I live in town and we have 3 awesome breakfast places. Each is different and we enjoy visiting. Lou Roc’s is famous for great food and huge portions. Cozy and creative would be my description of Country Kettle. Jake’s is a model of consistently friendly and efficient service. They define teamwork. It translates into your food arriving hot and more time in your day. When we have things to do we come here. Better than fast food and nearly as quick even though it’s full service. Chef Ramses would definitely like this place. Come here if you want a really good breakfast while preserving your schedule. Home fries are a little bland, coffee is excellent, eggs are always done right, homemade hash is very good. I’d give this place 4 stars but note that the average on Unilocal has been skewed unfairly. So I’m giving it 5. This place is a solid 4.

My favorite breakfast place in Worcester! I used to live in the area and ate here almost every weekend. I live farther away now but I make the trip out because it’s always worth it. I know a lot of people are crazy about Lou rocs, which is right down the street, but Jakes is just as good, if not better. I also prefer the atmosphere better, staff is always on top of everything and are really nice. On the weekends you sometimes have to wait a few minutes when they are busy but it’s nothing like the line at Lou rocs which is usually halfway through their parking lot. Did I mention how good the food is?! It never dissapoints and the prices are great! I love this local diner and will continue to recommend it.

Service was fast, got the spinach, onion and mushroom omelet, big portion, but the onions were raw and mushrooms were from a can. Homefries needed salt and pepper. I don’t understand why most breakfast establishments don’t think they need to add spices as simple as salt and pepper to anything they put out. Just ok.

On the weekend when you can’t get into Lou Rocs or Jans Kitchen, head down West Boylston street a little further and Jakes is just before the light. The place isn’t fancy but the coffee and breakfast are awesome. No frills and no bs, just good eggs, toast, bacon and home fries. Blueberry pancakes are tasty as well. Prices are very good and service is fast.

Had a bacon egg n cheese bagel which was good and homefries which I didn’t really care for. Although, together they only came out to be about $ 5 so I can’t complain that much! I’d eat here again.

Mediocre at best. Really. The food has no flavor(it’s okay to use spices!), coffee stinks, layout of the place stinks as well. EXCELLENT service! Friendly and efficient. Now, if only the food was on point…

Compared to Lou Rocs this place was ok. I had a Spanish omelette with a bagel/cream cheese. How can you F that up right? Well my biggest pet peeve in life are onions and bell peppers that are not pan fried and they managed to place both in my omelette that were essentially stale/uncooked totally ruined my breakfast. There was nothing«Spanish» about my omelette other than the name on the menu. Maybe I’m being picky but seriously how do you mess up breakfast . The good: The place Is homie. Mall. Neighborly type Ambiance .the wait wasn’t too long and servers seemed friendly .Im not sure ill come back here but my first impression of the food was just. Ok

I’ve been here once and was served cold homefries and never went back. But on the weekend the parking lot it packed and the line goes out the door. I’ve been meaning to get back there to give it a second chance, but haven’t had the opportunity.

This place is just the ticket if you are looking for a great breakfast, quick with no frills. There is nothing fancy about this place at all but it is clean, the food is great and the service is efficient and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. We visit almost every Saturday morning. The hash is very good(maybe not for your waistline). The bread they use for toasting is from Widdoff’s in Worcester with the best marble rye and raisin bread I’ve had in a while.

My coffee was always full and hot. I didn’t have to ask. Service was friendly and the food came out fast. Also, the prices were pretty cheap. $ 5.25 for an omelette? Yes please. That said, I talked to a server twice. One to take my order(after I sat there ignored for a while) and once to to take my check(for like a second). My change came in whole dollars, they didn’t bother to charge me tax and nobody ever stopped to ask if I needed anything, which I did, but I couldn’t garner any attention so I shrugged and went without. The food itself was really bland. I don’t know how you can make a ham and cheddar omelette come out bland but it just was, as were the homefries. They were reddish in color which made them look like they were wonderfully seasoned but they were not. I used inordinate amounts of salt and pepper to power through my meal. For diner coffee, the coffee was okay, though. I’ve certainly has worse. It wasn’t burnt and, like I said, remained full and hot. Still, if you’re light in the wallet and looking for a hot meal that’s not fast food, Jake’s is your place. Note: CASHONLY

There are reasons why breakfasts places are too packed and we don’t want to wait in line in the cold. So that we can try new places! I’m so glad we were able to try out Jake’s. I’ve been wanting to get here for at least a year! After a night of debauchery, a hearty breakfast was much needed and Jake’s fit the bill. Great coffee, great service and cute décor. We ordered up… John ordered the kielbasa omelet that came with toast and home fries for $ 4.50. I ordered 2+2+2 which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage and 2 pancakes or french toast for $ 3.75. I originally ordered 2 french toast and bacon but what I got was 2 pancakes and bacon. They were very apologetic and they were going to make me french toast but I was starving for carbs and said nonono it’s ok! I’ll eat them! They were flavorful, fluffy and filling. All that for $ 13 and that’s including tax!!! This is my new place for breakfast! Right down the street from me and felt homey and comfortable. I’ll be back again and again and again!

The service was fantastic. Stopped here for the first time this morning. We were greeted before we finished entering the building. We sat down in within a minute someone was over to offer us a beverage and take our order. I chose to have an onion, bacon and American cheese omelet, It tasted great and was plenty hefty. It was only about $ 5.50 with home fries and toast. Plenty of parking around the building and surprisingly, plenty of seating inside. Definitely worth a visit.

This place is great. I ate there yesterday and it is very good, very clean, and the staff is very friendly… They are quick getting you your food and the food there is super cheap. I think the total bill for me and my girlfriend was 11 bucks and that included 2 big breakfast meals. will deffinitly go again.

I always get the 2, 2, 2 special Coffee 2 eggs, any style 2 pieces of meat 2 pancakes or french toast … usually blueberry pancakes. Yum All for like 3.95. I’d say you can’t beat it, but there’s also Lou Roc’s and Gold Star which are comparable. All are amazing, all come highly recommended.

Lou Roc’s an Jake’s are the two places in my family people compete to go for breakfast. There are few reasons I do like Jake’s more first of all, it has a very New England blue-collar feel. I think the breakfasts are delicious, I’ve never had lunch there. And it’s so cheap. I don’t understand why anyone would go to iHop when you can go to a place like this, thats half the price and even better? An omlette with toast, and homefries is like 5.50.
