The best in the area. Been a customer since the beginning so it’s great seeing some traction. The staff is experienced and top notch, and Tommy the head sushi chef is deserving of his post. Really never had a bad item at Kai but some highlights are the Mai Tais, green tea, tuna tataki, Red Sox roll, Teppanaki Filet, Hotate nigiri, house salad and especially the ginger wasabi dressing, and their hand rolls.

I have been going to Kai’s sister restaurant kaizen in Sturbridge for years. I was so excited when I found out this existed in Worcester since I now live in the city. This place is a hidden gem in a cruddy plaza. Amazing food and cheap sushi specials during lunch!

I live kai and kaizen. The best sushi I’ve ever had. In fact I don’t get sushi elsewhere anymore because I’m only dissappointed. I love the variety of options, there is something for everyone and all the unique flavor combinations are executed very well. Aside from sushi the regular menu is also fabulous and I have never been disappointed. I have never sat down at this location though, I always get take out but the service is always good there.

We were looking forward to a nice meal here after reading all the good reviews. However, after sitting for 20 minutes no one came to take our order. The waiter walked by our table several times and just ignored us. Disappointing.

The food was good. The location was random, but I’d return if I’m ever in the area. My cousin recently took me here for an early birthday dinner. The restaurant was a little small. They had a waitress and a hostess on staff. The hostess was doing a lot, I felt like they needed more staff. They were all nice though.
We started with the gyoza and two rolls of sushi. The gyoza was mediocre. The spicy salmon was eh, but my favorite was the Volcano roll. The chicken katsu was good. I didn’t eat much of it. My cousin got the shrimp fried rice, and said it was really salty. I didn’t personally try it. We barely finished our food, and brought home a lot of it.
The place is great place to get sushi if you’re ever in the Worcester area.

I was always thrown off by the location, but after two amazing visits this is my new favorite place to grab dinner after a hard day. The Bul Goki roll and Blushing Geisha are unreal. Light fluffy tempura, crispy velvety agedashidofu, super fresh sashimi. I’ve never had a single thing there I didn’t love. The drinks are perfectly mixed and lovely. The waitstaff is polite and attentive. Not enough good things to say about this place!

Hidden gem in a strip mall. The atmosphere is just ok but the sushi is excellent (if you’re vegetarian the Lucky Roll is amazing) and the make the biggest martinis around– excellent Mai tais, too!

Best sushi bar I’ve ever been to! Trust me I’ve tried all the other sushi bars in Worcester. Even when comparing Boston sushi to kai sushi bar I say kai trumps all!!!

Excellent food and service! The steak was my choice and it was better then any I’ve had a steakhouse. My friend loved her sushi and I was tempted to try it because it was so pretty on the plate. This is a neighborhood gem! I highly recommend it

Okay let me start by saying that the food here is good. The service is what kills it. I was there once and told the server of a shellfish allergy. She assured me none of the food I ordered had any in it. Then I get the sushi to find crab in one roll.
Then I was there the other day and wanted some quick take out. The hostess sat me at the bar where I had to ask for a drink whike I waited. I asked for an irish coffee decaf, they told me they had no decaf on. When i said regular would be okay then, the bartender said it would be a few minutes; she would have to brew some. Could she not have brewed me the decaf as easily? The whiskey, milk and coffee all came in three seperate containers. To top it off although she knew I was waiting for take out, I was presented with two seperate checks. I have worked in food service and this kind of work is way below par.
Won’t be returning anytime soon, I am sad to say. I’ll stick to Baba.

I have been coming to Kai since they have opened-​though my visits are sparse since moving to another state. I crave Kai constantly and it’s a must go to place when I visit home. I’m constantly pleased with the sushi, drinks, desserts and appetizers-​try the Red Sox roll, and the sexy roll. I also had an amazing Gekkeikan Sake martini on my last visit. Green tea Ice cream is necessary. The service is great, and I always have the same server who has been there since the beginning. Don’t know her name but she is always so fabulous. Sure, Baba is phenomenal, but Kai is playing the same game with better prices.

We’ve tried, many times to see why this place has such a great star rating.
We just don’t see it. The past 3 times we’ve had take out, there were issues with the freshness of the fish.
For the most part, it’s ok. Nothing stands out. But, we have given this place it’s 3rd strike. Tonight, a couple of the items we ordered just were not fresh. Plus, they completely got our order wrong, even after my husband confirmed the order.

I am a frequent visitor at Asian
cuisine restaurants, but hadn’t tried Kai until my parents brought me there! I was delighted with the waitress and her calm demeanor. she clearly knew what she was doing. I had the shrimp tempura roll with crab meat on top and it was delicious. My mom who is picky even said her meal was EXCELLENT, which is a rarity for her to say. My meal was the chicken teriyaki, vegetables were lacking… but it’s not enough to lose a star. maybe just offer something instead of veggies.
