THEWORSTCLUBINBELFAST!!! Staff are horrible! Security were a disgrace and very violent toward many people, people were grabbed and thrown out for no reason I saw this happen to many people. Trying to talk to any member to staff is impossible as they think they are much better than anyone who is in the club. Head security was very rude and is a walking criminal a-fence. Disgusting attitude and me and a lot of people that I was there with will not be going and I recommend never to go.

The Box or the Baaaaxx as my friends and I call it is always an interesting night out, I say interesting because with the promotions and drink offers they regularly have on you may struggle to remember it so it is best to describe it as interesting. I feel that some of the other reviews of the Box have been a little harsh, it is what it is and If you take it with a pinch of salt and go there with the right company then you are bound to have a good night. The Box is the classier of the two clubs in the Odyssey Arena but being that most of the Beach Club’s clientele have more gold on than Mr. T that isn’t saying much. What I am trying to say is that you will get a decent crowd in The Box, but I wouldn’t go around making to much eye contact. As other reviewers have said it is sort of for that 17– 22 year old bracket but if you want a bit of harmless fun and games then I would certainly not avoid the Box. One word of advice though is that if you are going to The Box then book your return Taxi in advance as it is an absolute nightmare trying to get a taxi outside.

The Box rocks, if you’re into that kind of thing… In its beginning it wowed the masses with its new, shiny exterior, bulk bouncers and very own in-club camper van. But now, it’s looking a little more questionable. Saying that, Wednesday’s prove popular as marketing has it campaigned as the biggest student night in Belfast. Box beats range from r’n’b classics, pop power tracks and dance floor fillers. The weekend club nights see a ‘WAG’ like personnel, which might not be to everyone’s taste… but if you’re with the right crowd and just enjoy a good boogie it could prove to be a new favourite spot. Drinks are served in glass tumblers so be careful if exposing those little toes as it could result in a wait at the first aid station. Another negative waits at the end of the night as the scrabble for taxis begin. Before you head make sure you have pre-ordered your taxi as jumping into a ‘black’ taxi may cost you a small fortune.

Ah the box, home of the underage and highly pretentious. It’s here they come in their droves to show off their latest fashions, shortest skirts and fake tans. This place is hugely popular with school kids and students(avoid on a Thursday if this isn’t your scene.) The venue itself is actually pretty nice and of the nights I’ve been dragged here it hasn’t been half bad, more due to the crown of friends I’ve been with. The struggle at the bar would put you off drinking or make you fire 5 Morgans into a pint glass with coke to save coming back. Needless to say, a night at the box does get messy! If you’re over 23… then you’re probably over the box. But for those who like all it has to offer you should have a good night! Oh, the best part for me is the kebabs on offer at the end of the night from the Indian restaurant also located in the Oddessey… mmmm.

Before I start to give this place a bit of a hard time I will start off in a diplomatic tone and say that this place is not my scene to pay the least. The box is one of the most busy nightclubs in Belfast, and you can see why it appeals to its target market: it has cheap drink inside, loud popular dance/rnb music and has the VIP section to appeal to the meglomaniacs around town! But the core market it where this place falls down. If you are a girl with a tan like you have been caught in an unfortunate accident at the Ronseal factory, or you are a sleaze of a make with a penchant for applying aftershave by the gallon and wearing tight tshirts with more sparkle than what even a girl would wear, you are in luck! It is indeed a very young crowd, with its fair share of underage chancers! The layout is nice and comfortable at least, but you can never chat in here! Then again, that isn’t what the people here are wanting, they just want cheap drink, promiscuous punters and loud generic music, and for those type of people, you will love the box!

I have to be honest here, I’ve only been to Box once, on its opening night. I remember it being a really fun night, but I couldn’t have seen myself rushing to go back. I haven’t, but it’s still doing well and, despite it not being my thing, I can sort of see why. Like its neighbour the Beach Club, Box attracts a younger crowd. I don’t think it’s quite as young as the Beach Club, but if you’re passed university age, it’s probably not for you. There are plenty of drinks offers available, which keeps the cost down, the door cover isn’t extortionate(the most expensive admission price is £5) a few different bars within the place, VIP rooms and multiple DJs per night playing different music. Maybe I’d go more if it was in a better location. The Odyssey has never properly taken off as a destination for clubbers because it’s so far away from everything. Basically, if you’re there, you’re there for the night!

The Box is one of two main clubs within the Odyssey complex. Both it and the Beach Club are hugely popular clubs and will be full by the end of the night without fail(just like the clientele…) What I would say in defence of this place is that it is a proper club with two floors, a smattering of bars, a little VIP area which I walked into by accident(apparently Gary Barlow was there once but as much as I tried, I couldn’t see him), a host of seats and tables, as well as a hippie van downstairs in case regular seats just aren’t good enough. The offers are very good, with £2 a drink kind of encouraging you to drink too much… and you do! Complete with DJ’s and people wearing not too much clothing, the Box is a proper club experience. … Now for the negatives. If you want to have a chat and a drink, do not go to the Box. It is for dancing and drinking. You can chat on the taxi home. Only go if you want to spend hours in a club. Some people love it. Some people really don’t. The biggest negative is it’s positioning in the Odyssey(which in fairness it can’t do much about) means that it can only be accessed by taxis. There is no chance you can walk home Therefore when leaving you have to pre-book your taxi because the chances of leaving when the lights come on and getting a taxi is pretty small. If you can excuse the expensive taxis, the £5 door tax and the sore feet in the morning, it’s a great night all round.

The Box is an ideal night out with friends but provides you with nothing different. Has 2 floors and a small VIP area(full of non VIPs) and plays the typical music popular at the time. Drinks promos are good on a wed with double vodka redull £4 and their signature cocktails(fruitboxes) priced at £2. Its like marmite but in my opinion is over rated with the hype it receives. Also most definitly need to get a taxi there as is nowhere near city centre from which it will cost around £5.

One of two popular nightclubs in the Odyssey, the Box had over 5000 clubbers visit its doors each week. There are two floors, each of which plays slightly different tastes of music, depending on the night. The Box is open Wednesday to Monday, with different nights meaning different themes. For example, Wednesdays in the Box is BOXROX, where more rock and indie music is played. Thursdays in the Box is Student Night, where a lot of drinks are £2. Upstairs, there is also a VIP area, and often enough there is usually a celebrity gracing the area! The Box is a good night out, and is more Upmarket than its rival the Beach Club. However, I despise dancing on the dancefloor, because it is always littered in large clumps of shattered glass from people dropping their drinks, and they always get stuck in the bottom of my shoes! Very irritating. However, all in all, it’s a pretty reliable night out.
