeps it open. And, Tidbit is a catering company too, so I’m hoping that’s going well enough for them to keep the store open. I surely hope so, because I can’t keep this place afloat all by myself. Heck, we may come back next week! Try it folks… I’m 99.9% sure you’ll like it and wanna come back to sample their wares again and again just like me :)

I’ve been here a few times since it’s been open. What a TREAT! The service is superb. The owner lets me try every single flavor of gelato and not JUDGEME =) The café/restaurant is very clean and spacious. There are a few booths and plenty of seating. I believe they’re working on including outside seating! They have a wide variety of gelato flavors. The flavors vary each day so it makes me want to come here everyday to try all the flavors! I love the fruity flavors. My personal favorite are POG(passion orange guava, i believe it was) and the lychee! Lychee is super yummy! I like variety so the owner does not mind scooping 2 flavors in mine! The food is awesome! My favorite thing on the menu is the phillycheese steak with pesto pasta. The salami sandwich is also very tasty. I love the perfectly buttered toasted focaccia bread! My son enjoys the french fries. I was pleasantly surprised by the gumbo; its pretty good too! I recommend getting the combo. It’s a reasonable price and the food/gelato is a great combination! Can’t forget the gelato portion is crazy HUGE! — even for a small! Will definitely come by whenever I have the chance. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re MISSINGOUT!
