Exceeded my expectations! The ambiance was so-so but the food was good! I ordered the chorizo egg plate… the tortilla was home-made! So nice, thick with good texture. The eggs and chorizo were cooked nicely and wasn’t too salty. Refried beans had a nice smoky flavors to it. Home fries came in small cubes and were nicely browned. Husband ordered Huevos Mexicana. the scrambled eggs that came with it was nice however has a lot of butter in it. It came with green sauce which was nice and spicy. The tab came out to around $ 16 for 2 breakfast plates and a coffee. Good foods, great prices… not bad at all! :)

Atlanta Airport should take lessons from Las Palapas at San Antonio Airport, this place was quite delicious for an airport venue. Homemade tortillas and decent mexican. Breakfast was awesome and I had real eggs, fried potatoes, refried beans and roasted tomatillo salsa. I will eat here again next time I fly through San Antonio.

Decent mexican food. Really good for Airport food. If your in the airport you will not do better than this restaurant. The heuvos rancheros were on point!

Las Palapas has been a favorite of mine since the ’80’s. Last trip I had the puffy tacos. They were fabulous! I went in with a respite care client who wanted Chic-fil-a instead. They never complain when we bring in food from another restaurant for her! Service is always good Pepe was attentive and accurate!

Really quite good… surprising for an airport restaurant. They must be reading these Unilocal reviews because the service was extremely fast tonight! Overall, a great experience and I can’t believe that there was no mark-up of prices being in the airport — well done!

This must be the slowest palapas in the city :(Not sure if it’s the service or the kitchen, but I’d recommend not ordering(even to go) if you don’t have plenty of time to wait around(~15−20 minutes). To-go service certainly doesn’t have the efficiency of other Palapas’ drive throughs, even if you’re just ordering tacos and you’re the only waiting for a to go order. On one experience, I was one of two to go orders in line; the other order was nothing like mine(a couple chorizo & egg tacos). I ordered two tacos: one beef fajita w/guac and one bacon & egg. I was handed my bag by the same girl who took my order and made my way to my plane. After boarding, I discovered I got a beef fajita taco, an ~8 oz serving of guacamole, and ~16 oz of refried beans in a big cup. I am still confused.

Food was ok but service was terrible. If you are in a hurry, do not go here, and most people at an airport are in a hurry.

Food pretty good and cheap but service a little slow. Waitress seems not to know well the menu when asked a recommendation. Then I ended up getting another plate that I did not ask about. Not the smartest waitress. Food was really tasty

They have super quick service but really low quality food. The beans taste bad, the rice tastes bad, the vegetables are a joke, and the portions are very small. The only redeeming thing is that their salsa was decent, especially compared to the rest of their food.

terrible. there was a reason why there wasn’t anyone waiting to be seated when i entered this restaurant. i was seated fast and it was busy so i thought the food wouldn’t be bad. was i wrong! it took forever for the food to come out and it was a little insulting when the bill came before the food. i ordered the soup combo which i liked the little fried taco that came with it but the soup was nothing i would order again. it was bland. i also ordered the super taco which was too salty for me. the menu boasts the homemade tortillas but i thought they were too thick for normal tortillas. spent $ 11 for lunch but would have rathered starved. won’t be back.

It is a great place to chill while you are waiting for a flight. The margarita was so-so. It was way over priced for the quality. The other downside, it is difficult to get Airport Wi-Fi in here. no bueno. Service was good though…

Pretty basic. Quantity is good. Not very much flavor other than the salsas. Service was good. Room temp was mid 60s. Plentiful soft drink refill.

Quick breakfast yesterday morning. Nothing spectacular. But was filing. Nicer than fast food or usual airport eateries. Chorizo and egg were decent. Would chose here over other spots in SA airport at least for breakfast

It’s airport food, but then again some tasty tacos if you’re en route. Good margaritas too!

This was probably one of the most infuriating meals of my life. Ok, I understand, we’re in an airport, and apparently when you dine in an airport you can’t expect good service(this is what my bf told me) but this place was soooooo bad. First we sit down at a dirty table, because there were no clean tables, and a server comes by and tidies it up. He comes back and takes our drink order, a beer and a margarita on the rocks, with no salt. Some time goes by. And some more time goes by. And some more time goes by. After about ten minutes our server returns with a beer and my frozen margarita with salt. And then runs away. Literally, runs. And some more time goes by. And some more time goes by. Our server finally reappears, and I explain to him that I wanted a margarita on the rocks, with no salt. He apologizes and skedaddles again, doesn’t take our food order or anything, seriously this guy does not have his act together. Meanwhile, we look around and every other table that has a different server seems to have pretty decent service, so I think we might have just drawn the short stick with our server, who’s other tables looked just as irritated as we did, one actually complained to management while we there. Anyways, he comes back with my drink, correct this time, and we each order two tacos, and I order a side of guacamole to start– since there was no guacamole appetizer. The only appetizer on the menu was nachos. All the other tables seemed to have chips and salsa, I don’t know if these are complimentary or not, maybe their server asked if they wanted some? And some more time goes by. And some more time goes by. Finally we get our food, another server drops it off and runs, seriously these kids act like they’re in a track meet or something. We don’t have silverware, or napkins, and our drinks are empty. Oh yeah, and remember my guacamole? It was in a nice little(and I mean little) cup on my plate. My boyfriend got salsa, I got guacamole. Did I want guacamole to start? Like with chips? Hmmmm… We flag down another server to get some napkins since tacos are messy, and some chips for the little side of guacamole. Our server is still AWOL, and our drinks are still empty, however our meal was done. A word on the food: it’s not good. At all. These were probably the worse tacos of my life. The beef had no flavor. The chicken had no flavor. And they were both ground/minced/pureed. Bleh. Our server makes an appearance, my boyfriend orders another beer and I order a cosmo(to help me not start throwing things at the server) and we also ask for the bill since we had already been at the restaurant for over an hour and had a flight to catch. He returns with our drinks, and no check, which is fine actually because we had to drink our beverages anyways. About my cosmo: It was a light brown color. I don’t know how, or why. I tasted it, and it tasted like iced tea. Something was seriously wrong here. We get our check and pay, my light brown ice tea cosmo concoction was a whopping $ 12– and I didn’t like it, or drink it. Usually I would complain about this whole experience, but it took so long, we just didn’t have time. So, if you’re in San Antonio Airport, and make the decision to go here(maybe I just had a bad experience?) and your server’s name is Joe, tell him I said hi. And that he needs to find a new job/career.

Puffy tacos… never had one but the were definitely good at this place. Sorta tasted like a Sope… the chicken was spiced nicely and so was the ground beef and the rice and beans were a huge upgrade from taco cabana thats for sure. We are gonna have to try this place again cause we originally came here to try out the bean and cheese taco that our friends told us about. What a bean and cheese taco is and how its different from a bean and cheese burrito i guess i will just have to find out later haha. It only gets three stars cause my margarita was $ 8 bucks and our waiter didnt offer us our chips and salsa when everyone else seemed to get them so thats a big thumbs down

Las Palapas is one of my favorite airport restaurants. The food is pretty good and great for an airport, the service is great, the décor and room arrangement are great for a traveler with a bit of time to kill. I usually sit at the small tables against the wall, eat chips and salsa, and drink Tecate on tap. Almost every time someone will start up an interesting conversation and the time flies until your flight. This is an indication of a great airport bar and restaurant.
