They were sold out of lighters and I saw some items for sale that were marked considerably higher than a nearby CVS. A combination lock cost $ 6.79 here, while a CVS a few blocks south was selling it for $ 5 and buy two get one free. Is price setting so arbitrary from one CVS to the next? What is the point of having a national brand name if there is zero uniformity between branches even in the same neighborhood? Not really earning my customer trust, CVS.

4⁄6 update: I emailed them through their website and they responded and a regional manager called me. So good on them for that — giving them another star.

A smaller more expensive CVS but convenient for forgotten items for today’s example: Orange juice

This poor CVS must be a Red-Headed Stepchild. It certainly isn’t getting any love from corporate. This store is tired. The atmosphere is blah. The equipment and condition of the store is very poor. The people are very nice. They shouldn’t be called a pharmacy, as there isn’t a pharmacist in the store. Huh? Seriously. No pharmacist. Go figure. HEYCVS!!! YOUNEED A MAKEOVERINTHISLOCATION!!! WAKEUP!

The only thing I like about this CVS store is its location. I think the vast majority of its sympathy cards needed to be stocked as the holders were empty. Also, I saw that the remaining cards were so gender specific and condition specific that it was hard to find an appropriate card. I think the supply chain can be better managed here with respect to the inventory levels. I was also concerned that the snack section was not worth writing home about. Most check stands are self service so please be prepared to interact with an NCR type cash register even if you are not a cashier by day.

This is a janky CVS. I don’t know how much there is to say about CVS. This isn’t a very good one. It’s small, and there is always some disruption when I’m there. Just go here when you need the convenience.

This is simply a rant. But in case CVS management cares enough to check Unilocal, here’s what’s badly wrong with this store: 1) Prices are frequently wrong. I.e., Item is on sale, but sticker price is reflects non-sale price(would it be possible for store staff to update prices to reflect sales rather than forcing customers to rely on the adds in the weekly CVS circular)? 2) Other non-sale items frequently carry the wrong price. Was the box of Claritin I bought this morning supposed to be $ 27 or $ 14?(Cash register said $ 27, clerk agreed it was $ 14.) 3) Check-out lines can take up to 10 minutes during busy times.(Perhaps the lines would be faster if customers didn’t have to waste their time haggling over incorrectly priced items.) And don’t try to save time using the self-checkout machines, which always break. 4) Store is dirty, and generally feels grim. I will keep coming here, only because its the only drug store within walking distance of my office.(No doubt, CVS is well-aware of that.) Walgreens, there’s an opening for you here!

Well it’s a chain drugstore, what do you expect? I do stop in from time to time to grab things on sale. I really do like their annual planners to help keep myself organized. I did find out recently, however, that they plan to discontinue their line of organizers as they aren’t deemed profitable enough. Bummer. The staff always seem to be in short supply. But there is never a shortage of people in line to check out. They do have a self-check option, but one of the machines is periodically broken — just causing the line to get even longer. I think it just stays in business because it is in an area saturated with a ton of 9 – 5 federal government agencies that just need a quick thing here or there and don’t need to go to the Safeway down the street near the waterfront. I can only imagine that it clears out circa 5pm when everyone goes home. Like I said, nothing to write home about. It is a convenient location and it serves its purpose. Thanks, CVS.

Lord Jesus! What a dismal place! Unilocal needs to have minus stars to evaluate this locale. Lunch time rush hour, one employee at the register, checkout line longer than a Beanie Baby line at Toys R’us on Christmas Eve 1993. Another employee stocking shelves, totally oblivious to the world around him including the growing customer line. Seriously, he had his headset on and reggae music so loud you could overhear over the headsets from two aisles away. Both self-service registers out of order and no one cared. Someone needs to turn this sorry store into God knows what, but a CVS ain’t cutting it. You REALLY have to work at it to be THIS bad…

There are always like 20 people in line and one person at the register. The store is a mess and not well stocked.

A CVS, eh? We’ll see… Woefully unkempt floor and shelves? Check. Surly, slow, and marginally-awake clerks? Check. Ratio of customers-in-line to cashiers floating around 10:1? Check. Yep, it’s a CVS alright.
