Walking into this place did feel very much like an American diner — it’s really similar to Johnny Rocket’s, in fact. Ed’s is known for their large gluten free menu, and the lovely Nicola H had just recommended it to me recently. I popped in for an early lunch this week. The gluten free menu included burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes and desserts — a nice range to choose from. Sadly, no onion rings. I ordered a burger and a side of cheese fries. The burger was good — nothing amazing, though the bun was pretty respectable, if a little too covered in sesame seeds. The cheese fries weren’t my favourite, as the cheese sauce was really reminiscent of this product we have in America — it’s nacho cheese that comes in a massive tin can. Just not really good stuff, though I added salt and a little mayo and made it tolerable. My biggest complaint about Ed’s is, again, the pricing. I spent just under 11 quid for a burger and cheese fries, no drink. For that much I can get a much better(and bigger) burger elsewhere. I think if my meal had come in around 8 quid I’d have felt better about it. The nice thing about Ed’s is that it’s a chain, so it’s a solid gluten free option across the UK — great to know when you’re traveling.

My friend and I decided to go to Ed’s for lunch yesterday. They are trialing some new lunchtime offers so I was keen to find out more! I love the 1950’s vibe and in all honesty, the only thing that is missing is roller skates. It wasn’t that busy and we were seated immediately. I ordered a coke and the chilli hotdog lunch basket(which was £7.95). The other options were: a burger, chicken dijon tortilla wrap, chilli bowl, classic hot dog, chicken caesar wrap — all served with fries, all coming in a lunch basket. They were priced between £6.95 and £7.95. The hot dog was good. I’d never had a chilli dog before but it was tasty. The real downfall was the chips; they didn’t taste fresh and more like they had been reheated. Really dissapointing. I was asked to fill in a commrnts card about whst I thought of their lunch deals and if the chips had been better, I do think it’s pretty good value for money. I should mention that you get the option to ‘add on’ a drink to your lunch menu for £1.95 but this is not refillable. If you want refillable, it’s in the £3.00 region. It wouldn’t be my first choice for lunch but I will be back at some point to try a milkshake! They looked amazing!

Really cute vibe, we popped in here after shopping because it was hammering down with rain outside! We were seated at a booth at the window, complete with a jukebox! It’s 20p a play and it was fun looking through all the old school songs. We went for The Shirelles, obviously. It afforded us much more entertainment than it should have, and we might have had a wee sing song or two! Also all the money from the jukebox goes to Action for Hunger which is a really nice touch so give it a spin! I went for the chicken Acapulco burger and we decided to share sides of fries and onion rings as our server told us the ‘Ed’s plate’ is a loooooooot of food. It’s also worth mentioning that they have a great drinks menu of milkshakes, floats and things like root beer and cherry Coke. Free refills on things like Diet Coke, Fanta etc but not on cherry coke or root beer. The burger was lovely and fresh, plenty of chicken and guacamole and the salsa gave it a nice kick. The onion rings were hot and crispy, and the chips were lovely but nothing particularly special. Also had a bit of the classic hotdog which was really tasty and the chicken dippers were nice, the crumb was tasty and the BBQ sauce was really yummy! Overall we really enjoyed lunch, it was hot, fresh and full of flavour, and the servers were really attentive and friendly! Will definitely come back!

I’m on my third trip to Ed’s by now, and I have to say… I am having a serious food-crush on Ed’s these days. The main attraction for me? Grown-up milkshakes! That is to say they contain alcohol. Delicious! Though their regular milkshakes are tasty as well. Banana peanut-butter is tantalisingly tasty. And you are not limited to those on the menu! You can combine flavours, and ask for different alcoholic additions if you please. And they are soooo big!!! The last time I paid a visit, I had the Big Bubba burger — a beef burger with sweet-cured bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle, and Ed’s Diner Sauce — but having learned my lesson from previous visits, I didn’t add the Ed’s Plate. It is simply too large for one person. So my mum got the Ed’s plate and we split it. Even at that, we were both so full that we adopted a waddle on the way out the door. I have to say, I love how the proceeds from the jukeboxes and some from the Burger of the Month go to charity. My mum loved the table’s jukebox so much that she just kept popping cash in there to control the air-waves, and I’m sure she wasn’t the the only one. It’s a great idea, and a nice touch. I dare say it won’t be long until I’m sitting in one of their booths again. Aside from my mum being very keen to show the place off to my aunt, the milkshakes will tempt me before long!

I’m currently on a gluten free diet in the name of Science(it’s only temporary, phew!). Getting bored of making salads etc I really fancied a burger, like really really! Feeling it wouldn’t be the same without a bun, I was going to have to quieten that urge. Then I remembered reading on Unilocal that Ed’s had a gluten free menu — and one of the lovely Unilocalers below had said that the gluten free bun was actually a bit of alright. Therefore on a Sunday afternoon I headed for my gluten free Ed’s. The menu was extensive — most of the items on the normal menu featured on the gluten free. Bar things like onion rings, oreo milkshakes etc. Ed’s has been accredited by Coeliac UK for it’s efforts to create completely gluten free food — and props to them for doing so! As you may be aware being gluten free doesn’t simply mean avoiding food with gluten in — it’s also avoiding any kind of cross contamination. Ed’s therefore stores all gluten products and non gluten products separately, prepares foods in different areas etc. I have too say that as far as gluten free things go, this was heaven! It tasted delicious, not lacking anything — well minus the onion rings that I couldn’t have :-( The gluten free bun was a cracking effort! If you didn’t know if was free from, I honestly don’t think you could tell. Granted it was slightly bouncy, tad bit spongey, but far better than most other gluten free bread options. It made me happy haha! To finish off my other half and I shared a milkshake. We ummmed and aghhhed about whether coffee and butterscotch would go together. ITDOES. ITREALLYDOES. If you’re passing by you need to stop in for this combo. It tasted soooo naughty, it was delicious! Ed’s I’m a fan. Thanks for being gluten free! :-)

Was out with my step-sister and niece to see the Christmas lights/go for a wee shop and we ended up here for food. Firstly — the staff could not have been more accommodating to us. We had a slightly hyper 1.5 year old with us and our server was so good with her, got down on the floor to chat to her — lovely to see & made us feel really welcome. The menu was great, if slightly pricey, but a really good variety of burgers, chicken, hot dogs etc. Food arrived really quickly & served with a smile. I had«the original chicken burger» as an Ed’s plate, but upgraded to sweet potato fries — highly recommend paying the extra £1.50 for these! So good! Onion rings were also really crispy and nice. Definitely worth a try if you’re in St Enoch’s centre and fancy something a bit nicer than the food court options, and a bit more variety than Nandos!

Ive heard so many reviews about how cool ed’s is and there amazing gluten free menu that i couldnt wait to finally try it. I love the whole retro theme behind the diner it really feels like you have been taken back to the 60’s. All that is missing is the waitresses on rollor skates! The gluten free menu is huge! 2 sides of menu to chose from with a brownie for dessert that sounded lovely.. i was too stuffed from lunch to try it. I opted for thr classic burger with american cheese with a side of cheese fries. The gluten free bun is honestly the best i have tried … it was so good i was worried for a moment i was eating a real one! The cheese fries were lovely too and a decent sized portion. The drinks are refillable too. I love that at each table you can select tunes frim the jukebox for 20p. I loved it so much that i cant wait to go back!

Been to this Ed’s a couple of times now and its a great wee place. Good food, huge portions and milkshakes to die for! The most recent visit was for dinner and yet again a mahoosive milkshake. Walked in and we were promptly seated and asked for drinks, this time i went fo a vanilla and butterscotch milkshake. They have their own ideas on the menu but you can mix and match any 2 flavours you like(last time was peanut butter and butterscotch!) which is handy to know. For the food i ordered a chilli burger and the atomic fries which are normal fries with With jalapeño jelly, chilli, sour cream, Cheddar cheese sauce and guacamole on the side. Contrary to my own belief the jalapeño jelly wasnt spicy it was quite sweet. the burger was well cooked, tasty and the added chilli was ok but not spicy enough for me. The fries were delicious and crispy and, with the array of sauces before me, quite interesting. The last point is the staff, they are funny, bubbly and clearly happy to be serving you and engage in conversation and run abck and forward to the kitchen for you if you have a query or to amend something. A great wee place and a credit to the food court here!

I don’t usually go to the St Enoch centre for dinner however, for Ed’s Diner I made an exception. I love American food so a diner themed restaurant in Glasgow was right up my street. The retro décor and music created the perfect American atmosphere. Then once our burgers and fries arrived we could have pretended we were in the States. One can dream!

Been in a couple of times and never really had anyrhing majorly bad to say It’s quirky, most of the staff look like they are actually having fun at work and enjoy interacting with customers Food is always warm and tasty and service is pretty quick Although I hate the fact you can chose the music due to the fact anytime I go in my partner or friends will play«Tell Laura I Love Her» so if I could request that to be removed from the list it would be great thanks haha The breakfast pancakes are amazing! The summer fruits are soooo tasty and the bacon ones hit all the right spots :) Only issue is check your bill before you go ahead and pay, myself and my partner went in for breakfast the other day and our bill should have only been £20odd and the guy was trying to charge on the card machine almost double, when pointed out he didn’t apologise or say he mixed up as he was typing it in ect, just kinda grunted and changed the amount … Hmmm But apart from that no complaints

Yay for Ed’s! I was ridiculously excited when I found out Glasgow was getting an Ed’s Easy Diner, having been to two of their establishments in London which I adored. Being an Ed’s Club member, they’re always emailing me with lovely deals and things so I needed no excuse to get myself along there!(A free burger or hot dog did provide a pretty good excuse though, I have to say!) The location in the St Enoch centre is fab as it means it’s really central, but it also means that Ed’s has to adhere to centre opening times — which isn’t so good as it means I can’t really make it along on weeknights. However, the inside of it looks totally fabulous(I may have made a comment to the bf about their commitment to branding, so sue me I love all that stuff!) with the retro signs, speakers, booths and music! The staff are super mega friendly and only too happy to help with anything you need, it’s not in that scripted, stilted way either which is ace. I just love the whole atmosphere in Ed’s! The food is brill — a selection of burgers and hot dogs with loads of different tasty options. I went for the Slick Dog since I’d had it before and I love all of its calorific, heart attack-inducing goodness! It’s covered it BBQ sauce AND cheese sauce(oh their cheese sauce is good) and then sprinkled with bacon bits — woop! The hot dog itself is also good, sometimes toppings can disguise an average dog but not in this case! There are 2 options when you order at Ed’s — the burger/hot dog on it’s own or an «Ed’s Plate» which comes with chips, onion rings and coleslaw for a few quid extra. The bf and myself decided to split the Ed’s plate extras between us, which was definitely a good idea cause you get a decent amount of stuff, I think it probably would’ve been too much for us otherwise! I’ve yet to try the desserts OR the shakes in any Ed’s(shocking, I know) cause I’m always full up from the other food. But you can bet I’ll report back when I do, they look so good!

We sashayed appropriately into Ed’s Easy Diner. It’s a piece of Americana in St Enoch shopping centre, right next to the food-court. It looks nothing like a real, contemporary US diner, but if you’re a fan of Grease, Happy Days and 50’s rock ‘n’ roll you’ll feel right at home. The staff are mostly really young and a little inexperienced at the moment, but I have no complaints about the service at all. The menu is colourful, laminated and full of burger and hotdog. It is definitely aimed at families. On taking a pew the booths are very padded, and each has its own jukebox… yayy — unfortunately full of 50’s rock ‘n’ roll still! I put on «Rock Around The Clock», well it is for charity. We naively opted for slightly flat tap cokes, but we discovered afterwards they do proper soda bottles, a small range of bottled beers –2 out of the 3 you can guess — and in amongst their impressive range of milkshakes they do a Baileys and a rum one. Yum! So they took an order of a Blues Burger plate(with a blue cheese topping, inventive name huh) and a Cheeseburger plate. It came really quickly and was a pretty good burger by any standards. It stayed in one piece, as did the roll, it was meaty and probably a sensible size, it had some of your five-a-day on top and a really significant wodge of cheese. If anything the cheese was a little too generous. The mustardy Ed’s sauce that came on the burger was pretty nice too. It was definitely better than my last HRC burger, though it could have been spiced or herbed up a bit to make it a stand-out. The chips were really very decent too, crisp and fluffy. This is for me definitely the best meal experience to be had in St Enoch’s food-court and on this evidence I think I can recommend Ed’s as Glasgow’s best American diner for families. Kids will love the shakes, as will I once I get a Baileys one down me! It’s too«Easy» to get a five, but for the experience and the food it’s worth a four

I’m still not totally sure that I’m actually a diner person, but I was intrigued by Ed’s. I hadn’t actually heard of it before, I know it’s a chain and that there’s quite a few across the place but I don’t remember ever seeing it! Anyway, they’ve opened at St Enoch’s on the upper level by the food court. If you were going to eat at St Enoch and don’t fancy a food court meal, it’s the best option I can think of along with Kimble’s for somewhere that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a shopping centre. The décor is exactly what you’d expect if I said it’s a retro American diner-type place. Red booths, jukeboxes, smiley staff. And the menu fits that theme, it’s mostly burgers with some hot dogs and other large plate dishes like full breakfast and pulled pork as well as milkshakes. You can also get boozy milkshakes! Amazing! I went for the chicken Acapulco burger with American cheese, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and spicy salsa which is £7.45 or £11.55 for a plate(with onion rings, chips and coleslaw). We didn’t have to wait long for food to arrive(even though the restaurant was pretty much full at lunch time on a Tuesday). Served on a seeded bun with lots of chips and a few onion rings, the thing I liked the most was definitely the chicken. There was loads of it and it was super tasty, cooked perfectly. Nice toppings of guac, sour cream and salsa meant it packed a punch in terms of flavour. The onion rings were great, super super crispy and delicious. The only thing that really let it down was the coleslaw which I didn’t love, but then I rarely do! The other thing that makes this a 4-star review was the service — it was really great. Our server(Steph, I think her name was) was great. She had lots of personality and banter, and made sure our experience was a bit more fun than a normal meal out for lunch. It’s definitely on the expensive side if you get a plate — perhaps a burger and chips to share would be a more economical option if you were eating with a family or a couple of friends. But, all up — tasty food and a bit of fun made this a nice lunch time experience.
