Ordered a simple breakfast burrito with sausage, but I got back to my office and unwrapped a breakfast burrito with bacon. You can’t make those kind of mistakes during the commute hours.

THEYDONOTWEARGLOVESWHILEMAKINGFOOD!!! And the towels near them are soaked in bleach! My sandwich tasted like chemicals so gross. They refunded my money. Never going back. Bleh.

Great bagels, great lox, great cream cheese, all as stand alone products. It’s as if a pizzeria excelled in bread, sauce and cheese(which does not exist on this planet, don’t you freaking lie to me). Together it’s arguably the best lox and cheese bagel in SOMA. Coffee is solid, staff and owner friendly(been there for years).

Very slow, went in for a bagel it it took them about fifteen minutes to get it out. Bagel was so-so and had way too much cream cheese. You can do better almost anywhere else.

This is the best option in the FiDi for breakfast. Bagel prices and variety are great, service is friendly and quick, and — if you want to splurge — that fresh squeezed OJ is the real deal! I appreciate the variety of offerings and have never had a bad tasting snack. The salad bar looks very good, but it is just out of range for me for lunch. Walking to my office from the Transbay Terminal, however, this spot is a perfect stop in the morning.

Came by during lunch and order the triple decker club. Waited about 15 mins for my order, not bad at all. Sandwich itself wasn’t that amazing. It was actually too big to eat/had to cut it down to fit in my mouth. The avocado on the sandwich wasn’t rule at all, it was crispy. :-(Decent place but wouldn’t go out of my way to come again.

Lovely lunch option. Never crowded, filling, and you walk on tree-lined streets on the way there. Made my Monday lunch feel like a Sunday stroll. They didn’t have to but they made me an off-menu sandwich. Very affordable at 7.95 a sandwich. This might be my new go-to place.

A friend recommended this place, which is nicely tucked on the Howard and spear intersection. Grabbed a Chicken salad sandwich for lunch here. It was great and the size is humongous. Would love go back to try other sandwiches.

Never disappointed… I tried this time the mushroom Salad and OMG it was out of the world and could not leave without my favorite cheese steak, the best I ever had in my life :)

A very cute, very clean little café — an awesome place to grab a coffee, tea, pastry, or lunch. The salad bar looked incredibly fresh and had lots of options(including house-made hummus, falafel, slaw, tons of veggies and more). The interior space is good for getting some work done or for meeting up with colleagues or friends. And most importantly, it is MUCH less busy than the Starbucks nearby — so you can find a table!

Reasonably priced breakfast and lunch sandwiches which are pretty tasty. Sandwiches are fresh and the place has a count with all types of fixings. Definitely worth a try if your in the mood for a sandwich…

This place has great food and amazing workers who have been here for many years. I would go here more often, but the ordering process for sandwiches at lunch is SO frustrating. There is no logical line and they NEVER take your name. The problem is that 80% of orders are the Californian club or chicken supreme. People creep up when they are finishing sandwiches and the person finishing your sandwich is not always the same person who took your order. Even if it is, someone next to you probably ordered the same thing. Other customers give you a strange look. Just keep walking. Try to come back when it’s slow.

A so so deli shop located near the Embarcadero Bart stop. I got the eggs, bacon and toast plate for about $ 8. It came with a cup for coffee which was nice. The eggs weren’t that great. The scrambled eggs looked a bit too fluffy(consistency was not good). Their bacon was crunchy but looked microwaved. The fruit they had on the side was decent. Food was OK. Nothing special, don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

So nice to find another great sandwich shop near my office at Howard and Fremont. Sweet Joanna’s is tucked at the corner of Howard and Spear, in the old(and beautiful) Folger Coffee Building. They have a sandwich counter with all of the fresh ingredients, and a great salad bar with hummus, artichoke hearts, and the like. I’ve had the roasted eggplant on foccaia, which is fantastic. The soft and warm eggplant and cheese goes so well with the crunchy fresh bread. I love that all sandwiches comes with sprouts, and it’s just about as close to a perfect portion as you’re gonna find: filling but not over the top. I’ve also had the egg salad sandwich, which is great for hot days. They also have created a warm and cozy atmosphere for a block that often is dominated by bus noise and traffic with their tables, cushions, and outdoor seating. Sandwiches run from 6 to 8 dollars.

I have a mad hankering for Sweet Jo’s roasted eggplant sandwich. And I’ve never even tried the darn thing! Sweet Jo’s is great for their sandwiches. I’ve tried many from their Hot Pastrami to their Chicken Salad to the California Club. I like the toppings they offer and appreciate that my Dutch Crunch is always crunchy. Recently I’d been told by more than one person how amazing their roasted eggplant sandwich is, but every time I’ve ordered one, they’re sold out! We’ll see if this lives up to its hype if I ever get my hands on one.

Nice spot to grab a sammie or some salad. (+) Dutch crunch=solid! Crunchy yet doesn’t hurt the roof of my mouth. (+) orangina :) (+) doesn’t seem to get too packed during lunch hour, plenty of seating (+) friendly owner (-) chicken in my sammie tasted a bit dry + flavorless even with the pesto There’s two separate lines for ordering + paying. I think I’ll come back to try the highly acclaimed turkey :)

Come here early if you want to get the popular roast turkey sandwich. I’ve never had it, but that’s because I can’t come here without getting the chicken salad sandwich with Dutch crunch. SOGOOD! The soup here is self-serve and pricey for just average soup. I’d say stick to the sandwiches instead of the self-serve deli stuff. Also, if you can, try their dessert pastries, which I think often get overlooked; they’re located behind the pay counter. Tip: The way the lines work here is kind of confusing. There’s a line for ordering sandwiches, and there’s another line where, after ordering and receiving your delicious hand-prepped sandwich, you tell the guy what you ordered and pay for it.

I came here to Sweet Joanna’s because the Toaster Oven was closed. It was 8am and their door was still locked… I was hungry and was in a hurry to get to work. Whoever was supposed to open was behind schedule! I decided to go across the street and try their competitor, Sweet Joanna’s, and got myself the Napoli foccacia sandwich that came with egg, cheese, and avocado. The café is somewhat small with a handful of seats and offering espresso drinks and some especially fresh baked goods like muffins and cookies prominently displayed near the register. With so much competition nearby for breakfast and lunch business, I want to give business to the places that can get me what I want and send me on my way and I think Sweet Joanna’s deserves a thumbs-up just for the fact that they are friendly and serve a good breakfast sandwich.
