Firstly the food itself is faultless. What let’s this place down is the service and online ordering BIGTIME! Food arrived cold and very late. Asked for a refund and it took over 2 months to be processed.

Fabulous Pizza at la favourita tonight. Ordered the Mac and cheese croquettes which were great and came with a lovely salsa dip. Maybe a little on the greasy side but was a nice little starter! Then we had the flying pig and the hot star! Wow amazing! I can definitely see why the hot star won best pizza 2014! It’s very spicy so if you’re not into spicy foods I would recommend another choice. The flying pig was just as good with a lovely BBQ base. We will definitely be back soon!

La Favorita was recommended to me by a friend so one night feeling the usual to order pizza I decided to give it a try. The menu was not too extensive which I enjoyed and signing up entailed £10 off your order of you spent £30. I ordered a margarita with red onion, my boyfriend ordered a haggis pizza and we also got garlic bread. When the order arrived it looked absolutely amazing, thin crust, well cooked cheese. The garlic bead was magical but and the only but was that it was cold. Not sure if there was a mix up with the driver finding our flat but it’s the only element stoping me from giving it 5 stars. Other than the temperature I would definitely order from La Favorita again or better yet sit in the restaurant and eat !

Tried La Favorita for delivery a few weeks ago on one hungover Sunday evening after curiosity and an inability to move got the better of me. I kept it simple and had ham and mushroom. The first problem I had was the actual delivery time, taking just over an hour late on a Sunday evening seemed a bit slow(I only live a 5 minute drive from the store), which also left the pizza slightly cold on arrival. After a quick heat in the oven I finally got to try the pizza. I did enjoy the pizza, though can’t say it was anything outstanding, the base was cooked well, if a touch too crispy for my taste. The toppings were very nice, the ham was really tasty, as were the mushrooms. Price wise, I thought it was fairly reasonable, if a bit on the steep side for a pizza. I would happily order again for delivery, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

OILYDRAWBACKS!!! Him Indoors and I had dinner delivered from La Favorita tonight and I wish I could give it a higher mark, I’d really like to, but I can’t… :-( Just ONE word sums up my meal: OIL! My pasta and my croquettes were SWIMMING in it and it reaaaaally disappointed me… the actual flavour of BOTH dishes I had(croquettes for starter with spaghetti carbonara for main course) were both REALLY good… but as SOON as I saw the pool of oil in the bottom of the container I kinda made me go «ooooh…no!!» Now I ABSOLUTELY understand the olive oil requirement in Italian cooking, but I believe this was a tad overkill-y(see my pics)…SUCH. A. SHAME! But as I say the actual flavours in the dishes were good, ESPECIALLY the croquettes and their wee dipping sauce-yum…but if you do order, have a wee roll of kitchen roll handy to blot them… I wouldn’t order the carbonara again just due to the abundance of oil… I would just go for a pizza next time as Him Indoors’ looked amazing… sooooo onto that… Him Indoors ordered a Vesuvio pizza with substituted mushrooms instead of the salami(the Vesuvio was supposed to have salami, chicken, peppers, red chillies, green chillies and mozzarella) due to his infamous allium allergy; the chap I spoke to on the phone made sure it would be OK with the chef and went off to ask him regularly when I had any enquiries… it turned out to be all fine, they were extremely accommodating. One thing that HAS to be noted was the level of customer service I received was BRILLIANT(one of the aspects securing this three star review rather than less-for my dinner!!!) I had called earlier in the day to find out if they used garlic/onions in their pizza sauce, turns out the they didn’t…yay for HI! We then called back later when I spoke to the other really helpful staff member, who checked there was no marinade on the chicken for his pizza and made sure the chef knew he had an allergy etc… FABULOUS! And when his pizza arrived it looked DEE-luscious!(The lid of the box had stuck to the cheese a wee bit, but there was plenty so he wasn’t too worried about it.) He said the flavour was excellent and there were plenty of chillies on it, but it could’ve been a bit warmer and the base was a wee bit chewy but overall very tasty!(He gave it four stars, I went two based on my dinner, so we split the difference… lol…true community Unilocaling! Ha!) I definitely think we’ll order from La Favorita again(I’ll be having a pizza!!) as we’ve found somewhere HI can eat(with his allergies… oy! Lol) and enjoy a good pizza when the craving demands! Oh, and«blotted» croquettes… That sauce is too tasty to resist!

A wee update, but not a good one I’m afraid. Had to fire this update up on Unilocal as I’d wrote a previous four star review, but La Favorita’s service deserves no more than one star, and here’s why. I’ve now ate here about here about fifteen times, about half and half of sit and deliveries, and it started out well, however the last seven or eight times have not gone to plan. The two times out of five that the delivery actually arrived it was stone cold, toppings missing, toppings all over the shop like they’d either thrown them on, or the delivery drivers can’t keep a pizza flat. The other couple of times it was impossible to order, website issues, not being able to apply discounts because the site wasn’t working. Contacting them doesn’t do much, pretty apathetic over the phone and they don’t answer social media, Twitter, Face book etc. The times I’ve sat in hasn’t faired much better, the first couple of times were okay, still service issues but nothing to put me off going back, the last two occasions have been pretty awful, maybe I’ve been unlucky but two times in a row, senior staff seem to having a meeting right next to where we were sitting. Hearing how to get more money out of ‘punters’ isn’t conducive to a pleasant meal. Last two times also been left standing while waiting to place an order, even when it’s not busy it’s hard to get anyone’s attention, they seem more interested in dicking about with what they’re doing than actually serving. I kept going back because it was the best pizza around, and it’s still very good when they get it right, but since going to Paesano(shame they don’t deliver) I haven’t been back. I can’t see what would make me go back, their prices are overly inflated and their service is woeful. You can go to Paesano for a six quid pizza and great service that is immense rather than paying £12 for a La Favorita pizza and awful service. You started out well La Favorita, but you’ve gone way downhill in a short amount of time.

I actually find it a bit upsetting to be giving La Fav a two star downgrade but my recent experience was poor. I ordered pizza for delivery on Friday night, the first time I have used their online ordering system. My order went through, I entered by payment details and then I was taken to a screen that said ‘Your order has been accepted by the restaurant. You will recieve a text when your pizza is ready’ or words similar to this. Now it was 7pm on a Friday night so I was fully expecting to wait an hour or so for my pizza. It got to after 8pm and I still hadn’t received a text, so I phoned the restaurant to ask about my order. Straight away I was told that they didn’t have my order, they were having problems with their online system and did I not realise this when I didn’t receive a text message? Erm maybe an apology would have been a nice way to start? I’m not sure how I could have been expected to know that a text is send immediately after you place your order having never used the online system before. The woman on the phone asked if I wanted to order again and she would send some free ice cream as an apology. I asked how long the wait would be as technically I had already been waiting over an hour, she answered and said ‘oh not long, within the hour’ I hesitated at that, because quite frankly a two hour wait for a pizza is a bit long /too long depending on how hungry you are! She then corrected that saying it would be 20−30mins since I lived so close to the restuarant. Well it wasn’t 20−30mins, it was 55 minutes and then when my pizza arrived(MINUS my free ice cream! By this point I couldn’t even be bothered to call back) it wasn’t what I was expecting. I ordered the Parmigiana, go look at the website and you’ll see a lush looking pizza covered in big slices of aubergine. My pizza had too few small chunks of aubergine. I don’t really understand why you would show a picture of nice big slices and set an expectation and then fail to deliver. Anyway, the pizza tasted okay, even though it was mainly just cheese. I doubt I’ll use La Favorita Delivered for delivery again when there are so many other options locally.

I finally got around to trying out La Favorita on a super sunny Sunday afternoon with the lovely Pammi G and Charlotte D. Sadly, La Favorita isn’t on the sunny side of the street but that means you can give evil looks to the people basking in the sun at Stravaigin. Not that I’d ever do that, of course. We were seated in the window near the pizza oven so we could spy into the cooking area which was pretty cool — the pizza bases are the real deal and stretched by hand which was impressive. We went totally overboard with our ordering — we got a 14″ Cinque Formaggi(all the cheese) with added chicken and aubergine, as well as croquettes, sweet potato fries and a pasta(the broccoli one) to share between us. The food didn’t take long to arrive and our only issue was that we didn’t really have enough table space! Woops. I really liked the pizza — I honestly can’t say that it was anything exceptional but I did really enjoy it and was impressed with the toppings. The waitress had confirmed the aubergine was pre-grilled and they were generous with the chicken. The croquettes were awesome, a bit like a mac cheese filling but with penne and they are massive, you really only need one each. The sweet potato fries were also really tasty and the only real let down was the pasta which I didn’t love, but to be fair we probably ordered way too much food. They were happy to package up the leftover pizza for me to take home, and I thought prices was reasonable. I’d definitely go back — maybe just not on the sunniest day of 2015.

I like this place, I like the colourful décor and I really like pizza! I’ve tried a slice of their Tricolore pizza before and it was delicious. I decided to go back for a proper sit in meal and sample some more. I ordered the Capricciosa which has ham, mushrooms, artichoke and black olives. It may have been a bad choice as I usually get pizza with chorizo, proscuitto or bacon but this pizza was super bland. It was also a bit cold and watery on top. The base was good and the topping was fresh but it was a let down. I also had the Super Salad which is 75% mozzarella! How anyone could eat that much mozzarella in one sitting is beyond me. I’m sure it would be cheaper to through in some cucumber or peppers? Overall the food was ok but not great. The place is bright, clean and colourful. Upstairs is bustling with take away customers but downstairs has a more laidback feel and it seems like a good spot for families as there’s a kid’s menu and small play area. I’d try La Favorita again but definitely get a different pizza.

Friday night and craving a pizza. I love the chains but wanted something a little more authentic. Having bookmarked here decided to give it a try. Ordering on the website was easy, although the deals section didn’t seem to work. I ordered the salami, mushroom and chilli pizza. I like having a dip so could have done with an option to ask for one. After ordering I got a text to say the order was received and another text when the driver was leaving. I’ve seen the yellow fiats all over the place and I think it’s great marketing. The driver was super friendly and my pizza arrived within an hour of ordering. It was super yummy. Properly thin dough and gorgeous toppings. The chilli was hot and I loved the mushrooms. I did have to reheat the pizza half way through eating as it had gone stone cold. Has anyone else had this? Will be returning to dine in!

So, slightly mixed feelings about La Favorita but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve eaten in here twice and taken away/got delivery three times(don’t judge me). The two times I ate in and the one time I went instore to collect, it was perfect. First off, the staff are really attentive and friendly. I love the ambiance of the downstairs area, as small as it is, and the upstairs bit is good for a quick bite but can get cramped with customers waiting on takeaways. They do gluten-free pizza which TASTESGOOD! It’s a miracle in my eyes, and I always get it as a Boscaiola with wild mushrooms, rocket, and parmesan. The cheese is melty, not rubbery, and the sauce is flavorful, couldn’t ask for more! It’s a wee bit pricey for my student budget, but no more so than your average pizza place, and you cannot beat the location for post-uni or pre-stravaigin nosh! The one gripe I have is about the two times I ordered over the phone. Their online delivery wasn’t working yet(now the website is up and running and looking snazzy!) but both times they messed up the order, and they only fixed it once. I’m going to attribute it to a couple of slip ups before they got their delivery properly up and running though, as every other time it’s been great. I guess I’ll just have to order it again now and report back… Oh well…

I wanted to love you, La Favorita. Sadly, upon visiting again, the food was just womp. Pasta lacked sauce, pizza — one lacked flavour, the other was oddly segregated. My gluten free pizza was burnt on the edges. It was better when they first opened!

There had been a lot of buzz about the new La Favorita opening in Glasgow and I was excited to try! As they don’t take bookings we rocked up way to hungry! Got what looks like the last table and we are In!!! Only being opened for a couple of days the staff were still finding their feet and it is all a little chaotic! After trying to catch the waitress eye we finally ordered drinks. When she returned she had forgotten my red wine an quickly dashed away to get it. We are ready to order… no waitress! Manager looking guy sends one over. We shared a portion of Mac n cheese croquettes Out come three for a table of four. When chopping them up for sharing there was a huge bit of plastic melted into the inner cheese part… guess what’s not fresh! Again no waitress so the manager looking guy was back to our table who rectified this mistake by bringing us new ones with an fourth croquette. I ordered a 10″(although they got it wrong and served me a 14″) pork with apple sauce and potato a little different I know but It worked and was tasty. I get that this could have been a terrible experience and probably should have been a 2 star but the pizza was very tasty and they couldn’t have been apologetic. It will get a second chance of a 5*!

Located on Gibson Street, LaFavourita is a mecca of Scandinavian style décor. It was all clean lines and very… white with small splashes of colour. I like it — to me it was quite utilitarian but I think the vibe suited this style of quick drop in style dining. My favourite feature was definitely the stairs, which on the way down look normal, but on the way back up each step is named after an area in my beloved west end… very cute! The staff were brilliant — friendly, fast and attentive… what more could you ask for in this fast food style environment. I found the menu baffling, not because it was complicated but because there were so many different pizzas to choose from. In the end I settled on the Tricolore — which was described as tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, roasted chicken breast, sliced seasoned potatoes, pancetta, basil pesto… yum! We also ordered a side of sweet potato chips along with a portion of macaroni cheese croquettes. The food arrived quickly and the smell was incredible, I have always had a bit of a thing for baked dough so when this pizza arrived, I was practically bathing in the smell of the dough mixed with the gorgeous smell of pesto and cheese. My eyes were rolling and I was very nearly drooling… embarrassing! Our cutter was blunt and wouldn’t cut the pizza, I didn’t have time to fight with it so I just dove in and attacked it was cutlery. The pizza itself had a light slightly doughy base, gooey cheese, well seasoned potato, the delicious chicken was generous and the pesto was heaven. My only niggle was with the pancetta — it could have done with more since I only got 2 small strips. On the whole though, it was a pretty freakin’ fantastic pizza. The sweet potato fries were great — crunchy, light, and seasoned well… they were amongst some of the best I have eaten in the city. The croquettes were a thing of beauty, large cheesy pasta sausages coated in crispy panko breadcrumbs and deep-fried to perfection. These were so good that I have been raving about them to everyone. For dessert I ordered a tub of LaFavourita branded nutella ice cream. It was nice enough — not incredible but not bad either it just tasted like any ice cream you could buy from a supermarket, but it was good and I would order it again. I will be back to LaFavourita again soon and would definitely recommend it. I had a wonderful afternoon with my lovely friend who let me cry about how unfair life is, then bought my lunch… was a gal and great friend!

I really really REALLY enjoyed my time here with my highschool bestie! We were craving some pizza after having not eaten one in(what seemed to be) ages! And what better place to try than the newest pizza joint in the city?! The reviews really left me with quite high expectations and I could happily say that they were met! We ordered two pizzas and fried calamari to start. Pizza no. 1 was a vegetarian one with spicy peppers and olives and pizza no. 2 was one with chicken and what seemed to be ricotta cheese(I’ll be honest, I don’t remember the names! We were too hungry and practically chose the one with the most ingredients, then let the universe decide our fate lol). The pizzas were delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially since the waitresses offered extra shaved parmesan over it(salt, pepper and some spicy sauce too)! YUM! I took a few slices back home to the Italian and HEAPPROVES! The deep fried calamari were sinful too! Who could hate deep fried calamari?! Or anything deep fried for that matter. The staff were very friendly and inviting! Full of smiles too :) members from the kitchen upstairs greeted us as we arrived and left, which was nice! Hope they keep the quality going!

Man, I really hate to do this, especially after all the rants and raves about this place, but it’s got to be done. Sophie K. and I went here after I had an exam and she had a full day in mock court for her PhD– so we were well and truly ready to chow down on some delicious pizza! We had experienced La Favorita as a post Kilt Walk treat not too long ago and thought it was about time we sit down for the full on experience. We managed to get there pretty early and were sat immediately as there was no one in the place. The décor itself made me crave IKEA, because that’s basically where all the décor was from. I only know, because sadly, I’ve been plenty of times to know the type of furnishings they have available for purchase. Still, ever so cozy in the basement of the otherwise take away looking establishment we took a seat. In one corner, a few couches, in another, a spare pizza oven, sitting empty and untouched. There’s a space where they have a curtain that can be drawn for more privacy if you ever want to bring a larger group in. The waitress came over and gave us the menus and told us of the special they had for Tuesdays: Buy a large pizza and get a bowl of pasta for £1.99. Well, we were sold. We ordered a margarita pizza and a bowl of mac and cheese with pancetta. We agreed that if the margarita pizza is out of the world, the rest of the pizzas must be as well. I’m not sure if it was an off day for La Favorita Delivered, but our pizza was nothing spectacular. In fact, opposite of what their menu says about being a lo salt kinda place, something about the pie was overly salted. I think I managed to drink a full jug of water myself– I was pretty thirsty through the meal. The base of the pizza was super thin in some places, thick in others. The cheese had no rhyme or reason to how it was placed and there were only we bits of basil on top of the pie. To be fair, the crust was tasty and the pizza actually tasted better luke warm as we finished it up. I think we both agreed that it might taste better delivered instead of right out of the oven. For shame. Now on to the pasta… oh that pasta. Luckily we only had to pay £1.99 for it, as it was horrible. The pasta was undercooked(not al dente), the cheese was hard and dry(as though it had been sitting for a while). The bits of bread on top were pretty stale and the pancetta… well, that was actually the only thing we kept eating, as it was smokey and very tasty. The pasta should have been a miss, but we couldn’t pass up a deal and we regretted getting it. I was overly excited for a delicious pizza joint to finally make its way to Glasgow, but this isn’t the place. Maybe I’m too picky when it comes to pizza, but I expect to be wow’d. La Pizza Favorita just didn’t do it for me.

I usually meet up with one of my friends for a late outing and as everywhere was closed we chose here. There are so many places popping up its hard to keep up with all the new openings. We chose to sit in ad ordered two coffee’s with a side order of sweet potato fries even though they where nice it was a bought in product, and for the price paid you didn’t get a lot for your money, it looked like fine dinning prices for what you got. I chose the Tri Colore pizza, this contained chicken Ham & potato, with a drizzle of pesto for decoration, the pizza did look great, but was very very and very salty, the edges of the Pizza was black in quite a few areas and if you ate any of the outer crust the burnt flavour stayed there. There where about eight bits of chicken on the pizza that stated it was corn fed, this was not corn fed, it also said pancetta, but looked and tasted more like streaky bacon, I felt that the combination of flavours did not work, the saltiness was all l got. I think they have a few teething problems with the food, but l would go back at a later date one things improve. The staff where nice and polite.

If you’ve been to La Favorita in Edinburgh, then you’ll know just how good the pizza is. Well, friends, Glasgow is every bit as good. My band and I had recorded all day in Glasgow. Afterwards, we were so very hungry, and once we’d considered La Favorita’s pizza, we just couldn’t shake the thought. The pizza is good; so good! I had the Nduja which is a hot, tangy wonder of cheese, tomato, sausage, spinach. I’d had the Nduja previously at the Edinburgh branch, and it was certainly a match on that. Although, i’s a four from me for now because there were slight delays with the starters. My friend’s garlic bread came quite some time before the rest of our starters. We started to think that the staff had forgotten. — They hadn’t, and it was just a wee bitty more time till I had a scrumptious plate of sweet potato fries with salsa before me. I loved the texture of them. — They were cooked to a delicious crisp. Sweet potato is one of my favourite things and I’m glad that La Fav have made room for it on the menu. I devoured them, and was even devilishly tempted to buy a potion to take home with me. For a Sunday evening, the place was wild; constant orders coming through, and also pizzas ordered to collect. All while normal table service presumed. That’s no mean feat, La Fav. — I salute you! They’re really managing well considering just how long they’ve been open; the staff are working hard at it. I really trust La Favorita with pizza, and I know I’m going to have a slice of the good stuff here. I foresee many a visit, and I’m excited for every single one of them.

Dinner on Saturday night had a lot of good aspects to it, but it was far from being perfect. I had heard many reports of the pizza here being potentially the best in Scotland, the UK, no the universe. So I was keen to see if the Glasgow location was going to live up to the good reputation of the Edinburgh restaurants. First impressions was it was a bit more«fast food» looking in terms of branding than I expected. Still this is not a bad thing, just an observation. The place was bouncing but we luckily got one of the couple of tables available up stairs. The service was pretty slow, even though there seemed to be loads of staff milling about. We chose one starter to share between 4 and I got a 14 inch(I think, maybe 12 inch — the large one anyway) pizza to myself. Starters began very badly, we got three macaroni croquettes between 4 and we opened one up to find a huge bit of plastic in it. To be fair when I pointed it out to the manager he was exceptionally apologetic. He got us 4 new croquettes and when the bill came at the end they were free of charge. They also tasted amazing, so it turned out not to impact on our meal negatively. For pizza I got a ndjua which had tomatoes, onions and spicy sausage meat. No where on the menu did it say it would be spicy. I nearly added spicy salami to it before being stopped by Rocco G as he let me know it would come with a kick. I am glad he did as it was exceptionally hot in my opinion and should be marked as such on the menu. I enjoyed the pizza base, but was not overwhelmed by the toppings if I am being honest. All in I had a good meal. I think the place is having teething problems that will smooth out in time. Another example on top of the starter issue was that one of our party ordered a small pizza, but got a a large brought to them. I also think it is pricey for the takeout option. I would definitely recommend sitting in and getting your monies worth. I will be back in the future to try more pizza, but at the moment it’s probably a 3.5 for me. Good pizza but not the most epic one I have ever tried. Since there is no half stars, I will go positive with 4. Particularly because of how they dealt with the starter issue and how good those croquettes tasted. They were actually the food highlight for me!

I think I’ve been waiting about 10 long, long years for La Fav to open in Glasgow. During his time I have had to make countless trips to the Capital just to get my pizza fix. But no more will there be round trips to Edinburgh just to grab an authentic pizza. No sleepless weeks dreaming about the soft wood fired dough. No pangs of intense craving for the delicious melted mozzarella on San Marzano tomatoes. All these things make it the best pizza in Scotland by some distance. We popped in to try the La Fav Delivered on Gibson Street just a few days after opening and I was slightly concerned that potential teething problems could have ruined my experience. It takes time for a pizzaiolo to get used to a new oven after all. Thankfully this was not the case. The pizza was just as good, if not better than what I have had in their Leith Walk restaurant. A wonderfully soft dough, with some good charring, well seasoned and not too cheesy or tomato-y. In my view, the key to making a good pizza is the simplicity, so for me this is the place to go. No fancy herbs or spices are added to the sauce, no onion or garlic, just quality tomatoes that speak volumes and good quality mozzarella. I was a little surprised to see some pretty far out pizzas on the menu however, some of which are totally loaded with rather unauthentic ingredients such as chicken, pork and fruits, but hey, each to their own I suppose. I will stick to the classics like the Capricciosa, Margherita, Diavola, Rocket and Parmesan and I know that La Fav will always deliver. The shop has a a good few 30 seats to cater for passer-bys wanting to eat a piping hot pizza without taking away. Its very informal and relaxed, and the place is beautifully and tastefully decorated. I prefer to eat my pizza straight out the oven and not in a cardboard box, so if you can, try sitting in. The pizza does taste better for it! All I can say to you now is, forget about Domino’s, Papa John’s and the like. This is the real deal! La Favorita have made my residence in Glasgow a whole lot better now they are only a 10 minute walk from my flat. Happy days indeed :)
