I came here with Gian the other day when I craved pizza but he refused to take me to Paesano because he’d been there for lunch(haha). So I figured we should just try a new place! We made a reservation and off we went. Gambrino seemed OK and we passed by in every week when otw to yoga and back! So why not. The place decorated in a quite a traditional Italian way! I was pleasantly surprised by how it resembled certain lodge restaurants I’d been to in Italy. Nice! We were directed to our seats by the window and were given the Christmas menu along with their normal menu. Sorry, I’m here for pizza, so I chucked the Christmas menu aside and went straight for the pizza selection. I went for the pizza with Italian nduja sausages, and Gian went for the one with salami(requested it to be dairy free too). It was a nice big portion, a bit on the doughy side but hey, I ain’t complaining! Both pizzas were £9 each and were pretty yum for someone who was craving it and starving! Was satisfied. We also had some house wine which was so-so. The hot chocolate i ordered for dessert was much better than the wine tbh haha. Gian also said their espresso wasn’t too bad. Staff members were great! Really friendly and about 3 different people attended to us. Are we that special?! ;) Anyway, yeap quite a nice place and would consider going back again!

I’ve been coming to Gambrino for years and I’ve always found it a very warm, inviting and friendly place with a charming ‘rustic’ vibe. Generally I opt for the pizza and firmly believe it is the best in the West End. It is also one of the only places I have seen in the UK that does a «tonno e cipolla» pizza(i.e. tuna and onion) and despite what you might think, its rather traditional in Italy and it tastes divine! Depending on the chef working, the pasta dishes can also be excellent, however it seems that they can sometimes be a hit or miss. The menu is slightly limited and they really only do pizza and pasta and a few daily specially. This doesn’t bother me as they seem to stick to what they are good at. Plus I’m not a fan of overly huge menus. Gambrino is incredibly good value for money and, if you like your wine, the wine list is rather special. Great for all sorts of occasions and kid friendly, this is certainly one place I will keep heading back to for my a pizza fix.

Had a lovely relaxed traditional Italian family Sunday lunch here today with parents, hubby & toddler. Such good value for money. For two courses plus a drink we were under £15pp. Portion size was generous and taste great — unlike many set lunch menus there were about 10 options to choose from per course, all of which were decent things from a la carte, including any pizza from the main menu. This is obviously a favourite local spot as they were doing brisk trade for a Sunday. The waitresses were all absolutely lovely and really paid attention to our toddler which we appreciated. I knocked one wee star off as the service of food was a little slow, although not enough to spoil our overall enjoyment(eating out with a toddler is a bit of a ticking time bomb). Liked how waitress checked with mum that her penne carbonara was ok given she had left a bit(only because she was stuffed)! They clearly care about their customers. We left with a doggy bag with rest of our pizza, which was delicious — just massive! Appreciated offer to box it up for us to take away. Suitable for disabled guests & good baby change facilities. We shall be back!

As the two stars suggest. It’s not that good. It’s meant to look rustic inside now it’s just rusty. Trotting out a dean Martin album on repeat for ambiance. Is just in keeping with the tired menu. Times have moved on. Very mediocre food decent staff small Luke warm portions. Not value at all

The food is good(although pasta dishes are definitely better than the pizza) – flavorful and good portion sizes. Not particularly memorable, but good. Service is nearly dreadful. Our waitress today didn’t say a word to us when 45 minutes had passed and we still didn’t have our starter. When my husband politely inquired of someone else walking past, she sort of gestured to our waitress(indicating we still didn’t have our food). Our waitress looked toward the kitchen and said she didn’t know. She NEVER spoke to us the rest of the visit. The first woman went to the kitchen, then came back and told us that a new chef was being trained. While we waited?! Never an explanation, apology, maybe some extra bread. Nothing. They were pretty empty in the late afternoon(and the GWR was jumping). Seems clear why.

Poor Italian restaurant serving up cynical versions of Italian food. Eaten here three times and each time taken an age to choose from the blah menu. Pasta pretty much always over-cooked and pizzas doughy, losing my interest before I can finish them. there’s a few lunch /early evening offers, but otherwise doesn’t feel great value for money. Staff have always been friendly, but can’t see myself hurrying back.

Got back in Glasgow Thursday night, got settled in my new flat so all cosy in kevinbridges, pop out in the old neighbourhood, remembered just how bad Cherbunin was so decided to try Gambrini’s. . sounds like an alco-pop and the décor is about as new in concept. . miserable greeting, grumpy minimal service, luke warn main dinner, shockingly high price vs quality and the final insult over coffee watching a couple who were ‘regulars’ breeze in to smiles, something on the house to drink, anything we can do. . well you could stop the pretence of serving the public and admit that you are a cheap tavern for your friends, at least the rain lifted my spirits on the walk home !

The food here is delicious. Very reasonably priced for the west end(we ordered from the lunch time menu £6.95 for two courses) and the quantity and quality was fantastic. Our waitress was very helpful too, recommending some dishes to suit our taste. We’d highly recommend this place if you’re after great pizza or pasta without having to spend a small fortune.

A proper Italian with a large array of pizzas and pastas to pick from. I’ve been twice and both times were an enjoyable experience, both in terms of the food and service. They even have free newspapers to flick through whilst you wait for your dinner, not that I’ve ever had to wait long. Alas all Italians in Glasgow may now always be in the shadow of the now defunct Amici.

This has became a bit of a tradition amongst me and some friends. We try to wine and dine here together at least once a month, though as life is this does not always go to plan. The reason we love it so much, is partly down to the warm, welcoming traditional Italian feel which radiates out of this place. The staff are amazingly friendly, quick, attentive and are more than happy to note special specifications to dishes should they be required for some reason(and, no I’m not talking about diets). Most importantly, the food is extraordinary! The menu is bursting with pizzas and pastas but also offers other alternatives such as steak, fish and chicken dishes. My personal favourite here has got to be the mussels in a rich, tomato sauce. Mmmm… As for the wine — well that’s another story…

This is a rustic pizza joint. I did enjoy it but there was not enough on the menus for me. The staff were friendly enough and the food was good. Just no meat dishes to speak of were available and it could have been a bit more organised. I would go back again as it was reasonably priced.
