This is a realtively new little pizzeria on Byres Road. It’s not an easy place to break into the pizza market, given how close it is to old favourites like Little Italy but so far I think it’s doing ok for a new start. It has the immediate advantage that it will deliver(within a limited area) something that Little Italy has never offered, at least to my knowledge. It’s fairly standard Italian fare(although it’s always a bit odd to see nachos available among the starters at a pizza place) and offers most of the topping combinations you would expect along with the option to «create your own» pizza with additional toppings priced per item depending on your pizza’s size. My large ham and mushroom pizza wasn’t half bad. The base isn’t the crispiest I’ve had but it’s still good and the tomatoe sauce is nice and generously applied. I’m not sure if it wins against close competition but it’s not a place I’ll ignore either.

I ordered a delivery from Santini’s a few weeks ago, so have not actually been into the pizzeria itself, though have walked past it. Situated on the top end of Byres Road(near Oran Mor), it appears quite a small venue with a few spaces for tables and seats. The pizza selection on offer is quite extensive, with quite an interesting selection of gourmet pizzas. We had the pulled pork pizza and the black pudding and egg pizzas. Both had very tasty toppings and were plentiful. For the overall pizza quality, I found the base a bit on the soggy side, and the cheese used wasn’t the greatest. At the price though(£6 for a 12″ pizza) its hard to grumble. Overall not a bad pizza place, but compared to other places in the city(and in particular Little Itlay down the road) it’s falling a bit behind the competition.
