I can’t say how disappointed I am with brunch today. Father’s Day. I honestly expected much better. I’ve eaten here 3 – 4 times previously for dinner with excellent results. Today, it was downright sad. 25 minute wait despite reservations. No big deal. Sat upstairs despite buffet being downstairs. No big deal. The food however… smoked beef ribs, smoked ‘prime rib’ and pork shoulder. Why would a steakhouse smoke their meats? Why not just roast it like a normal steakhouse. My first taste of the ‘prime rib’ was terrible. I’ve eaten prime rib many many times in very nice restaurants and low end restaurants and I’ve never seen a cut of meat like j primes labeled as prime rib. IF it was prime rib it was from a very very distant end of the prime rib. I honestly wondered if the roast from from a cow because it was so Stengel in appearance. Tiny islands of meat surrounded by oceans of fat. Not even smoked adequately. The roast was tough. The beef rib meat was better though hardly acceptable. The best portion of my meal was the dessert crêpe. Sadly for 5 persons …$ 300+ with tip. Would not return for brunch.

They’re not so new anymore, but they’re still ambitious. Great effort every time from all staff makes up for small misses on atmosphere or dishes. There are a few nice appetizers and appetizers you won’t find on other menus, but their steak itself does not stand out. It isn’t bad by any stretch, but it’s unremarkable at this tier. JPrime is where you go to try something new, not the classics. Still, you’ll have a nice time. Great staff, good bar, nice offering of after-dinner drinks presented on a dessert cart. You can expect to leave happy.

What a wonderful luncheon! Brought our sales manager here for lunch for his birthday, I love when fine restaurants offer lunch during the week, especially a wonderful restaurant like J Prime! More restaurants should follow suit. Service was impeccable! I thought the lunch pricing was fantastic! Class act! No one at our table had been before and they all said they would be returning! Kudos to you J. Prime!!!

Had lunch with usual Friday crew. The service and food was awesome. Only open for Friday lunch. Try out the dinner. It’s worth it.

Best steak in town! A full wait staff brings out all orders at same time on piping hot plates. Been several times and never disappointed. Martinis are perfection . JB

Wow! What an awesome experience at J. Prime. My date and I decided on a nice steak dinner but with all the options here in SA it can sometimes be a hard pick. But boy am I glad we chose this place! The service was attentive and detail oriented. The restaurant itself was flawlessly designed. And the food, oh my! First off, the charcuterie board was delightful as well as the bread. We also got the grilled Argentinean sausage, YUM! For dinner we had the pork osbucco, prime rib steak and corn bisque. I will also mention that the cocktail and wine list are extensive and well thought out. Everything here was amazing. I would expect nothing less from the Chama Gaucha restaurant group. Thanks for a memorable evening!

This place is amazing! The service was outstanding, the food outstanding. The waiters where so nice to all the kids in our party. We had a party in one of their back rooms, they had more then enough staff to cover the people in our party. My steak come out perfect and they had a superb wine list. The staff made our birthday party very special and smooth with their level of professionalism. If you are looking to host a party or just have a romantic dinner for two, this a nice place to try.

The Sunday brunch is legit! So worth the $ 44.95 per person price. You get prime rib, turkey, crab legs, clams, salad bar, dessert bar, crêpe station, omelet station, lobster bisque, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, Carne guisada, croissants, au gratin potatoes and so much more. And did I mention bottomless mimosas? This is not your average brunch buffet. All of the food is quality and prepared fresh. Everything tastes delicious! Also the service is top notch. They wouldn’t even let our champagne flutes get half empty before refilling it with more champagne! They even kept refilling our glasses after they brought us the bill! J Prime probably is one of the best brunches I ever had. If you’re still not convinced to spend that kind of money on brunch, at least try it on a special occasion. You will not regret it!

BESTBRUNCHINTOWN. Sorry I’m yelling, but it is, hands down, and I’m passionate about it! You arrive, there’s a doorman. We are asked to sit in front for a moment while the buffet is «finished being prepared»(we got there at 11 on the dot)…no sooner do I sit down, a gentleman delivers mimosas(strong mimosas) to all of us while we wait. For 3 minutes. Nice! The inside décor and ambiance is dead sexy. I never once pulled out my chair or put my napkin in my lap; they wouldn’t even let me carry my own plate from the brunch to the table! I drink a few sips of mimosa, boom, it’s full again. In case you have received my point: service is absolutely flawless. It was almost embarrassing. I felt like a spoiled, entitled, lazy a-hole just by accepting such a high level of bend over backward service. The food: amazing! There’s the typical waffle, omelet, and prime rib stations. Fruit, salad, roasted veggies. I personally pass on all of it: waste of stomach real estate, y’all. Rather, I ate the entire damn SEA! The most delicious shrimp(don’t get me started on the homemade cocktail sauce) and smoked salmon with alllll the fixin’s(red onion, capers, cream cheese, etc). Crab legs. Mussels. Clams. Lobster bisque. I picked on meats, cheeses, mini quiches, eggs Benedict. Superb. I usually don’t waste much real estate on dessert either. NOT the case here… oh em gee… every single dessert was a mouthgasm: crème brûlée, deliciousness in shot glasses… I think I passed out from pleasure cause I can’t even remember what else I crammed in my mouth. I even went back to the dessert table for seconds. I loved every minute and every bite. Worth every single penny($ 50-something before tip). If you don’t dig this brunch, you’re dead inside. I’ll be back. Over and over again.

First time eating here last weekend. Very pricey but well worth it in my book. Was about $ 200 for two and just 2 glasses of wine for my wife. We sat at table in near bar to watch the Spurs Game and it wasn’t too loud. We each had a salad and then my wife had the akaushi ribeye 16oz and I had the akaushi ny strip — 18oz and birth were two of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted and cooked exactly as we asked — medium rare. Great sides and appetizers and the bread was the bomb! If your wealthy… Just go and if not… Save your pennies and still go!!! Cheers!

My hubby and i went for our anniversary last night and we were amazed by the ambiance, service, and food. When we arrived, there was a man beautifully playing the piano. I ordered the lobster bisque and then we ordered a fillet each and got the mushrooms as a side. The lobster bisque was really delicious, we scooped absolutely everything and wished it just would never end. The fillet was also very good and tender. I was so full that i was unable to even finish the 8oz fillet. The waitress gave us great service and was very attentive but was careful not to overdue it. I have never had such great service. This is a place i will defenitely come back to and by far my favorite steakhouse in San Antonio.

I came for a private event, the service was very quick and helpful. Their appetizer cheese board is a good apéritif. The sides were served family style among the table for the privates event but they quickly brought out more to accommodate the party. I recommend the filet mignon cooked medium rare to medium.

Killer steak! I was really impressed with the menu here. We had fantastic oysters and a beef tartare that was out of this world. I’m not a huge wine drinker, but the list seem very robust. My only ask would be to enhance the beer offerings. With sophistication of beers, they shouldn’t be overlooked in pairing with fine dining. Great lively atmosphere, might be a bit loud for meetings or an intimate night out.

Last night we held my brother’s birthday party here and we had a wonderful time. The food is good, but the service is very good. Neil, our server, was fantastic. The highlights of J Prime: — The cheese bread — amazing! I could eat it all night. — The meat is good, but it does not beat Bohanan’s filet taste and quality. — The ambiance is very nice. More updated than the other steakhouses and I absolutely adore the piano player who sings. — The service is superb — The yucca and potatoes au gratin are delicious The less exciting parts: — The escargot– it is not traditional at all, yet tasty. It’s just not what we were expecting. — My lobster tail was a bit cold — There were some complaints of the sea bass lacking freshness, but taste was not bad. Give it a try!

I’ve eaten here twice now and had a great experience both times. Service is impeccable. The servers, manager, chef, everybody treated us like royalty. They start you off with an assortment of breads and antipasto platter. I’ve had the filet, beef tartar, coxinha, au gratin potatoes, and bananas foster. Everything has been good and I like how everything is served piping hot.

It was such a lovely evening we had there. This place was on the recommendation list of JWMarriot. I was skeptical. I thought this could be a tourists only spot. The shuttle service was excellent, very clean. Our driver, Scott, was so friendly and welcoming. The restaurant décor is very nice, elegant, formal and tasteful. Great services. The house made bread was warm and delicious. I do judge a restaurant by their bread! Their steak tartar came in such a wonderful presentation. Loved the Brazilian fried rice too, so light, colorful and tasty. We tried the dry aged New York steak. The size of the steak to me is Texas size. We live in San Francisco. There are lots of wonderful restaurants here. J Prime impressed us. The price is very reasonable for the food, service and ambiance. The piano player/singer was a highlight of our dining experience! We will have to try the sister restaurant, the Brazilian BBQ, next time we are in town!
