Found what I needed and liked that it was located in this subterranean world of restaurants/food court options. Entrance is a little awkward and CVS itself is tucked into a corner, making it difficult to locate without consulting the directory or having prior knowledge of its location.

I stopped by this store to grab a few items during my lunch break. The store was clean but some of the items I was looking for were not stocked. I was greeted twice by the same employee after I arrived but she was nowhere to be found when I needed her assistance. When I went to purchase my items, I was confronted with the stores confusing and inefficient line system(as described by another reviewer) where the self check only line is adjacent to the cashier only line with one cashier to the left and another to the far right. Both lines moved painfully slow. If you’re in a hurry, I would not recommend this CVS.

This CVS is really depressing, to put it mildly! It’s located in the nether regions of that wonderful underground shopping mecca, L’Enfant Plaza La Promenade. Did I mention it’s hard to find because it’s partially hidden behind a partition? If I didn’t know how to look for this place, I’d have never known it was there. I guess it survives because it is somewhat convenient to those working at L’Enfant. Yeah they sell office supplies, OTC medications, candy, pop, newspapers, etc. But to tell you the truth, I’ve never ventured much beyond the cashiers. Heck, I couldn’t even tell you if they had a full pharmacy on the premises. What I do know is that, besides being dingy and depressing, the lines here move o-so s-l-o-w-l-y here, particularly at lunch time. It’s not like it’s set up for a quick checkout. For instance, the self checkout line is to the left of the cashier line, right in the middle of the store. But facing front, the cashiers are on the far left and far right, with the self-checkout being in the middle. Just a poorly laid out store.

I’m sure there’s a CVS in the city that is worthy of praise for its stellar customer service, neat and organized appearance and top-notch pharmaceutical care. I mean, I’VE never been to one – and this place is no exception – but I’m sure there’s one somewhere. There’s GOT to be! The CVS in L’Enfant Plaza suffers from the same ghettorish-ass symptoms(whether it’s in the ghetto or not) as most others I’ve had the displeasure of frequenting: clerks, and thus lines, that seem to move like a constipated bowel; self-checkout lanes that are either continually out-of-service or break down just as you try to pay for your goods; price-gouging that borderlines extortion; management that radiate glassy-eyed ambivalence to your concerns or existence in general. Never has this or any other CVS in which I’ve visited given me the feeling of «your friendly neighborhood drug store»; it actually feels more like being desperate and visiting your friendly neighborhood molester, begging him to have his way with you, «Raw! No spit, no lube, no nothing! Just stick it in! DOIT!!!» Why do we subject ourselves to places like this? Because it’s close; because they seem to have a monopoly on the convenient drug-store game; because we’re lazy… who knows? But the next time I enter these doors and step up to the counter I’m just gonna leave my wallet in my pocket, drop my trousers, bend over and spread my cheeks – after I provide my Extra Care card first, of course.

My manager: «So, the carpet cleaner guys are coming in after office hours… can you stay to let them in?» «Sure!» — says I(famous last words… er…word) Of course, it’s all fine and dandy — hopefully I will get home to see Glee on time, but otherwise, my only concern this afternoon was this: if I have to stay a few extra hours, but have only planned for working eight hours — I only have eight hours worth of healthy provisions in which to sustain myself… and working in L’Enfant, there is no shortage of UNhealthy and UNsavory options, but if I was hoping to avoid those… where was a girl to go? CVS to the rescue! This CVS in particular is a surprising one; mostly because it actually is the full-size of most CVS locations, but definitely doesn’t appear so from the outside… it’s crowded and kind of chaotic, but with the extra care card and a little patience, there are a few deals to be had. Oh, and there is a self-checkout. Side note: I didn’t end up buying anything because I am notoriously picky about snacks that aren’t planned to a tee; but that is a fault of my own.
