Expensive. But I’ll come here every day and spend my life savings if that cute blond Taylor is working.

Rita’s is still awesome! I love the ice and the custard is great with it. The only problem is that the custard isn’t consistent in texture sometimes. When they have the green apple ice, make sure you get the vanilla custard with it in a gelati and have the caramel drizzle on the top and bottom. It’s absolutely to die for! Their passion fruit ice is great for people like me who love those tart flavors instead of just the sweet. I did make a good combination that I wasn’t sure would work but if you add the Swedish fish ice with Alex’s Lemonade ice, they taste borderline fruit punch lemonade. I usually don’t go for the sugar free but I love the sugar free dragonfruit ice. It just hits the spot on a hot day. It’s a fun place to try different combinations and flavors.

I honestly can’t figure out why people like this place. Been here twice now and tried to like it and I just don’t. Way over priced too.

I actually prefer Rita’s Sandy location more than their other location mostly due to logistic reasons and they seem to have better restaurants in the surrounding too, especially when they are mainly about dessert. I never found their standalone ice appealing, and it was always the Gelati or Blendini that interested me. The flavor of the ice changes throughout the season, and I just want to see how they taste when combined with different flavors of custards. Punch card is absolutely easy here with just an app, but I guess the sad thing is that you can only punch once per day regardless of how many ice you purchased that day. The staff at this location had been friendly here, and the crowd sizes here were about the same as their other locations.

The vanilla custard is so creamy and smooth! We got the tropical island flavor with vanilla custard. It was really good!

For a sugar infused treat, this is your place! Slushies and ice cream together?! Yes please! I can tell Rita’s is a hot spot for families and dates. This particular location is a little small, seating is limited, and it’s been pretty crowded when I’ve gone. The kids tables and chairs are often dirty and sticky. I’ve seen the food truck out and about and will have to hit that up. I think getting it to go or even take it outside and sit on the trunk of your car is the way to go. Staying inside is too small and noisy.

Love this place! The combination of Italian ice and custard can’t be beat. I usually go for the mango Italian ice with vanilla custard.

My parents love this place, my wife and I will never go back. I got the thing with custard in the bottom then the ice then custard, not good. The custard just tastes like heavy whip cream the ice is good for two bites. My wife got the custard in a cone and wanted to throw away the custard. However the waffle cone was very good. I would much rather go to a real ice cream shop or have an icee. I didn’t like the mix.

Oh Rita’s…I truly believe you add crack to your ice. This place is so good. Get the Gelati. It has custard on the bottom, crack ice in the middle, and custard on top.

This Rita’s location is similar to the one in Midvale, but I was a little bummed by their smaller selection. I’m more into fruity flavors over rich and creamy ones and there was only two available. It was probably just an off day though. I didn’t like the tutti frutti so I went with the mango gelati and it hit the spot.

We’ve been to Rita’s all across the county and absolutely love their gelatis. Was excited to see them in Utah. However this place does gelatis different than everywhere else cause they only put custard on top where every other Rita’s I’ve been to puts it in he bottom and on top. This sounds like a little thing, but it definitely threw off the custard to ice balance, leaving too much ice at the end. Hopefully they change that soon!

The Blendini was a great twist(pun intended) on a milk shake. I was worried about the ice thing, but it works great. And my favorite part is that they definitely don’t skimp on the toppings /mix-ins. Chocolate peanut butter ice + vanilla custard + Reese’s topping = awesomely delicious! Pretty fair prices, decent sizes, somewhat clean building, and friendly staff. The 4 of us all agreed it’s a place we’ll go back to.

people have raved about this place so i was really excited to try it. i got the italian ice and custard together. i went with what they recommended(tropical ice and vanilla custard) and got a table outside ready to dig in. oh man what a disappointment. it was too sweet and didn’t taste tropical at all. after a few bites we gave up trying to enjoy it and just tossed it. other people may enjoy this place, but i don’t think my taste buds appreciated the sweetness.

Love the Italian ice here. I love that you can mix and match flavors. You never know what flavors you’ll find here because flavors change daily and sometimes even while waiting in line. Pear, green apple, and mango are my favorite. My wife loves the custard here and my son loves the milk shakes.

The best frozen delight ever! The textures of italian ice and custard together in the Gelati are to die for. The flavors were delicious. A ton of people were there, but you can’t blame ‘em for making something so good! For $ 3-$ 4 it’s not badly priced either.

I was contacted by Todd the owner of Rita’s in Utah, he was extremely apologetic about the the whole situation. I felt he was sincerely concerned and honest when he said they took measures of action to ensure this wouldn’t happen again. It’s very nice being a customer and knowing owners are concerned with the well being of their business, so thank you Todd for your concern and valuing our business. I’m still in a state of shock so I cannot say I’ll return anytime soon but I promise that won’t be my last visit. Flavor and customer service wise they are a 4 star establishement, I truly love the products that they have. Give me a few weeks and I know I’ll be back, for now it’s just a temporary goodbye, because after all who can resist a cold and satisfying italian ice on a hot summer day in Utah.

We ordered a cookies and cream blendini. Staff was very enthusiastic about telling how the ordering goes to any of the«newbies» aka US. The blendini was amazing as it was perfect for a hot Saturday afternoon. Blendini is where they just mix the custard and ice together to make a blended drink like a shake. Their frozen custard looked awesome as well. Definitely would come back here soon.

Rita’s is not the typical shaved ice place. They have a ton of ice flavors(which rotate) and a variety of custards. The combination of ice and custard is amazing. They have lot of options like ice layered with custard(gelati), ice and custard blended together(blendini), just custard, etc. They also have a free app which serves as a punchcard to get virtual punches and earn a free ice.

I’ve tried this place a couple of times now due to friends talking it up and I don’t think I’ll try it again because it’s just not for me. The shop is cute and has some seating, but is quite small. The staff is all really nice though and will let you sample any flavor of custard or Italian ice that your heart desires. I’ve tried several of the ice flavors(rootbeer, cake batter, mango, pineapple, tropical, etc.) and they taste pretty good and actually taste like the flavors they are supposed to taste like. The custard is also pretty good but they don’t have tons of flavors(chocolate, vanilla and orange were available). I first got a Gelati(layers of ice and custard) with rootbeer ice and vanilla custard. The texture difference between the ice and custard was just too much for me and I didn’t eat much of it. I then tried a Blendini(ice, custard, and one mix-in all mixed together) with cake batter ice, chocolate custard and sprinkles. I ate more of this option because the textures are blended together, but I still didn’t really care for it.

Lately, on the days that it has been getting warmer, or after I workout, I’ve been craving Rita’s. After my workout, sometimes, I’m craving something lighter than ice cream and this is when I want Italian Ice. You ask, what is Italian Ice? It’s similar to shaved ice, but the ice particles are finer. I also like it cause it doesn’t taste very syrupy like sometimes you get with shaved ice. With Rita’s, they have an abundance of flavors which changes regularly which could be good or bad because you might have a favorite and it’s not available that day, but it’s always nice to try something new. Here, you can add multiple flavor combinations to get a different flavor profiles or if you cant chose between a couple. Other times, I crave something a little creamier, and I opt for their custard. Their custard is perfectly smooth and creamy. I either get it as gelati or a blendini. A gelati is a sandwich of custard on the outside and Italian ice in the center while a blendini is similar to a milkshake, but it blends ice, custard, and a topping/mix-ins. At the moment, I like this Sandy location better than the Midvale location cause it’s not as crowded and there’s going to be a Freebird’s and a Habit burger within this plaza in the near future.
