Great service. Spicy Tonkatsu and Miso broths were very flavorful. The dipping sauce is addicting. AYCE menu is totally worth it. I’ll be back.

Shabu restaurants are a dime a dozen in San Francisco. Most, if not all, are more or less the same; spicy miso or ginger chicken soup base, slices of beef, lamb, or pork, bowls of veggies(napa cabbage, spinach, carrots, tofu), udon, and sesame/ponzu sauce to go with the meal. Shabu club, however, has their own unique sauce and soup base. They offer tonkatsu, spicy tonkatsu, kimchi and spicy kimchi(which most shabu places don’t have) and I thought that was pretty unique. This place also offers different appetizers(like the kobe beef fries!). I definitely recommend sharing this if you’re here! Overall, I had a great experience here. The quality of the meat was great, the soup base was delicious(we had spicy tonkatsu) and the kobe beef fries were excellent. Total came out to about ~$ 65 after tax and tip(2 large beefs and kobe beef fries) which isn’t too bad for dinner. I will definitely be back! PS: ask for the habanero sauce if you want to add a kick to your sauce(it is an extra $ 1)

All you can eat shabu for $ 32 per person and it was excellent!($ 43 if you want all you can drink beer and sake added) We chose two broths, spicy tonkatsu and spicy miso, and they were equally delicious. Neither were overly salty so I think they don’t use MSG. The three meat options were beef, pork, and lamb but I mostly stuck to the beef and lamb because I like my meat rare. The beef was my favorite but both were well marbled and flavorful. Service was quick and they brought couple plates at a time, stacked, so it felt like we never ran out of meat. The red bean ice cream cone at the end was a perfect palate cleanser and nice way to end a great meal.

My go to places for Shabu just got bigger… Shabu Club! When I crave for some shabu, The Shabu House is at the top of my list, great food and on point. When I crave for some appetizers with my Shabu, Zabu Zabu is what comes to mind Now, if I want to go for an eat all you can type of Shabu, Shabu Club is the place to go. Didn’t have a wait to get sitted All of the above mentioned Shabu place do offer eat all you can options but what makes Shabu Club stand out is their quickness and proactive was if you want more meat, condiments or anything else. At Shabu House, it would feel that they’re purposely trying to delay in giving you more meat. At Zabu Zabu, same thing. Shabu Club has pretty good meat with an extra dipping sauce that isn’t found at the other two Shabu places. The sauce reminds me of chimichurri that has an acid and cilantro in it. They also have the traditional ponzu and goma(sesame sauce). My only gripe is that there were a few bones in the beef. It didn’t bother me as much as it did my friends so I had to mention it to our server. I told her as an FYI and she quickly rebutted that it’s cartilage. I’m like what a cartilage? Isn’t that soft BONE? Bone is bone, just take ownership and don’t do it again. Lol instead she gone defensive and dismissed my comment. Oh well, you lost a star because of that…

If you’re looking for a place where you get an interactive dining experience, this is an amazing place to try! Tucked in a small street in San Francisco, this little gem truly has what it takes to warm up your soul on a cold day. It’s not too big but holds a lot of tables from many parties and they were even able to accommodate our party of 13! Upon walking inside, it is humid and it does get warm as you eat. The menu is pretty simple and self explanatory. Only downfall is if one person from your group orders AYCE(all you can eat), the whole group has to do it– I get why they do that and they want to make sure everyone pays for their meals. I think the basic AYCE was 32.99 which comes with your choice of 3 or 4 different types of meats and your bowl of endless veggies and noodles and udons. The soup choices were pretty delicious as well! My cousin and I shared a pot and we got the regular miso and the spicy tanko… Something, I’m so horrible with names but it was basically a bone broth that was cooked until the soup was nice and creamy, when I looked it up on google, it said the soup was similar to the ones used in Japanese ramen(not the instant ones, FYI). The broths were SOFLAVORFUL! You think oh, it’s just miso, probably flavorless but it was so delicious! Trust me that my favorite was the spicy tanko something as the broth was rich in flavor, creamy and savory! My least favorite meat that was available was the lamb. I felt like it was too gamey and once we put the lamb in, it altered the taste of the broths a little bit and made the broths taste gamey too. at the end of your meal, you’re provided with an ice cream cone of either green tea or vanilla. Perfect ending to a perfect meal! Til next time, I will be awaiting more of their heavenly soups and meats.

I’ve only had shabu shabu twice, but this place was definitely better than my last. I love the dual broth pots! Spicy Tonkaktsu was super good. The Miso was tasty too. AYCE is the way to go. The meat quality tasted pretty good. You can order any kind you want(beef, pork, lamb) and you get a bowl of veggies/tofu and noodles(ramen and udon). It’s pretty toasty inside, I mean there are like 20 bowling pots of broth at an given time. Just an FYI, in case you tend to be a hot person — don’t wear a sweater. Beer, sake, and soda are included if you do the all you can drink.

Good first time here. Place has pretty much everything you need to get your Shabu on. I must admit that I thought our table for two was not going to fit all of our plates, but it did. They actually stack their meat plates on top of one another. Also, I hate when the meat cuts are too thick. This place has a thinner cut, and their Kobe beef was marbly. You get all of the usual veggies and noodles. They do have a special house ponzu sauce that I didn’t really use. You gotta ask for the goma and regular ponzu sauce, which was good. It’s $ 32 for the AYCE portion, which already includes the Kobe Beef. Most other shabu spots are extra for dat Kobe. They have TVs, happy hour from 5pm-6:30pm, and plenty of meats to make you fall asleep in your car afterwards :) Don’t forget your free ice cream cone(green tea or red bean) after you’re done. Can I be part of the club now?

This has quickly become my favorite hot pot place hands down! I’ve been here several times and I’ve only had bad service once. All the other times, the servers have been super attentive. You have the options of ordering normally, all you can eat, or AYCE and drink! So far I’ve tried most of the soups and I honestly love them all, but my favorite is the spicy tonkatsu! It’s the most flavorful and I can sip on it for days. I usually do the AYCE and drink. With that, they give you an assortment of veggies along with udon and egg noodles. I personally enjoy the udon more. You also get choices between kobe beef, lamb, and pork. I have only tried the beef and lamb. The meat quality is pretty good and never looks frozen. At the end of your meal, you can choose between red bean and green tea ice cream. Try the red bean!

Shabu club is a pleasant surprise! I came here for a belated birthday dinner with a friend and made reservations via the Unilocal app only to find that they were quite empty on a Tuesday at 6pm. Initial thoughts… tables looked really small and chairs didn’t look comfortable at all. These were both confirmed as we were seated. Outside of the small tables and uncomfortable chairs, the experience overall was pretty good. We decided to get the large lamb and large Kobe beef. Each large plate comes with 20 slices of meat which was more than enough for two people. We did a split pot(tonkatsu broth/spicy miso) which came out really good! Portion size overall was good and the meal also came with ice cream. Oh and their soju has real fruit! Can’t forget their house garlic cilantro ponzu which paired quite well with the meats. Overall, I’ll be back! Parking can be tough unless you get here a little before the meter ends around 5:30 — 5:45. :)

Great and clean interior restaurant with good food! I’m a regular at another Shabu house, but I came here tonight with my BF and some friends. My first thoughts of this restaurant is that it’s specious and has a very clean set up. Their menu has a very very decent variety of items to choose from. Their appetizers include calamari, gyoza, their delicious Kobe beef fries, as well as other things. The Kobe beef fries are a must! They have a good selection of broths too: miso, spicy miso, kimchi, spicy kimchi, tonkatsu and spicy tonkatsu. We ordered the American Kobe beef with spicy miso broth. When the beef came out it was beautifully marbled. I like the selection of veggies because it’s simple and not overwhelming. I also liked that they serve either your choice of udon noodles or ramen noodles. Their«secret sauce» was good, but I’ll always be a fan of regular ponzu sauce with some chili oil. Now for dessert, they have green tea or red bean ice cream. When they bring it out, it’s in a cone and not a bowl! Which I really enjoyed because it goes an extra step to add the icing on the cake after a delicious dinner! They also have a really wide variety of beers, sake, and wine as well. The servers were really attentive and frequently came by to ask if we needed anything, which was a plus. Not just our server, but 2 different servers kept checking on us. What made my first experience even better is that we didn’t have to wait! We walked in and automatically got seated at a table. I had a very good first experience at Shabu Club! From the cleanliness, the set up, the menu selections, the service, and the food! My BF said we may even come here more often than our other Shabu place: P If you haven’t tried Shabu Club, give it a try! Definitely worth a shot :)

Shabu Shabu! So many Shabu places on Clement but which one to choose?! Shabu Club is on the smaller side, so I wouldn’t recommend coming with a big party. They have a table near the entrance but it doesn’t accommodate too much. Similarly to what I get at Shabu House, the usual would be: Spicy Miso + American Kobe Beef. I actually prefer Shabu House over Club because of the Sesame Sauce. The one at House tastes a lot better while the Club is a tad too watery. However, Club has their own house special sauce which is nice. It reminds me of pesto! Another factor that sets Club and House apart would be drum roll please* the Kobe Fries. Oh my goodness, these are heaven sent. I highly recommend getting them! Always on point. C’mon, Kobe beef + fries?! Could life get any better? Yes it can because, a Shabu meal wouldn’t be complete without some ice cream! My only and main con would be the service. It takes awhile to get the check /get their attention. Please let me know if there are any other Shabu places in the city, I’d love to try! :)

The first time I tried this place I did not come back for months because there was no white rice ready so I had to enjoy(?) my meal without it. I am so glad I gave this place a second chance. It was my friend’s birthday and instead of the usual Shabu House or Shabuway we decided to come here. We split the pot with Spicy Miso and Spicy Kimchi broth. Both broths were both spicy and delicious but I favored the Spicy Kimchi, most likely because of the actual kimchi floating around in there. The first time I was here they did not let me know they had a sesame sauce, but this time our waitress did, so I guess you could say the service is not consistent. Anywho I was able to enjoy my meal with both the cilantro sauce and the sesame sauce, which I loved. For the price you get SOMUCH. The vegetables had the usual cabbage, enoki mushrooms, etc. but what I loved was the udon noodle, and they don’t skimp you on these like Shabu House does. I ordered the medium lamb and I could barely finish that. My friend and I came during happy hour so we got the Kobe beef fries which were awesome, especially because they were cheaper. Overall quality and amount of food = 10⁄10. Even after they give you ice cream with a CONE!!! Which I have never seen at a shabu restaurant ever. One of the only cons was the service, the waitress was not too friendly and barely came over to check in at our table. I wanted a window seat, and did not realize I would get mild heat stroke due to the setting sun, perhaps they could get darker shades for those areas. In addition, the table felt a bit cluttered at times, and the above-table heating plates seemed to take up a little more space.

Can’t join the Pacific-Union Club? Wait too long at the Bohemian Club? Well open up that soju and get ready to join the Shabu Club! Don’t think of this as a shabu place where you’d go for a quiet date night, like melting pot. Think of it like the Brazilian steakhouse of getting your night started. You’ll get a huge bowl of vegetables for your broth, several broth choices, tables next to you doing shots, dance music, and lots and lots of meat! Oh and noodles and tofu and an ice cream cone?! The pictures don’t lie. You really get a ton of food. Quality is above average. Is it OG shabuway? Not really. I like the shabuway sauces better. Is it fresher and more flavorful than anything in Seattle? 110% yes. San Francisco has a wealth of shabu riches. Grab 3+ friends and give this one a try. At least until the Olympic Club lets you into their swimming pool.

Came here a couple of times and when I came on a Friday night, it was super busy. Waited about 30 mins until we got seated. Service here really sucks when it’s busy. We didn’t receive all of our utensils(wire ladle, soup ladle, & mesh strainer) until we were almost done eating. They also usually give you a jug of water and we didn’t receive that in the beginning either. Food here is pretty good though. I remember trying a ramen burger here for the first time and it was really good especially with the dipping sauce they they provide with the shabu. I’m not sure if they still have the ramen burger on the menu but I remember that they only serve that on certain days. I definitely recommend getting the Kobe beef fries. It is delicious. The miso soup here is also really good and the spicy tonkotsu broth isn’t bad as well. I also like how they serve you ice cream for dessert. One thing that I do not understand is WTF is a sharing charge ?!? I do not remember being charged a $ 5 sharing fee the other times that I came. It was only me and my BF dining so do they expect us to each get our own pot? Of course we’re going to share! I just think that is ridiculous. Other than the service and a weird sharing fee, everything else was great. Next time I will go try Shabu House, which is not too far away.

I’m not a big fan of shabu or hot pot, but on days I do crave it, it’s gotta be Shabu Club. Without a doubt, this place serves the best shabu in the city. The set up of the restaurant is pretty nice and spacious. They have big flat screen TVs around the restaurant, which is a plus. It can get pretty loud in the restaurant when it’s busy(which is almost always). All the broths here are pretty good and flavorful. They even refill your pot with pure broth, that’s not watered down. I usually get the Tonkatsu(pork bone soup) and Spicy Tonkatsu broth. I always order a large plate of Kobe beef for my meal. The meat is always tender and cut super thin that it practically melts in your mouth. It comes with a vegetable bowl and your choice of udon or ramen. If you’re a fan of lamb, it’s really actually good here too. They make their own special sauce here that’s awesome. They offer ice cream at the end of the meal that’s served on a sugar cone. I’ve tried almost all their appetizers, and they’re actually pretty good. My favorites are the kobe beef fries and the tuna tartare. The service is pretty good. The waitresses always remember everything that you want, and check to see how you’re doing.

Oh man, one of the best AYCE shabu places I’ve been to thus far. The pot is split into two with flavored soups for differing favors. The meat is pretty good quality, the veggies were fresh, and the cilantro dipping sauce they have is to die for!!! Also, it comes with free ice cream at the end and how can you turn that down??? Clean place, clean bathroom, friendly staff, stars all around!

My go to whenever I crave shabu! I usually try to come early to catch the happy hour specials. The Kobe Beef fries are to die for and the soju cocktails are totally worth it for $ 6 a bottle. I usually get the American Kobe with the Spicy Tonkotsu and Spicy Kimchi soup base. The spicy tonkotsu is probably loaded with MSG but idgaf it is soooo good! The star of the show would be their house made green sauce. It goes great with everything! Don’t even bother asking for the ordinary ponzu and sesame sauce. You won’t be using it. At the end of the meal, the waitress will ask if you want green tea or red bean ice cream. I like to do a little bit of both to get the best of both worlds :) Be sure to come early as it gets packed once dinner time comes around.

There are so many choices of Shabu alone in San Francisco that you can imagine how competitive it is. I mainly judge by the broth and sauce because well… meat is just meat. My boyfriend and I came here the day after Christmas at 8:00 and it wasn’t too packed. The waitress gave us the menu which is pretty much like any other Shabu place. You either choose all you can eat(which was $ 32) and you could pick two broth. Or you could order the meat individually between the regular or large size. My boyfriend and I decided to order a large plate among ourselves. I got the Kobe Beef(which was $ 20.50) and my bf got the 2 meat combo($ 20.50). We picked the broth to be spicy miso and spicy tonkotsu. The individual plates comes with your normal veggies, udon or ramen. We also got a side of Kobe beef fries– which was pure heaven! A must get! I really liked the spicy tonkotsu broth. It was spicier than the miso which was odd. The waitress was very tentative and checked on us pretty often and kept refilling the broth with water. The house sauce that they give you is really good. I think it has garlic and cilantro in it. After your meal, you get a choice of either red bean ice cream or green tea ice cream WITH a cone! I personally prefer Shabu Club over Shabuway.

Hands down, the best shabu place I’ve ever been to. I’m always down to try new places but nothing ever compares to shabu club. The pricing is like most shabu places; $ 32 for AYCE as of October 2015. You can either order the AYCE or just by plates but it makes more sense to buy the AYCE& it’s cheaper that way as well. I always try to make a reservation so I won’t have to wait when we get there. It’s usually packed on weekends. The Kobe beef is the only meat I ever order from here & it’s delicious paired with either the miso or spicy tonkatsu broth. Their house special sauce is also one of a kind & great to dip in! It’s the one reason why I keep coming back as well. Other shabu restaurant sauces are never up to par. I ask love the free unlimited ice cream at the end . As for customer service, it really depends on who serves you & if it’s busy or not. I’ve received great service to shitty service where my party didn’t get our meats for like 15 minutes at a time. They usually give better service for big parties.

Hotpot two times in three days? If it’s for a friend, why not! Long story short, I was invited for a day of festivities but started the celebration as 1 of 15 people going to dinner. The party had already made a reservation and I must admit that our party was a little behind on time. While we waited for the other half to show up, we ordered in advance. To be honest, I had trouble navigating my way through the menu so let me give you some pointers. First of all, you pick the soup base(half and half allowed) that you will share with your table. Next is a big decision, you need to decide if you’re going to order AYCE(w/or w/o AYCD); okay, maybe it’s not that tough. Next is the most important part — the meat; basically it comes in Regular or Large size. I decided to go with the Kurobuta pork and i’d share the Kobe beef with the dude next to me. Such a good decision! Both meats were amazing and were plenty for one sitting. It also helps that the meal comes with a bowl of veges and noodles of your choice. In the end, the price was rather high because of all the drinks we bought, but that’s okay, the birthday girl can’t leave without a full belly and a buzz.
