Ounce Steakhouse

So disappointed. For $ 50 entrees with optional $ 10 sides, go somewhere else… so not worth the price.
Got this on a Groupon… THANK GOD because I would never go back and pay these prices. I can make a steak better in my back yard for about 45 $ less First and foremost, the menu online is so far outdated don’t even consider this when looking at the restaurant. This establishment wants to be first class, but can’t even update their menu.
Secondly, everything is ordered separately. So if you get the steak, fish, lobster etc. don’t expect a complementary side of veggies, which costs what… two dollars, MAYBE? Oh no, anything you want COSTS. That is typical at different places but not when the food is sub par. If you want the famous bacon mac n cheese, expect to pay $ 9.00 for this item which again, is one of the best things on the menu and you can still do better at home. Cheese and noodles with some bacon crumbs on top… I think I will opt for Velveeta shells n cheese. Just sayin. I mean, what white linen restaurant serves their entrees with sides for people to share? I literally saw a table of business men with their wives/​dates passing veggies and potatoes, etc. around… HOW CLASSY! (sense the sarcasm)
On top of all of that, the bar service was ridiculous. $ 45.00 plus tip got us 4 glasses of the LEAST expensive wine, and although we were sitting right in the center of the bar, the bartenders were more interested in cleaning up, closing out, etc. than actually serving. And when they did, they used poor serving techniques, such as placing a napkin under your glass, recommendations, etc.
Food: We had the oysters $ 12.50 for a half dozen. This is typical prices but they were TINY. The salads we had were the Cesar (romaine lettuce with some dressing) and the spinach salad which was actually great and we did the half salad for $ 5 each. We opted for the lobster and rib eye steak as our entrees. The lobster was somewhat chewy and the steak lacked seasoning but was cooked temperature wise perfectly med rare. We had the mac and cheese due to other reviews. It was okay, but again, nothing to write home about.
THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE: The bread! Next time I will go (IF I GO), I will eat bread and have a salad.
They gave us an additional $ 20 coupon for a next visit. I gave it to a co-​worker. No thanks.

Update: Went here with a groupon… had a 7:30pm reservation on a Monday night, we were sat at 8:15! When we walked in, no one even attended to us for really about 5 – 6 minutes, then we were finally asked to wait at the bar. The bartenders couldn’t be bothered with us at first and when I finally found a drink that they weren’t out of, she made my martini in front of me and place the olives on the counter for the drink that they were about to go in-​ewwwww. Food was slow, when it came out, over-​cooked. I can say for certain even with another $ 50 for $ 100 Groupon, I would not return here.

I started off at Ounce with a bad impression. I had an 8pm reservation for 2 on a Tuesday night. When we arrived, the host asked us to wait at the bar while our table was prepared. At 8:25, after we each ordered, drank, paid for our martinis, the table was finally ready. 8pm, Tuesday, nobody in the restaurant? Come on, if I wanted a drink at the bar I would go there myself, I actually just wanted to sit at my table!
But I digress… the food was excellent, I had the ahi tuna, husband had the porterhouse. Very attentive service, sleek modern atmosphere and knowledgeable servers and sommelier. However, for the price, I rather just go to Ruth Chris’ or Flemming’s. Something was just off about this place. I have a groupon to use here, but without one I wouldn’t return.

We took a good friend here for her birthday. The staff was really attentive and greeted us right away. They were packed and we failed to make a reservation so the hostess put us at the bar and ended up getting us a table really quickly.
Our waiter was fantastic and always kept our drinks full.
The food was fantastic and well worth the money. The steaks were tender and juicy and the cuts were perfect.
The atmosphere, staff and food was all excellent and we’ll be back for the next special occasion.

Good food but poor service. I blame the management for execution, not the staff. 2 ½ hours to serve a party of 45 is ridiculous. If you know a large party is coming you staff the kitchen appropriately. The manager did not even check on us.
